Eastleigh confirmed for us. Harder for fans to get there and back, but a better allocation. Also slightly less embarrassing if we lose.

As I said before though, how you spin some interesting storylines out of this, I don't know.
They beat us last time, there manager scored the winner, Danny Holland's ex Crewe player.

Exeter beating us 1-0. We’ve had no shots, no corners, no attacks of any note. I don’t think we’ve even been in their box.
You wouldn’t catch us being that defensive at an away game......

Ah well, losing predictably at home to Cheltenham in a cup replay when 1-0 up after 90 minutes in the first game at least saves us the ignominy of losing at home to Vale in the second round.

Concentrate on the league and all that!

We never ever win at Swindon! In fact I was there last time we did and that was because your keeper ran out like a headless chicken and mis judged the bounce of the ball which went over his head for Cornes to tap in... 2005 I think!

Mind you think its 2006 since we won at Cheltenham... all be it not met as many times... and have a few draws there... been there 3 or 4 times I don't think we've lost any.

Never seem to do well in the west country area actually.

Most fans are chuffed its Cheltenham purely because "We never ever win at Swindon"

I don’t like the side Calderwood has put out but we have an outrageous injury list. Three youth team players on the bench who have never played for us before plus Taft who I think is injured (he’d be starting if he was fit) and Jones (who is coming back from injury too). So we basically had 13 fit senior players (including 2 keepers) to select a first 11 from. Basically picks itself.

If we somehow take this to extra time I’ll be amazed.

Yeah, it is what is and I'm not blaming Calderwood for last night's starting line up. But we still had Knibbs and Smith up front - plus Roles as well, who though not a forward, can be dangerous at times - so to have just the two attempts on goal and no corners at all in 96 mins is very poor.

To put this into perspective, even minnow European national teams will force a corner or two when taking on the big teams in the qualifiers. Honestly I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

You've beat us twice at Whaddon Road, which were your first and third visits there. Cheltenham have won 3 of the last 4 at Whaddon Road, including the last 2.

I'm afraid I'm not getting Mr Eubanks's S v C reference. Crewe have got an away tie at Eastleigh in the next round???

edit - oh I see. He's referring to Cheltenham and Swindon.

Agreed Si. It most certainly is not such a place.

Away end is ok at Cheltenham to be fair... all be it you are likely to get walloped by a stray shot whilst having a piss!

Can’t see anything other than a comfortable home win for Newport tonight unfortunately, it’s just one of those grounds that we always play turd at, even in the non league days when we were near the top of the league we always played shit there.
Seems like Newport are proper shithouses these days too so we’ll probably end up with a red card to go with our inevitable defeat.

S vs C. Both hovels. Much of a muchness. 300 bloody miles for Chris Eubank on the exceptionally unstupendous average speed camera'd motorway network.
Until you’ve had a couple of seasons in non league you’ll never know what proper hovels are.

Oh I agree completely, our performance was awful and there’s no excuse for not creating anything. I know someone who went and she said it was just appalling. I’m not surprised as we have a poor squad and a manager unable to get the max out of it.

We’ve already had more shots than in about the last 4 games put together, and you just know that Newport will go and score with the first shot that they have:

This Newport Vs Grimsby game is just as grim to watch as it sounds. Grimsby possibly looking slightly better, but it's horrible football to watch. Every time I've seen Newport all they do is hoof it, how there fans can watch that week in, week out il never know.

Podge scores against us just for a fucking change.
And there is fuck all on our bench to try and change things around.

When we are losing and bringing on players like Clifton, Whitehouse and Cardwell you know things are bad

This has to be the worst possible advert for League Two.

Bit better second half. Not great overall but got the job done.

Yes that was poor. We have to balance it out though after the best possible adverts for league 2 against Leeds, Spurs, Leicester, Middlesbrough...

That just proved that Jolley has put together a crap squad. I had hoped that Limbrick might make a difference and change things around a bit but that second-half performance has probably (hopefully) cost him the job.

Yeah I was thinking after Fenty said we have a good squad that yeah it's not bad but after watching last night you realise how poor it is apart from a core 11.

Without Hanson, Ogbu and Wright we have no attacking threat. Our only decent midfielders are Cook, Robson and Hessenthaler. So no width and creativity and no good options to change it outside those three.

Defence is OK and has improved playing 3 center backs but we shouldn't need to play three to stop us conceding silly goals.

Not great especially as he said we used all our budget in the summer as well!
