Cheltenham is a lot of things - it certainly isn't a hovel.

I've been to Cheltenham quite a few times recently and overall it's a really lovely spa town with an impressive number of historic buildings in tact. I guess that's due to its former industry and rural location, it was left alone.

Clearly the poster has never been to Cheltenham or at most, strictly Whaddon Road only.

Surely nobody can be surprised by this?

Does anyone know how much clubs receive for a game being switched to the Sunday for this BBC mash up thing?

£12,500 I believe and £54,000 in prize money should you win.

Was expected to take a decent amount to Cheltenham but their pricing for this is poor. Full price? We charge usually £10-£15 for cup games inc FA Cup, MK only charged a tenner I think in R1!

Assume this means we will have to charge the same in the replay if needed as clubs have to agree pricing.

People have complained on Twitter about this.

I can't go anyway, but the price would have definitely done for me had I been able to.

Got a genuine chance of beating Bristol Rovers in our current form. Should be a good game.

I reckon we would have took about 800 if it had been priced between 10 to 15 pounds but now it's been put at full price can see only 300 going now.

To be fair to Cheltenham they probably recognise that Vale are such a big attraction to their supporters that they will willingly pay full price to see us. Can`t say I blame them.

You bet - this truly was the dream draw.

If we win, and what a shock that would be by the way, with a bit of luck we'll avoid all the Premier League and Championship teams and get Mansfield in rd 3 as well. That would be the ultimate.

If we get through we will get Reading or Swansea away guaranteed! We always get the worst draws even when we get to R3!

Our last few 3rd round draws have been plymouth home huddersfield away Doncaster at home. After beating doncaster we finally got villa away a decent draw then when we beat plymouth via a replay we got a poor draw brighton at home and lost huddersfield thumped us 4 nil I think it was.

Yep and Burnley away when they were Championship. Even in the league cup we managed to beat both Sheffield clubs who were Championship level at the time and ended up away to bloody Scunthorpe (who were also Championship at the time!) other than WBA away in the league cup and maybe Fulham the past 12 years have been shit in the cups!

Our best run in the cup was to the 5th round in 01/02. First two rounds were Kettering and Hinckley away - no big shakes and we're in the 3rd round for only the second time ever. We draw Oldham of Division 2. Dispose of them and we're in the 4th round - surely a big draw now....Burnley of Division 1 (but long before they looked like making the Premier League). Beat them 2-0 and we're now in the last 16 of the FA Cup - 8 of the teams are Premier League teams, surely we're going to get a big team - WBA (then Division 1) away!!!

Could not make it up.

Our best run was to the 6th round, back in 1980/81. First round was a comfortable 5-0 win at home to non-league side Leatherhead, second round was a 1-0 away win at fellow division 3 side Millwall. 3rd round was a 4-2 away win at non-league Maidstone United, followed by a 4th round tie away to 1st division side Leicester where we drew 1-1 then beat them 3-1 in a replay back at SJP. The 5th round was then an away tie at Newcastle where again me managed to get a 1-1 draw but this time we humbled our higher league opposition 4-0 at SJP. The run then ended in the 6th round, away to Spurs where they scraped past us 2-0 with goals from Paul Miller and Graham Roberts.

If we can beat Carlisle on Saturday we'll equal our best ever run, (3rd round 08-09 and 09-10).

08-09 we beat Ashford Town 4-0 in a replay after drawing 0-0 at their place, then beat Team Bath 1-0 away in the 1st round and Rochdale 2-0 at home in the 2nd. Eventually lost 3-4 at home v Derby in front of a club record just under 5k attendance.

09-10 we beat Mangotsfield 2-1 away, then in the 1st round beat Mansfield 2-1 away in a replay after a 1-1 at home, won 2-1 at Bath in the 2nd round and then lost 2-1 at Notts County in the 3rd round in a game that got postponed twice.

We got to the Semi's once before being robbed big time... 1954 as a third tier side (won the league that year too)

Beat Stanley Matthews Blackpool who were holders en route (boyhood Vale fan) quarter final victory at Leyton Orient I think to decide who'd be the first third tier semi finalist.

West Brom won 2-1 in the Semi at Villa Park coming from behind with a goal that was a penalty given despite being miles outside the area and had a late equaliser ruled out.

What could of been.

Had some good runs in the 90's knocking out holders Everton with Steve Guppy, Ian Bogie and Jon McCarthy tearing them apart on TV in the replay dubbed the St Valentines Day Massacre. Should of been 4 or 5

1998 of course we were an Allen Tankard missed penalty from changing history and denying Arsenal a double in the third round after a 0-0 draw at Highbury a 1-1 at Vale Park.

Since then partly because we dropped out the second tier so have entered in R1 rather than 3 we've only had Villa away as a Premier League opponent this millennium in the FA Cup. Gave them a game until I think it was Fortune went off injured and Baros picked us off 3-1. Recall after it kicking off because a copper shoved my 5ft Mum rushing to get down the street so the Vale fans started pilling in!

Funnily enough since 01/02 we've played 4 Premier League teams. In 2004 we played Fulham at Loftus Road, 2006 we played Newcastle at Whaddon Road, 2012 Spurs at White Hart Lane and in 2013 we played Everton at Whaddon Road.

The only one we laid a glove on was Fulham, Grant McCann scoring a 30 yard screamer past Edwin van der Sar to put us 1 up. We then held them at 1-1 until injury time when a Saha header from a corner sealed our fate.

We gave Newcastle a good game, but never really looked like scoring. Spurs (3-0) and Everton (5-1) had no mercy on us.

Given we took a fairly strong Bournemouth side to pens away earlier this season, I'd actually fancy us not to disgrace ourselves if we get lucky enough to get through and draw a Prem team..

The nil nil draw at highbury Tony Naylor had a goal disallowed for offside that was never off side in a million years.

Loved when they asked Rudge about it and he basically said they looked at their weakest player and man marked every other player except Keown! Said how Arsene is deciding if he should play Bergkamp or Anelka whilst he is deciding which washing machine to buy as the old one is knackered.

Good times. Great to see the legend honoured last week.

Should be a tasty tie at Bristol Rovers on Sunday. They’ve given us 1800 tickets, nice to be able to take a sizeable away following there not just full of ST holders like the league games are.

That only equalled our best run. In 1931 we reached the quarters, after beating Northfleet, Coventry, Derby, Bury and Leeds we bowed out after Sunderland took us to a replay. One of our greatest ever seasons

Looks currently like dumpster will still be in charge Saturday.

On that basis hopefully we can keep Shrewsbury to only 3 or 4.

In not sure if I'm looking forward to our game Vs Eastleigh or dreading it. The TV cameras are only there for one reason and thats for an upset. Pretty much any other season I'd say it was nailed on we would get beat, but I'm hoping we have professionalism and the ability to get the job done. Also hoping and expecting we go full strength and don't make any/many changes.

Artell is abrasive like Micky Adams... do what he did before the Shortwood tie on BT and invite a journalist into the dressing room before kick off to "see behind the scenes" only for Adams to then state "You see this c**t, hes only here to see you fall flat on your f*****g faces!, Don't give him what he wants" as this poor chap is stood there.
