Jesus that was shocking............too lightweight in midfield too small in defence
Be a lot better with Aimson but we are missing MJ Williams big time

Strange but true- if Stockport do grab a couple goals then they would be the first Tier 3 (aka National league) side to make the 2nd round at the expense of a Tier 4 (L1) or a Tier 5 (L2) team. I love the FA Cup!

stockport have just been relentless, bolton obviously have quality just not been given the time or the space, maybe that hustling isn’t something they’re used to in league 1

Not surprised - Quigley always plays like this against the weaker sides.

Good to see Crankshaw doing well at Stockport. The latest in a long line of transfer mistakes from us.

It should be easy shouldn`t it? 5 subs, one for each finger on one hand. Oh hang on a minute i can see how that happened down there!
Blame the Northern ref for giving false information. Those pesky 6 finger northerners. One thing is clear and its that we aren't to blame.

With the evidence now in abundance its a replay or an Exeter win, especially given Bradford also tried making a 6th sub but only couldn't due to 5 separate substitutions

indeed they are they got beat last season by some utter shite like Tranmere,Port Vale and Grimsby......no need to worry about losing to those this season

This sums up the entire debacle for me -

"What really niggles me is that Bradford allegedly tried to make a 6th sub as well (clearly believing that was the rule) but were prevented from doing so. We don't know the reason for not allowing the extra sub, but the officials did step in to prevent them breaking the rules, yet allowed us to do so. There's no consistency at all."

And a reply

"From what has been said, I think it's a reasonable guess that Bradford would also have been permitted to bring on a sixth substitute, were it not for the fact they'd already used up their four opportunities to interrupt play by bringing on a sub.

If that's the case then it could be argued that the rules were, essentially, the same for both sides, ie both teams would have been allowed to make six subs as long as they did so within the rule which says you can only interrupt a game four times to do so.

If Bradford got as far as filling in a card for their sixth substitute and handing it to the fourth official then I'd suggest both teams were playing to the same rules and it would be harsh to penalise one team and not the other. It's not our fault if the Bradford bench lost count of how many times they'd interrupted play to bring a substitute on."

Number or Exeter subs - 6.
Number of Bradford subs - 5.

End of debate.

Yes, but you tried to bring on a 6th and the officials stopped you bringing him on. Two issues here:

1) Why did the officials prevent you from breaking the rules but allowed us to do so?
2) Were Bradford also told from the start they could have 6 subs, and we were therefore playing by the same rules, and the only reason you were prevented from being allowed to make a 6th sub because you already interrupted play 4 times so therefore couldn't do so again?

Not that it is entirely relevant to this discussion but why is there 5 subs allowed in the FA Cup anyway?

I think it was initially a one-off last season due to Covid but has stuck (albeit the PL haven't reintroduced it I don't think).

Only applies to Carabao and FA Cup.

No idea but I wish it would just go back the basic 3 sub rule across the board, with every competition having the same rules.
That's what I think as well to be honest. Why over complicate things, especially as officials are clearly struggling.

Exactly, and it was still 0-0 when Exeter brought on the 6th giving them more fresh legs for extra time

Meanwhile, Lavery is doing an extensive warm up on the side of the pitch, stripped to come on, walks to the side of the pitch to come on and is told he can't.

Well it in part stuck, as we have now found out - It was amended so the 1 in extra time no longer exists like it did last season.
