You played a side with a patched up back four bereft of confidence, this was a good chance for you boys to get a win.

Hopefully 10 days of a new manager, returning players and a result in the derby will set us up, depending on the draw of course.

Well done to Coventry and Notts County today too.
You still had far more quality than we did. I'd say any time we play against higher division opposition is a good chance to get a win. It may be easier to beat a Sheff Wed on low confidence than a Wolves on high confidence but the challenges we face don't differ much from one to the other, it's just about how we do on the day.

Who was your left back though? I really hope he plays in the replay because he might be one of the worst individual performances I've seen at Brunton Park all season, and I include our players in that. Granted as you say it might be a confidence thing, but he was our best attacking outlet.

were you there?

No I didn’t bother in the end. But I saw a lot of Luton fans knocking about and wondered which one was Kenneth - I decided that one who looked like Harry Potter was him.

Speaking of Harry Potter, I did laugh at the Luton fans (not me because at the time I didn't understand and had to google what they meant) singing to Jonjo Shelvey implying that he looked like Lord Voldermort. Absolutely spitting image as it turns out.

Am I allowed to be a bit gutted after yesterday? I think we could've grabbed a replay out of that, but in true Luton style over the past couple of weeks, we've managed to do our best to help the opposition.

Probably our style of play didn't really help either, although I'm not necessarily saying this is a negative. I'm glad we gave it a right good go and didn't try and do what other teams do against higher league opposition and stick 10 men behind the ball - but that's not conducive for cup shocks. The diamond gave Newcastle acres of space in the middle of the park and Pelly wasn't up to covering two Premier League players running at him from all directions. Bringing on Cornick and narrowing the pitch second half seemed to help somewhat by giving us an extra man in that midfield area.

Marek Stech is a great shot stopper and had a tremendous start to the season, but he's suddenly going through a confidence crisis and become a bit of a liability. That is four goal conceding errors in four games. I don't wish to compare, but if Dean Brill was making these mistakes, he'd be castigated by now. James Shea has to be given an opportunity next weekend, because he's too good to be sitting on the bench.

Danny Hylton is a sensation. 17 goals for the season already and 44 goals in a season and a half. He should've had another one as he was clearly level with the defender. At 3-2 its game on. And with Elliot Lee hitting the bar, I think it proved that it wasn't going to be our day.

My seat was three rows from the back - that is a long, long way from the pitch.

It’s harsh to judge a player playing against that quality of opposition but what you’ve said there shows how poor Pelly was in my view. If played properly the diamond shouldn’t really give any space in the middle, the space will be out wide. Yet, in my view, because Pellys tracking back was so poor, they had space in both places! Whenever the ball broke into that area just in front of the back 4, Pelly was absolutely nowhere to be found. That’s how they had that very early chance which resulted in the first corner after all of 30 seconds. He just didn’t seem to do any of the jobs you’d expect from a DM at all, especially in that 10 Minutes spell. To be fair I think in that first half they were very good at beating our press, and also exploiting the space out wide to drag Berry/Lee out and then use the space in the middle that created. But did Pelly make a tackle or interception at all? He just wasn’t ready to play that role at the level required and in more general terms now, I think we are looking at a higher quality of player.

The change of shape second half definitely helped and in hindsight I wonder if NJ might have played Cornick from the start. But easy to say that now.

Mine was second row from the back, really high up! Still thought the view was pretty decent though.

It was bold to line up the way as we would in L2 for a normal league game. Again, trying not to be negative, but perhaps Jones needs to learn to play different ways against superior teams?

Perhaps, he said in his interview he was disappointed but had learned a lot from the day, so maybe it was that. We were well in the game at the time Stech dropped that clanger, which was the real turning point. He cant really legislate for his keeper dropping the ball in front of their striker from a yard out.

The way he picked them up at half time, changed the shape of the side and gave them confidence to put in that second half showing that really had Newcastle a bit worried, showed how good a manager he is becoming tactically, he has improved a lot since last season.

I will be honest, this is a very nice distraction we don’t really need

I’m not sure it’s bad as a distraction really, we got to the fifth round last time we got promoted from this league. I think it’s great for confidence more than anything else.

Us at Brentford was a very good defensive display. Didn’t create much (Stead’s goal was an absolute beauty mind) and had a tiny amount of possession, but we worked out quite quickly that if we just let them pass the ball from side to side and try to force them to cross it then we could deal with that pretty comfortably.

Least we'll be in the draw on Monday, though Wednesday will be huge favourites to progress.

First half wasn't a great watch, way too negative leaving Cosgrove and Hope up front alone, playing a sort of 8-0-2. Knew before the game Nuhiu was going to be dangerous in the air, and he hit the bar in the first minute, along with a few other chances.

Second half we gave it a go, still didn't trouble the keeper overly much but it gave them something to think about. Cosgrove and Hope put in a great shift.

Wednesday were decent considering some of the players they are missing, and no doubt it'll be an even stronger team in the replay if it's a good draw.

I think it shows you how much we've developed when we are disappointed at losing to a full strength PL side away from home. We didn't disgrace ourselves and based on our second half performance we more than matched them. Its a shame that the uphill task we were given was again due to a Stech mistake. It gave Newcastle confidence and for that short period after we lacked it and that was basically game over. You don't give a PL side a 3 goal start. Had we restricted them to a one goal lead then who knows. Still we can hold our heads high and be proud of the fact that there wasn't a lot between the two sides. We had our big day and now its time to move on and concentrate on wrapping up promotion. As NJ said in his interview he has learnt about certain players and by that I presume he means whether they will feature in the longer term plan for the club. I feel a bit for Pelly who has never really found his position. He did have couple of decent games at the beginning of the season but like many other fans I believe it's perhaps time for him to move on seek a new challenge. Stech frustrates the hell out of me with his handling. A good keeper he certainly is but to reach the next level he needs to improve on the basics, taking control of his area, catching and holding on to the ball. A last word on the fans. Fantastic support despite being so far from the pitch. A credit to the club.

Bravo Sir. The £200,000 will come in very nicely this month.

Certainly the best since the Billy Davies days, with the potential to be a lot better if we don't get picked apart.

Missing 5 or 6 of the first eleven yesterday.

Leeds lad accused of spitting again... was accused of it against Vale in League cup and got away with it as no clear evidence.

That was cracking and well deserved. Better team today and wanted it more. Wilmott had gob all down the front of his shirt which the lino saw Sinz do hence the red card. Should get a few weeks ban for that the filthy little tw@t.

Impressive wins for Coventry, Notts, Newport and Yeovil. With us, Stevenage and Carlisle all still in the hat aswell L2 still going strong. Only 6 from L1 left in it.

If that was Cardiff’s strongnest side yesterday I’d fancy us to beat them at home on that showing and from what I’ve seen of them on sky in recent weeks.

Good job County. Fully deserved win and the fact that Leeds made 9 changes (some Leeds fans on social media are using this as an excuse) means shit to me. Any club that fields their kids and bench warmers so they can, ahem,'focus' on the league deserves to go out.

I wouldn't be upset if you took him of our hands,i don't just mean for yesterday but the shit style of football he has us playing that even Graham Taylor would have been ashamed of.

Nine tenths of what most Leeds fans say is an excuse for something or other... the other one tenth is about how most other football fans are more interested in hating Leeds than following their own clubs.

Great guy but he's done nothing to make me consider him as a viable managerial appointment. Same goes for Graham Alexander.

I'm hoping Alex Neil is going to be here for the long term anyway.
