Has Connor Jennings played for Macc in the Trophy while on loan though?
Expect we'll change the forward pairing, otherwise line-up as Barrow. Probably a narrow home win, to give us hope for the second leg.

No as he was cup tied due to playing for you in the trophy, vs. Wrexham I think? He's just bound to score in one of the games isn't he...

Close first leg, followed by reduced prices for the second leg at prenton and liverpool having no game , if the media get behind it and the club promote it the right way we could get a bumper gate for the second leg.

Congratulations to Macclesfield Town for beating us last night. It sounds as if you were the better team on the night. Good luck in the semis!

I also particularly liked the huge photo of habitual criminal and notorious gangster Chris Byrne up in the McIlroy Suite :eyes:
We'd never have become a football league club if it wasnt for him. My favourite Macc player of all time. God knows what sort of Top Lad status would be bestowed upon him if he was an FGR player!!!

Doesn't he score against you pretty much every time he plays against you?
When we had him on loan he only scored 1 goal -- away at Macclesfield.

Another brace of great goals from a Grimsby loanee. Much more professional performance than down in Dulwich but will need to really up our game for Saturday; play like we have done in the last 3 games and we may Arsenal it up and have no chance going into the 2nd leg. Going to be very tough especially as Tranmere effectively have a 1 goal head start as McNulty is guaranteed to score a header from a corner at our place...
Browne or Summerfield?

Browne. 2 really good goals cutting in from right wing. 1st one running across edge of the box then firing back into top right corner, 2nd cutting in and curling into bottom left corner.

Well FA Trophy fever has reached Macc already, with an expected gate of well over 900 home fans. The match is being billed as the biggest in the clubs history, for this weekend at least anyway.

OK maybe a slight temperature as opposed to fever, but I personally hope Tranmere aren't overly bothered about the Trophy and we can take advantage. The competition holds a special place in MTFC's history so I'd love to get to the final (and win it of course). Having said all that, I think tranmeres squad is strong enough that whatever XI they put out it will be too strong for us over the 2 legs. Can see us getting a draw tomorrow but losing by the odd goal next week.

not sure why you think that, as you've already played us home and away this season and won 4-3 on aggregate!

One slight difference to those games is that a certain Andy Cook was out injured. He`s not now.
I'm not expecting Andy Cook to start this game, though the fact he's available is a boost. The absence of James Wallace means that there will be more protection from the midfield than was evident on New Year's Day, lack of which contributed to our demise.
Mellon takes this competition seriously, but it hasn't fired up the supporters to date. Really hard to call how many of the SWA will travel to this one.

I'd fall over laughing but it wouldn't be too safe on your terraces. Your defended managed to talk himself out of a card somehow.

Nondescript game for the rest, Macx with more possession but not done much with it. Tranmere solid but poor in attack. Can't see us being as wasteful second half.

Dunno what the penalty was for, but Holroyd has been thrown around like a rag doll all half. Lots of the ball but not sure where a goal is coming from.

1-1 it finished. Probably a fair result. I'm guessing there's no away goals rule in this competition?

Noone onto the blatant handball for the equaliser? Keep an eye out for it on highlights.

Another poor game. Our players need a rocket.

Plus this still image of the McNulty header towards his own goal doing the rounds online... not quite over by the looks of it.

Can't tell from the still image if whole ball crossed the line, and from the highlights someone defo got wiped out for the pen. No arguments from me.

Anyway, that's the first part of my prediction come in.......

The ball still looks airborne in that pic, so it's a bit misleading. As for the pen, Harris definitely gets wiped out just after his flick on. Regardless of all that, we didn't sound convincing and some are saying Macclesfield were the better team. This tie still could go either way.

As far as I'm concerned, York must win tonight to stand any chance. They're not coming to SB and winning.

Will be interesting to see what team we go with.

Howe's usually come in for FA trophy games, but I think Cowley would prefer to leave the 'keeper and back four alone and change the midfield around by bringing Whitehouse, Ginnelly and Ward in. Angol and Margetts will probably be up front. Doubt Rhead, Arnold and Power will play.

At least 5 changes I'd have thought.
