Having watched the replay I can confirm that was a blatant, stonewall penalty.

That angle is impossible to judge from IMO, but the ifollow angle was crystal clear. Ref got that one spot on IMO.

Oh yeah absolutely, better than 2 draws.

Think it does show a bit of perspective to us though. We've been good/very good against the bottom half sides we've played and not so great against the top half ones, with a couple of exceptions either way. We have a squad that is probably somewhere around the bottom of the top half in reality, no better, no worse. We had an excellent run where we won all the games we really needed to - Pools, Crawley H, Colchester, Rochdale A and that's elevated us, but there have still been half a dozen games where we've been very second best. The transfer business in the winter looks to have done what it was supposed to, but we need another very productive window to even think about an assault on the top echelons next season. Fortunately, I think that's all very possible from what I've heard around the club.

FWIW I don't know a great deal about Gillingham and that might well be because in my time following Stags you've mainly been a club that are a division (or two sometimes?) above us.

Like there are certain teams that we seem to play whenever we're in the 4th tier but you aren't one of them, to me. Feel your 'natural level' (which is kinda bollocks really but is also a thing like when you look at a club's last 30 years or so) is 3rd tier while ours is 4th tier.

With your new ownership I would not be surprised to see you up there next season. And despite our respective fortunes this season I would not be surprised one bit if you go back to L1 before we do.
