Margate just beat me in the 2nd qualifying for the FA Cup. They are in the leagues below but outclassed us which is annoying.

Sat in 5th at the moment and kept 4 clean sheets so far which is more than we managed last season. Would be good to get the play offs this year.

I went for nothing. Coaching badges presumably speed up your ascent (or do they actually do anything except give your team's training stats a boost? Maybe they make lower league teams respect you a bit more?). I'm still on my National B license...

Yeh I also went for nothing - but (despite being three leagues below) I have got up to a Continental C licence after five years.

It'll make it more rewarding when I win the Champions League for the fifth time in a row, that's for sure :).

Yeah, I think I'll do the same. It'll make world domination taste all the more sweet.

Have you had to ask your clubs to be put through coaching badges or do they offer of their own accord?

Two promotions?! Joke.

& yeh I always request them, usually try and do the bulk of it during the summer so it doesn't affect the season too much.

Yep I request them. Brackley couldn't afford it, Bolton let me go on two, and for some fucken reason Burnley think I'm "needed on the training ground" even though we've got about nine coaches. The fucks. (edit: I've also managed Bradford Park Avenue. I'm a B specialist. Could be Barcelona next. Or Berwick Rangers. Or Bali.)

yellow Two promotions, one JPT win, all on a tiny wee budget. Managers like me are gold dust. Your continued failure is evidence of this.

How many staff do others have, btw?

I just pack it out with whatever they'll let me have. I don't generally bother with more than one physio (is there any benefit to that whatsoever?) but I like to have lots of scouts out on assignments and as many coaches as I'm allowed. Reserve and under-18 staff... just the bare minimum to keep our youth rating thingy.

Ha! One promotion, and I'm also going to count Torquay winning the Conference in 2019 as my success as I built the team.

Just wait until I get back to back promotions with Blackpool Smaticus :cool1:

Okay. If you could have it done at least by the time FM 2016 comes out, that'd be great.

Would you not be better of spending wages on players?

I generally keep the U18 stuff as it is in a career game like I'm doing because you're never at a place long enough to see U18's come through and be decent. Same applies for the scouts.

I trim the backroom staff right down. Under me, I'll have an assistant manager, fitness coach, GK coach, coach and physio.

Naw. Well, maybe in the lower lower leagues, but then again you can't employ a lot of staff there anyway. I like to develop players, and you need a big pack of coaches to do that, otherwise your training ratings suffer and your players don't improve as much as they could.

Got offered a Stenhousemuir interview, but they turned me down [wasn't too disappointed really].

Just been offered the Macclesfield job on the 15 October. They are 18th in the Conference Prem. Must admit I'm surprised to have been offered a job in the Conference given that my experience is on the lowest possible setting. I thought I'd have to start in the Conf North/South.

I always try and have my coaching up to a good standard and try to improve my facilities. I like to think that I leave a legacy behind off the pitch that at least makes up a little bit for the crap I put out on the pitch.

I've just been asked if I want to arrange extra-time in my next FA trophy fixture. What the fuck kind of competition lets teams make up the rules as they go along?

So it would seem. You can tell I haven't done much lower league managing in my time playing FM.

Like a dog with two dicks. Or is it tails? Either way, I'm excited.

The good times are coming to the people of Macclesfield.

This just happened in my game. Arsenal's defence clearly still in need of fine tuning, even in 2027.

Managing in the Conference is proving a little trickier than I expected. Can't get any consistency going, seems like a run of wins are always followed by a run of defeats.

I have just been able to bring in a few loan players though so hopefully we might start to improve.

I'm currently playing when I really should be marking essays. The pull is just too great.

Starting 3rd season with Wolves finished 14th last year which is cool for my first year in the Prem. Ended the season in shite fashion but I was never in danger of getting relegated, Afobe had a bit of a purple patch but he's 2 in 2 already for the start of this year. He grabbed about 20 overall in his first Prem season and I fought off some pathetic bids that were about half his valuation in the Summer with him desperate to leave. Sako and Drage got about 10 each too - Adama Traore on loan from Barca won my player of the year but he's now far too good to get back, which sucks.

Same tactics since the start and added these players in the summer

It's a window I'm really annoyed with as all my targets went elsewhere despite me getting giddy at having a £23m budget to spend and all my deadwood leaving the club. Rodriguez and Vinicius have potential through the roof but neither got a work permit - so NO IDEA what happens there, do I just wait for them to become citizens?! FFS.
Rajkovic is superb and joins his old team-mate Luka Jovic (Red Star wonderkids FTW) - Wanted to keep Coates after a really good season on loan but his wage demands were strangely obscene so settled for Castan as a replacement (Danny Batth remains and Joe Gomez is acting as cover while he develops so that's cool). Vadala looks like another wonderkid that popped up thanks to my scout and he's available for 3.6m and NO other club competed with me for him which is weird because he looks incredible (he's also injured ffs).
Finally decided to upgrade my Champ standard midfielders Rowe, Evans (who stays as back-up) and McDonald - but again, couldn't secure who I wanted, including a 5 star Argentinian who had no interest despite a 6m big being accepted and me being more than willing to triple hia River Plate wages (Prick). So I panic signed de Guzman and Tachtsidis.

and then lost the plot, paying £5.75m for Espinoza who seems 'alright' and then £2.6m for Gray who I'm not sure will ever be as good as my scouts reckon. Salvaged the situation a little by getting Nani on loan from Man Utd for the season and only paying 40% of his wages.

Rajkovic
Jenkinson Batth Castan Garbutt
Tachtsidis de Guzman
Nani Vadala/Drage Sako
Afobe/Jovic

Went ballsy and said a top-half finish - which gave me money I literally can't spend. Still have about £100k a week of my wage budget left. but I refuse to just sign someone who I'll be desperately trying to flog in a year's time. I also doubt I'll finish top-half with that team but I like a challenge.

One thing that fucks me off greatly is how a rejected bid automatically means 'I WANT A NEW CONTRACT' even if you've given them one a few months ago. I got a pathetic offer of £5m for Batth from Lazio and he wants more money, I got a £4m offer for Jenkinson from Newcastle which was just a complete waste of my time and...he wants more money. I got an offer off Swansea for Afobe that included only £2.2m up-front (He's scored nearly 60 goals in 2 seasons!) and he was mad I rejected it and...wanted a new contract. Bastards, the lot of them - they'd be nothing without me.
