From a Vale perspective am pleased with the resilience defensively. Something we certainly were not four months ago. Not so good going forward but had our moments.

We had a great last five minutes, should have scored. But then Southend missed plenty too. A draw a fair result, neither side should be happy with that.

That was a tetchy last 20 minutes and how the 2nd and 3rd goals went in after the earlier chances was ridiculous. Not sure why Bolton took off Doyle because he was always the threat of a goal, can see why they’re in the autos tho, good passing side.

That is a massive result. It JUST keeps our hopes alive, or prolongs the inevitable. Another 2 hard games coming up against Morecambe and Exeter.

They were gobbling up every cross we put in. Their centre backs won everything in the air. We were toothless in the sense that we kept trying and failing at the same thing and not trying a different approach. Maybe we don’t have the players to come up with something different which is something that needs addressed in the summer.

Please play like that against Morecambe! Tbf we had our fair share of chances too. But just not good enough today. We had a free hit because of the gap we opened up but pressure back on now. We struggle against the big physical teams that press us and play into target men. Carlisle did that brilliantly when we played them earlier in season. We probably need 3 wins from last 4 now. With Morecambe being a huge game

Thought we was rewarded for our patience against Barrow who's back 5 were difficult to break down, based on the second half we deserved the win as we took our chances when they came our way. Second half Barrow rarely troubled us apart from a few half chances I thought.

But the key point of the game was when Banks missed a free header from a corner for Barrow, the best chance of the game until that point - Things would've been different had that gone in.

We had to win and we did, hard game on Tuesday against the league leaders. Every game for us is basically must win now.

Before today I thought so too. We have been good since Jan. But as mentioned above they beat us and it's in their hands now.

Wouldn't mind Grimsby playing like that against them Tuesday though.
