Which is another big problem for book fans I think. They don't just get spoiled by what they see, they get spoiled by omission too.

It's been a possible issue for a while, but not so much this series. There are vast swathes from the book that will never make it to the screen, but stuff like the Iron Islands issues which have only just started to be shown were actually much earlier on in the books - meaning that you can't really say something will definitely be omitted for good as it might turn up later on in a different way. Alternatively, quite a lot of stuff from the books has just been given to existing characters so the TV audience don't get too confused (Young Griff storyline seems to be with Tyrion right now, Sansa took the Jeyne Poole path etc.). The biggest shocks are those which no-one really saw coming, like Melisandre revealing her true self or Roose's demise (in that way).

I really enjoyed the Iron Islands storyline in the books so I'm looking forward to that. Hopefully we will get to see the 'gravedigger' theory as well this series. More Davos too please, he's fast becoming a favourite of mine.

Considering the theories
about young Griff, I guess they're just leaving the Blackfyre stuff out all together

I'm hoping Sansa also gets the LS storyline in some way.

There's a bit in the books involving Tyrion, another dwarf and a pig.

It's not a David Cameron-esque scene before you ask.

It was a favourite part of the later books for me

As well as the iron islands.

The season finale will be 69 minutes long, the longest GoT episode yet.

Did they just
confirm the Lyanna-Jon Snow fan theory
?

This series is fixated with bloated corpses and twisted death-masks. Most other shows would have hard-cut to another scene or image right before the ropes snapped in that execution scene, or else preserved the sombreness in some other way, but of course in GOT the camera lingers on it for as long as possible. It doesn't make any sort of dramatic sense, but at least they're consistent.

Is there a good way to watch this online? Up to episode 3 on watchseries but it's effort going through the streams.

Unless (recently, anyway, good ol Ned got a poetic offing back in the day...) one's name is Stannis, strangely.

Is he even gonner be mentioned again? Does Davos know about Shireen yet? All of that happened about a week ago in show-time, as far as I can work out, so I can't tell if there's another shoe waiting to drop or they've just decided to move on pronto.

He knows Shireen is dead because he asked Melisandre and her look told him as much, he doesn't know how or why though. We're supposed to take it that he just presumed they'd both died in the fighting I think.

i think the fact they didn't show stannis' death is telling

I think the emphasis in his death was more on the fact that Brienne had finally achieved (one of) her missions, so the camera was on her not him.

He's gone.

I think they put the line about him being dead in the conversation between Roose and Ramsey to remove any ambiguity, which I don't think they originally intended.

There was some official GOT book released last year based on the show that said that specifically said that Stannis was killed after the battle of Winterfell by Briene. Think that's pretty much been taken as confirmation.

Just caught up with this week's and I'm still struggling. Far too much going on over far too many characters and locations. I'm really starting to lose patience with it.

I think it might be better taking a break and doing a marathon watch if it's pissing you off.

Cue shit jokes about running.

I think I need to re-watch the last two series. I didn't like the last one much so switched off for most of it. This one has been better but the damage is done.

If someone could explain what the fuck is going on with Ayra I'd be much obliged. It seems like she's been fucking around getting nowhere for years.

That they have dwelt for so long on the Arya-Faceless Men plot strand is evidence of a weird misunderstanding, even incompetence, on the part of the writers during the adaptation process. Those sections are largely internal monologue in the book, punctuated by maybe three or four scenes of film-able action. Total. Yet in the TV series they've been given equal weighting over nearly two seasons. Doesn't make any sense.

Maybe it'll all fall in to place one day but I have no idea what she's doing, or is aiming to do. Completely bored by it.

And where did Jon Snow's fat mate pop up from?
