The next series set up nicely, quite looking forward to it.

I'm genuinely curious as to how The Winds Of Winter will differ to what we have watched over the last couple of months. I'd like to say it's likely to be released before series 7, but knowing Martin the TV series will have completely finished before that happens. It's already been stated there will only be a further two series. Is it unreasonable to think book 6 might not be out before mid 2018? Looking at his record, no.

With his pissing around and delaying of yet another book, I think Martin has shot himself in the foot somewhat. I strongly suspect that with all plot lines in the TV series now being ahead of what is written, the interest in the next book will be less than what it would have been, even if the literature and show end up differing wildly.

It'll still top the best seller list for weeks so I doubt it'll bother him that much. It's frustrating that he never gives any updates either as you don't know whether we can expect an annoucment tomorrow or if he's only about a quarter of the way through. It's understanable why he doesn't though when by his own admission he consistently misses deadlines and the fan backlash would be pretty severe if he said something that missed it completly.

He's beyond a joke when it comes to writing pace. As I've said previously, if he used half the time he's spent patting himself on the back whilst travelling the world pissing around at book conventions and fan meet ups actually writing the books instead, the series would likely have been finished by now. We currently stand on 3 books in the last 17 years.

I've pretty given up with him, I used to regularly visit his website for updates but it's years since I bothered. Despite reading GOT from the start in the mid 90s, I've got my doubts whether I'll even bother with the next one. I never thought it would happen, but I find myself more interested in the TV show than the books these days, and I suspect there are quite a few other first edition readers who feel the same.

Yeah! How dare the fat c*** enjoy the fruits of his labour. Get your fucking head down you lazy fuck and get those books written at a pace which suits us, not you. You time wasting, life-living, ungrateful sack of cocks. We made you what you are Martin, and we can fucking unmake you just as easy.

*I've never read one of his books.

That was like reading one of my old school reports.

He's sold his story to HBO now, where's the motivation to finish it?

The innate impulse towards creative expression which prompts someone to start writing a 10 trillion word saga in the first place.

All the people shouting "get writing so you don't die before it's finished" probably takes a bit of the shine off it though.

Start of filming for Season 7 delayed due to no snow on location yet. Fucks sake.

At least there is actually a reason behind the move rather than for no apparent reason.

Seems that a lot of the episodes will be up to 20 minutes longer than usual too.

So really this season won't be too much shorter? 7 episodes, for every 3 that are 20 mins longer its an extra episode, so could have like 8 1/2 episodes worth atm.

It's not right bringing a winter time show out in the summer time.

Isn't that the cause for the late release? They needed to film during the winter so had to wait for the weather.

That is indeed the case.

However, it's a bit hard to accept that Winter is Here when I'm sat here melting in June.

HYPE though.

Makes me wonder if they'll push it back even further next year.

They should just push the showing of it up to Autumn time then when it is colder and darker and not bright and sunny.
