Take Pearson so we don't have to pay him off...
Maybe, but Johnson has a lot of history with the club having been a player here as well, when he applied to Oldham for example Lansdown was one of the people he went to for help. Having someone like Lansdown as owner must be most managers wish, rarely says no to a request for funds and willing to give his managers time.I think you're a bit rose-tinted here, Villa are a huge, cash-rich club with massive appeal for any manager in this league.
Lee Johnson doesn't really strike me as the most loyal of managers either based on his previous moves.
That said, this is Villa and they will probably go for a 'name' rather than something sensible.
I believe he had asked to use Steve Lansdown as a reference for when he applied for the Oldham job.Maybe, but Johnson has a lot of history with the club having been a player here as well, when he applied to Oldham for example Lansdown was one of the people he went to for help. No doubt Villa has appeal, but in their current situation you'd have to think managers will think twice about whether its the right move for them at the time if their current team is in the top 6. They look more likely to go down again at the moment rather than even pull things together.
Thing is I would agree with you, we'd struggle to persuade a manager to leave a club in this division for us as well. However its a different story about losing your manager, if it were Cotterill and not Johnson I'd agree he'd take the move to Villa, but the combination of Johnson's history with the club, his relationship with Lansdown and how badly Villa are doing this season (the key one) I think the move may not seem so appealing. If Norwich or Newcastle were looking if their managers were poached then yeah he'd be gone in a heartbeat and you wouldn't blame him, but Villa are in a mess, who knows what state they'll be in by January when they can buy again.I kind of have to agree on the rose tinted glasses. Consider us, we've finished 5th and 9th, and look well placed for another play off push. Better than most teams in this league can hope for. And yet, we'd struggle to take a manager off 90% of the teams in this league (partly because we'd never want to)
If Lee Johnson had the chance to go to Villa he'd snap your hand off for it. Don't get too excited by the new stand you barely fill and a Chelsea loanee scoring some goals.
The reason for that is because you're one of the smallest clubs in the division with a small budget.I kind of have to agree on the rose tinted glasses. Don't need Tammy, got Scotty Hogan. The reason for that is because you're one of the smallest clubs in the division with a small budget.
By law, we can't fill even half of the new stand. You seem bitter that Tammy didn't join you, chin up.
...until he gets crocked again.Don't need Tammy, got Scotty Hogan.
True, we do have a small budget, but given the way we use it we seem to be able to fight at the top end of the division pretty consistently.

There isn't a stadium in England that can hold 6 figures...? Anyway - most people love Griffin Park, certainly has a lot more to it than most stadiums in this division (before you start jumping up and down and getting yourself all in a muddle, that's not me saying Ashton Gate is crap, don't read stuff into things that actually isn't said...)If now isn't the time to time to get excited then I'm not sure when is. Have you been selling your dump out every week then? Just I see you struggle to get 6 figures?
I wouldn't class your 9th as a play off push either, you looked like you may get sucked in to the relegation fight with a couple of months left.

Griffin Park isn't a dump at all.You were being patronising. I could probably take that from a Newcastle or Norwich fan, but a Brentford fan? About empty seats? Really?
I agree about the stadium btw. I love my visits to Griffin Park. It maybe a dump but I enjoy it more than say Reading.
Griffin Park isn't a dump at all.
Now who's being patronising.Course it isn't to you. You're from ooooppp North. To us civilised southern folk......
Dump? Old fashioned? Point being they can't fill it. And capacity is what? 12000?
Actually no, my point was that someone who can't shift 10000 tickets at home shouldn't really be mocking " a new stand that we can barely fill"
For the record I like Brentford. A lovely little club punching well above its weight.
It's a fucking quality ground. It is, it's a shithole, good away end though.
I thought it was Sheffield Wednesday who had the MASSIVE tag.Bristol City are massive. Watch out.
I thought it was Sheffield Wednesday who had the MASSIVE tag.
and we will keep finding out by the look of it.We are all massive down here, as you've found out.
Was only mocking it because it seems to be the reason every Bristol City fan has gone all billy-big-bollocks this year.Course it isn't to you. You're from ooooppp North. To us civilised southern folk......

Who's gone "Billy-big-bollocks"? I'm enjoying the ride, new stadium with decent numbers at home games and a half decent side on the pitch with a manager who loves the club. Was only mocking it because it seems to be the reason every Bristol City fan has gone all billy-big-bollocks this year.
Griffin Park is a dump, it's falling apart, the toilets and food facilities are horrible, but atmosphere wise it's one of the best in this league (notice I say one of the best, not *the* best, before you start listing clubs with supposedly better atmospheres to try and prove me wrong) and I wouldn't give up the terraces for anything.
Also, if we're going to throw attendance arguments around, I think we're doing pretty well to get 10,000 these days given the attendances we've had in the past, and the huge number of clubs there are in London.
Anyway, done biccering with fans who get their knickers in a twist because a couple of people suggested their manager might quite fancy the job at Villa.

No one is going billy big bollocks about this. Was only mocking it because it seems to be the reason every Bristol City fan has gone all billy-big-bollocks this year.
