Any one else just want it to be the weekend* already? It's felt like one of the longest breaks in an age.

No.

I'd like it to be Friday though, that's when we're playing

Doesn't help that the national team is cack, I used to look forward to watching England but I can't justify making time to watch them on the TV nowadays, never mind going to games. Scotland and Wales cocking up after giving it the big un these past few months was refreshing though.

Hopefully we can move up the table now NP is a gonner, confirming Chris Powell ASAP is important too if that's going to be the case, it won't be healthy for the players or him until a manager is appointed.

I'm the same. Haven't watched a qualifier or friendly in years - last one I watched was probably under Sven or Capello. Have absolutely no interest in it and even when we're eliminated from a tournament I'm no longer gutted - just accept it and look forward to the rest of Summer football. The fact that Allardyce/Southgate were/are our best hope just says all you need to know.

There is a write up in the brummie mail saying something like villa are trying to be like Birmingham city but it will never happen. Without slagging the blues off what difference is there between the two Birmingham clubs? Without stating the obvious by saying villa are a much bigger club. This is at villa and blues fans and also fans of other clubs which have met both sets of fans and what their view is of both clubs.

Blues are apparently proper brummies, they are supposedly the working class club of brum, more down to earth etc etc . Villa are meant to be the exact opposite, fans from out of town mainly, arrogant, suburban Fanbase etc etc.

My view is that I never really had a rivalry with blues because where I'm from its villa and wolves so they were my main rivalry. Obviously as I got older it got rammed into me that we were meant to hate them and a part of me does. On their day I think they have superb support and they have the ultimate underdog tag attached to themselves. I think KRO is a great song and when in full voice it sounds great. I also see them as bitter bastards and can't handle the status we once had and also could never handle the fact that they never had it all their own way off the field too, a claim that they will never admit to. My hate for them is only on match day where I'm sure villa fans from brum hate them every day. Why would I hate a club when growing up we hardly played them and I never knew any blues fans. Second city Derby coming up, may the best team win.

To a complete outsider and neutral there hasn't been a massive difference in the two Clubs in the immediate past if I'm being honest. Of course Villa are a bigger team, I'm not saying they're not - but it's like saying Forest are a bigger Club than Derby because they won two European Cups in the 70s. Very successful back when but it means very little in the present and has little bearing on anything now, especially with your recent struggles.

Barring the O'Neill years where you were challenging for 6th/7th there's been very little to cheer about since Graham Taylor. Albeit BC have had even less, they have at least won a trophy. I obviously can't comment on the geography and locality of certain sets of fans but you've got to think of the present...and the present is a bit sh*t. I'm allowed to say that by the way because we're right there with you.

size has no bearing on this discussion. There is no argument in the size, but as you pointed out both are shit. Infact blues are the better team as we speak and have a good manager. I remember a blues fan saying on a radio phone in that there is not a city in Britain where two clubs fans are so different like they are in brum.

Blues supporters don’t identify with Villa and vice-versa, although it is probably the same with any club rivalry really. Blues are more self-deprecating as a whole, whereas Villa seem to take themselves a lot more seriously. It was noticeable at the Cup match last year that there was a lot more Blues than Villa pre-drinking in the city centre. Stan Collymore admitted in his autobiography that Villa’s support mainly derive from people who travel into Birmingham on match days from Staffordshire, East Midlands and beyond, whereas Blues source their support from the city itself. Not to say that Villa don’t have a bigger overall fanbase, you just won’t find many Blues from outside of the West Midlands.

I think we do take ourselves too seriously. I think a lot of villa fans look down on blues, when in reality we are all the same.

Living in Warwickshire I see a lot more Blues fans than I do Villa for what it counts. Hell I see more Blues fans than I do Coventry, which is supposed is the only club in Warwickshire...

warwickshire is meant to be full of villa. Just goes to show all is not what it seems.

Probably should state that it's only Leamington Spa I was referring to, but still I see more Blues fans than any others.

Tammy Abraham scored 20 mins into his England U21 debut.

Get him off at HT so he's alright for Friday!

Swift scored a belter as well. Hayden, Grealish, Iorfa all also in the team, some very good young players in this league

Tammy just scored his second. Has had a really good game. God knows who we are going to replace him with next season. ( unless we go up and get him on loan :animatedf:)

Class player yes, but that's simply not true. We've had 10 separate goalscorers already this season.

I doubt we will have as good a striker next season, but 2 months ago we all said we'd struggle to replace Kodjia! And we may have a ready-made replacement already in Engvall who knows, we haven't seen him yet
He's scored nearly half of our league goals.

As you said, the chances of us having a striker as good as him next season are very slim, so we need to make the most of him being here for the limited time that he is.

Classy finish for the second goal today as well, just watched it.

We've scored a lot of goals. 11 by other players is more than 6 teams have got in total.

Of course I hope we make the most of him but it's just so typical of you, ultra pessimistic and then as soon as there's a sniff we might actually be pretty decent it's suddenly "promotion or bust"

It's not that sudden, but we're not going to replace him.

I'm not being pessimistic at all, I'm being realistic. I don't think promotion will happen either, but we need to make the most of having a prolific goalscorer here.
