Nice to see so many Villa fans in this part of the forum. Pity they won't be joining us in League One next season.......

Is the Championship ready to invite the mighty Sunderland back again :cool1: been a long time coming but pretty much confirmed this weekend.

Think we might be here a while this time round.

We can't afford to sack him and the miserable bastard can't afford to fail with us as he won't get a job in the PL again. So most likely he'll stick around and ruin another season.

Ideally we would get a young manager who knows the championship, slash the wage bill, bring in a few decent young lads, a few loans and prepare the long rebuild in the FL to a sustainable side. But our owner wants to sell and we are massively in debt so who knows whats going to happen. Quite frankly if you asked me I think we're more likely to have a double relegation then be challenging for the title next year.

Our fans have always wanted Moyes here, he's friends with our owner and is an occasional visitor to Ashton Gate when he's out of work, and I've always said it's ridiculous/unrealistic but if he cocks up this job then yeah as you say I can't see him getting another PL job so he'll end up having to look further down the ladder.

Sunderland will still be seen as an attractive proposition, your best bet would be to raid the league for young talent. Depends how rich you really are, but you should be going for players like Sessengon, Dunk, Charlie Taylor etc because if you do get up there's a big chance they could make the step up and their values will sky rocket.

We have the biggest debt in Europe outside of Manchester United I read the other day. Approximately 160 million. I'd be surprised if we can signed anyone - including frees - without selling first, let alone getting the leagues best players. Obviously we will have parachute payments but a lack of TV deals and falling matchday revenue will see us in a whole world of pain.

Inf act a loan of £83m to Security Bank Corporation needs to repayed by August 2019, fail to pay it and we will be looking at administration. The vast amount of parachute payments we will receive will be swallowed up by this loan.

I would pay for his flight to your place if he wanted to move to Bristol City. The bloke has been nothing short of a disaster for us, the third worst manager in our history statistically - he appalling transfer policy, tactics and general negativity have left little sympathy for the bloke. Doesn't help he wont shut up about his time at Everton either. He's on a massive salary and a five year contract and quite frankly has done nothing (and I mean that) in his time at the club to justify it.

£160m debt isn't that much more than a few clubs at this level. I think Brighton, Blackburn and Cardiff all have over £100m. We're at about £70m.

It's modern football at the moment.. I'm still waiting for the inevitable crash, which will not be pretty for a lot of teams.

Moyes has really gone off the boil since his time at United in which I think he was harshly sacked so it's surprising he's ended up and Sunderland and is currently failing.

That's a hell of a lot of debt, parachute payments getting lumped to you in one sum may encourage your spending but we'll see, you've still got sellable assets as well. Players like Defoe, Borini (is he still at Sunderland?), Oviedo and Pickford you could all make big money from.

I'd have Moyes here, he'd be much better than fucking Lee Johnson has been for us since October. He wouldn't come near us if we got relegated mind, but I do wonder where he'll end up should he get sacked at the end of the season or whenever if you do come down.

I mean it is the second biggest in Europe, its pretty big!! I think the problem is that we have an owner who is refusing to put any more money into the club and wants out. We have a stupidly high wage budget (1.5m a week) and little sell-able assets.

We could well be the next Leeds or Portsmouth if things are not managed correctly.

The paracute payment (30m I think) is going to be swallowed up by debt repayment. Borini is still our player but has been awful this season sadly, hopefully someone in Italy will take him.

I knew you lot would be down there again this season when you not only signed but played the likes of Donald Love who couldn't even cut it for us in League One! Your recruitment needs a complete overhaul.

I would imagine you would go for a big name again should Moyes get sacked but it sounds like a perfect job for Grayson, he's done a brilliant job with us on a tiny budget.

Hows Pickford doing? He's the best keeper I've seen at North End, loved him.

Played well for us after initially struggling, unfortunately he got injured just coming into form. Imagine he will be a first teamer next season. But we only signed him because Moyes knew him from Man U or some shit.

Pickford has been fantastic, European football awaits when we get relegated. Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton all interested apparently.

I'd have Grayson. He did well for Leeds as well, don't know what big name would fancy the job to be honest.

Alan Judge has signed a new two year contract with us - brilliant news! Obviously we would have liked longer, but it protects us in case he doesn't return the same player he was before the injuries, and protects his interests of eventually playing in the Premier League.

Anyway, he's my favourite player, and the thought of having him, Canos, Woods and Jota in the same midfield next season is awesome. Think we're a strong DM and a striker away from being able to properly compete (hey Villa, can we have Hogan back now?)

After months of silence the club have finally had confirmation that "an application for a proposed change of control at the club has been conditionally approved [by the EFL].

The Club will now spend the coming weeks working diligently with the EFL, our current shareholders and both Mr Yongge Dai and Miss Xui Li Dai to ensure the application meets those specific conditions and all the relevant EFL regulations."

These are two members of the failed consortium to buy Hull last year, but it seems like we're almost there.

Interesting article by our local rag - minutes played by age of squad members.

Basically, Barnsley and us lead the way in terms of playing youth (under 23), Newcastle, Fulham and Huddersfield for those roughly at their peak (24-30) and Brighton for veterans (31+)

Definitely shows a lot of clubs doing well with experienced players, but hopefully a good future for Barnsley and ourselves

We must be close. Our starting 11 is really young this year

We have a very young squad too, just a couple of senior players who are regulars (McCleary 29, McShane 31, Kermorgant & Al-Habsi 35) who bump up our average quite a bit.

Realistically our defence & midfield next season could all be 24 and under.
