Disappointed how little respect is shown to winning teams these days. Maybe it's always been that way. I've read through a lot of reports on Wolves, Leeds, Cardiff results and after nearly every win, opposition managers and reporters on "opposition" newspapers have downplayed the performance of the winning team and emphasised the strengths of their losing team. No one seems to say "they were the better team" (A big exception seems to be Slutsky at Hull who says it as it is) or "they outplayed us".

We were guilty of this against both Cardiff and Bristol City. In both cases, a well-executed strategy paid off and we were left to blame the ref in both cases for poor decisions.

It would seem that every single one of our goals this season was "against the run of play", was the result of a "silly error". Seems on this standard, we are doomed to relegation.

To be fair Millwall and Brentford's managers both praised us. In respect of not getting the praise you deserve, that award goes to when you knock a Premier League side out of the cup. When we beat Liverpool last season, it was all about how bad Liverpool were, hardly anything about how well we played.

I see we are 10/11 to be promoted, and Leeds are 2/1. Ridiculously short odds when you see that Ipswich...two points behind the leaders and a game in hand...are 28/1.

We've played all three, and of them, Wolves were by far the best against us.

Wolves are the best side we've faced this season as well, closely followed by Millwall. We were lucky to get anything out of either of those games.

Kind of you to say, although not really fishing (promise!)
I just watched the entire Millwall game again. I think Millwall will be the surprise team of this season. No one really special in the team, but they are very disciplined.

We need a forward and we'll be set, missing too many chances so far.

Also Saville and Wallace have both been outstanding, so thanks for that!

Surprised you rated Millwall Herts. They came to Wolves purely to defend all game and hope for a draw by hitting us on the counter. I rated their goalkeeper Archer, but aside that they offered nothing.

Nothing different to them to what a bunch of other teams will do coming to Molineux will do this season.

I think you were over critical of yourselves when you played us, Mark also was very complimentary of us but I thought we got hammered.

Hopefully you take your chances against Rovers later.

I don't mean this in a way to big ourselves up at all, but if you play like you did against us I think you would beat 75% of the teams in this league. You nullified most of our attacks and caused a lot of problems for our defence. I know we missed a couple of sitters but at the end of the game we were lucky to get a point.

If we keep our strong home form going a little longer then I can see a few clubs doing the same at Ashton Gate.

Not so much the big name clubs or the teams in the top 3-4, but most others.

Most already do. Derby and Millwall sat behind the ball and played on the break, Derby even nicked a goal and Carson began timewasting. Villa again were comfortable playing without the ball and didn't really come onto us, and as for Barnsley they were just shite really and came without any sort of gameplan.

Is there a worse League news website than www.footballleagueworld.co.uk?

Absolutely staggering levels of pop up adverts, and truly, truly shit reporting. I mean awful. Every so often I dont see the URL and click on something from Google News and before I know it...absolute fucking gash. How on earth do they get advertisers to fund it. Just wank.

On the other hand, the "mainstream" Birmingham Mail is getting as bad with unbelievably random ads just blasting out at you.

In both cases, the sheer intrusiveness of the advertising makes it impossible to read the content. In the case of the BM, it is sometimes worth reading... <sigh>....

Just went back (accidentally) to the very first page (i.e. page 31) of this forum. Interesting that there's absolutely no-one from that era seems to be around today...

Whatever happened to Daniel Creedon, Joe Glayshier, Aden-Jay Wood? More importantly, do we give a toss? (But weird that no-one now was there then, and no-one then is around today....)

We were keeping the league one sub forum busy :hypo:

Japp Stam has come out and had a pop at the Reading fans which didn't go down well it seems.

How long will he last?

No different to his comments this time last year, so it's not really any big deal, for now.

Has to be careful though, comments like that are what helped Brendan Rodgers and Nigel Adkins get sacked more quickly than they probably should have.

Officially the best defence in the Football league after 9 games with only 3 conceded.

Don't think any Preston fan would have predicted that during pre season.

Were you ever close to signing him? I can't believe the rumours this Summer were anything substantial.

He really needs to learn to not let fans reactions effect him and lambaste them in post game interviews. That's the third time he's gone on a rant about fans - twice to our fans, and once to your fans at Elland Road. Really shows his inexperience in management.

He should be at no risk of being sacked here, for now. Ultimately he is "failing" this season due to the failures from those higher up in not bringing in the players we needed. No shock that we cannot score when we've only started a striker in 2 out of 8 league games this season!

The style of play is still in development, and testing how effective it can be at this level. I would say we have to be at least performing well (even if the results do not match) by the end of the Season for him to have a long-term future here. It is starting to look like we are trying to play a Premierleague style of football with Championship quality players.. so it isn't working.

There were rumours he turned us down but no idea how true. No one had a clue throughout the whole process who we were gonna get tbh though.

Kudos to Cardiff, Birmingham and Derby who have so far agreed to charge our fans £20 for the away games, to match the "twenty's plenty" that we charge all opposition fans.

Leeds still continuing to charge us £40...

Tied Conor Coady and Matt Doherty each down to 4 year contracts.

The legend that is Kevin Doyle (to Reading fans and ourselves at least) has retired. A career to be proud of.
