I was getting annoyed at Ed but an end to letting fees would be very welcome. Not that I would ever vote for him.

Nigel Farage is essentially Vince McMahon.

I wish it was like Wrestling and we could have random debate invaders, suddenly Cameron's theme tune (elgar or something posh like that) blasts on and he runs on with a steel chair.

Really? Nige was the only one to get a clap and cheer after the opening statements.
He himself commented on it.

Dimbleby's explanation makes sense, tbf. I suspect the audience is made up of supporters of the parties on stage. So 4/5 leftist or centre-leftist.

So because Nige comments on it, it must be true. It's a coping strategy for him to avoid the fact most people find him an odious cretin.

Oh FFS. How I despair when I hear these stupid points about immigration.

They pay more in tax than they claim in benefits, ergo they're good for the economy. *sigh* Little bit more complicated than that.

This is my first vote and I don't follow politics much at all.

However I quite like Milliband in the way he comes across (over than the accent), what am I missing that is so bad about him? Is it because of Labours poor past few governments? Genuinely curious.

Eh? I commented on it before he did because it was obvious from the reactions to the particular points being made. Biggest claps so far have been for the anti-austerity, traditional socialist rhetoric.

Partly people becoming fed up with the last Labour Government being practically indistinguishable from Tories, but mainly (and very unfairly) because he looks a bit weird and is kind of geeky.

I replied to your comment saying it wasn't as left wing as you indicated and you replied saying that Nige had mentioned it, which I'm not sure strengthens your argument.

Anyway, back to the real debate.

My problem is with Labour rather than him. I don't see a huge difference between them and they conservatives unfortunately.

What does the Tory attack on Miliband have to do with Trident?

Sturgeon seems to be being quite soft to Miliband so far, I was expecting an all out attack.

Greens rightly bringing up Saudi Arabia's abuses, but would they dare mention Israel?

These topics have all been done to death over recent weeks haven't they?

It's the Greens. I think they probably would. They don't seem to give a fuck. They were talking about given the Falklands away a while back.

I only turned on 20 minutes ago, but my first thought was that Sturgeon seems to be being nice to Ed.

I'm not really too surprised. I think they both know their best chance in the election is some sort of arrangement between the two parties. I don't suppose she wants to make too much of an enemy out of a possible future ally.

Just sounded like nerves to me. She always sounds nervous. It's impressive, really. Quite gutsy to get up and speak when it's obviously not your natural forte.
She's certainly no public speaker and it must take a lot to do a debate like this. She was nervous but I did think she was truly trying to hold back anger and emotion about the immigration issue. Could have been just nerves but I thought it was more.

I know I'm as biased as they come but Ed really has wiped the floor with Nigel so far. He's countered everything he's said.

Nigel really isn't coming across well here.

No one keen on the Tories. What did Farage say? I missed it.
