The County Ground holds such fond memories me :err: and it's localish so I can't resist another visit.

Not too bothered about formation just wondering where to drink pre game.

I haven't been in ages because I'm the world's worst fan, but the Merlin is where a lot of the away fans drink. It's a mixed pub and *I think* the closest to the ground. If you like real ale, the Glue Pot is a fine old pub and where my and father and I go.

If you go to the Merlin you may bump into Indian Dan

Thanks.

Will let my guests (yeah I said it's guests) to this League 2 heavyweight clash decide.

Indian Dan should be very easy to spot but I'm looking for more/some positivity this upcoming Easter weekend.

Wrexham impressed me the most in terms of L2 sides other than MK but that was in the FA Cup game, although that game was not in conditions good enough to play football, they adapted better than us. In the league game if we weren’t so toothless we have won it by half time, they did improve in the second to be fair.

Hope that materialises this Friday but in the 2 games we’ve had with Wrexham I’ve been impressed. MK overall I’d say better than them this season based on what I’ve seen against us but Wrexham defensively excellent in the league game and they played some very good football on that swamp of a pitch in our FA cup game run them a close 2nd imo.

One things for certain, If Ollie P plays he’s going to score

There is a mad stat going round that we haven't lost a league game this season when Ollie has started (19 games) but we've lost 9 of the 20 when he hasn't. It's a pity he's found it hard to keep fit this season.

Given his record when he was at Mansfield I'm sure he'd love to score. Hopefully he plays.

Palmer has to start, he won't score but he is quite clearly the best partner for Mullin and gets the best from him. Fletcher coming off the bench is great option though.

I do think it'll be a draw and both teams relatively happy with that. If MK Dons could fuck off a bit as well, everyone would be happy.

Believe me you’ll have never seen celebrations like it if he does get on the scoresheet. Fingers crossed if he does it’s a conciliation goal to make it 1-4 like Andy Cook the other week.

All the strikers we let go because they’re shite here have scored against us so far, even fucking Lee Angol

Sources say this is the first time Barrow and Grimsby have played each other on a day other than a Tuesday since a couple of Anglo-Saxons had a scrap in 326AD.
I think it was Grim and his Dane raiding party wasn’t it? And they got food poisoning from that hostelry run by that ginger haired Celtic woman in Ulverston after demanding the finest ales known to humanity, and cake…

I'd be happy enough with a point, so long as MK fuck off as well. I'd be well over the moon with a lovely 3 points in the bag, and a similar performance in the cup to boot. Cannon has been playing exceptionally well over the past 2 or 3 months. Yes he was at fault for the Tranmere goal the last home game, but aside from that, class.

Be interesting to see McClean back in the side, with the returning TOC in midfield and hopefully Lee turning up again, where he has been MIA since god knows when before Xmas.

Parkinson loves putting O'Connor at the back in big games but with Evans still out we need him in midfield really.

Angol is an atrocious footballer, can’t believe he’s had more than 1 club at this level. Thankfully out on loan at Woking now to try and get them back on course for relegation (unsuccessfully as injured after about 2 minutes there).

I can imagine Clough making a few changes for this, if we recall Stockport away he made some surprising changes including dropping DKD.

I think if fit Clarke starts, he is a big reason why Stockport fans keep calling us a bunch of big meanies, hopefully Wrexham fans are a bit sterner!

I think Williams being injured is hurting us currently, think he is definitely a starter above Bowery Friday if he is fit.

County Ground Hotel is the closest but wouldn't recommend for away fans and would advise avoiding The Tap and Barrel on Manchester Road although I haven't been in there for ages.

He dropped DKD, Akins, Reed and Quinn for that one I think. IIRC Martin Shaw said at the time he was told by Clough it was just a rotation job as we pretty much played the same 11 for the other 3 games over Christmas. Worked mind.

He can’t drop any of them for this one IMO, DKD is our main goal threat, Akins hold up play is important, he came on early for Oates at Stockport and gave us an outlet up top. Also Reed been class and now the experiment of Brunt in midfield has been well and truly shelved that position firmly belongs to Reed. Quinn maybe if Clarke and Maris are too come in and bring him on later on.

Defence will be interesting as Cargill likely out, Hewitt back on the bench for the first time since April last weekend but maybe this weekend too soon. CJ still injured as far as I know so Bowery and Macca full backs?

Hoping for another NC masterclass here but I feel this will be our toughest challenge of the season on the road.

Mixed bag with MK Dons against us.

They outclassed us at their place and beat us 4-0, and then they enjoyed about 70% possession at Valley Parade without ever looking like scoring and we beat them 4-0.

Yeah I meant closest that would be safe for our good friend from Nottingham! Would never recommend the CGH to an away fan! The Tap doesn't scream 'welcoming' to me either, even as a home fan!

Doncaster at home should be winnable but I remember the new orifice they opened for us up there. Ironside is a forward I like and he completely dominated Williams and Conroy in that game.

Looking at our run in (Mansfield and Wrexham to play) this is one of the games we need to win to have any hope of making the play offs. Still can't see it happening myself but I'd like to be wrong.

Casey
Who would have thought this would be a top of the form table clash? Not expecting much but a win or draw gets us to the magic 50 point barrier

I’m worried about the full backs if I’m being honest, we look weak in those positions with injuries at the minute, Cargill if not fit is a massive loss.

For me Quinn must absolutely play, pretty much every time we looked a threat against Colchester it was him who made it happen.

I can see him making some changes but I agree DKD, Reed, Akins, and Quinn too for me are undroppable for Friday game. If anyone comes in it’s Clarke/Maris I reckon.

I know a few wrexham fans have mentioned it on here, but a class act by them for the donation and it’s massively appreciated by all at Mansfield.

They've done a lot of things like that, giving to good causes. We're so lucky to have them.

Can't believe how far the fella has walked, and it's been crappy weather all week. He'll get a great reception when he arrives.

Yeah it’s good stuff.

I’ll give the Radfords props too, it’s not publicised much but they have a foundation that gives to local charities and community assets - they still get a lot of stick from other club fan bases despite being great owners.

Conker you shouldn't worry want fans of other clubs say about your club or owners. Seriously what do they know?

It's fantastic and a big relief having great owners look after your beloved club.
