It's always nice to see newly promoted teams get all giddy and excited, can't blame them after spending so long in the conference.

To be fair, they're by no means a Cheltenham though. That's true levels of naivety right there.

Not that they'll score anyway, but hope they don't do an invasion at Mansfield, our heavy handled police will have the tasers, Battons, horses, helicopters, razor wires.

I do wonder how 2300 Grimsby fans can go to Notts and it ko at 3, yet 1600 will be at Mansfield and it kicks off at 12,15.

Useless police

It's because after going 1 up it seemed a certainty we would win as our defence is so watertight we hardly ever concede......... :conf:

What happened to my post responding to the obsessed Orient fan? Jesus, please don't tell me that was deleted by a mod?! Way too heavy handed, if so.

Sure the pitch invasion wouldn't of happened if Notts Police had moved the game to a 12.15KO

You'll be amazed to know it was E10rifle  and it was some shit slagging off "all 4 Lincolnshire teams" fans and then went off on a tangent about a big Church on a hill, just the usual monotonous rubbish he usually spouts.
I typed out a reply too then thought fuck it he's not worth replying to.

Oh, so it was The Eton Rifle  I actually find him amusing.
Sometimes he can be but he has a real chip on his shoulder bordering on an obsession with GTFC for some reason. :dk:

Oh chaps, I was merely speculating that the general unhinged fighty tendencies of the residents of the fine county of Lincolnshire might be due to their living in a 2,500-mile square cabbage field with a big church on top of a hill in the middle of it.

Now I might have been doing Lincolnshire a disservice with that - entirely accurate - description (I failed to mention that the grim industrial skyline of Scunthorpe is thankfully permanently obscured by a helpful haze of noxious smog, for example) but considering it's the county that spawned Margaret Thatcher, I'm not particularly of a mind to be more fulsome in my praise.

I think you have a point actually, because all the capital's clubs are right honourable purveyors of exemplary behaviour. Those mild mannered gentlemen followers of Millwall, West Ham and Chelsea are a true example of how to travel the land and support your team without getting into bother. It must be to do with being in more rural locations. Scunthorpe, particularly, are always smashing up towns up and down the country.

And Margaret Thatcher of course conducted all of her ghastly dealings from her cabinet office in Grantham.

There are very few cabbages in North East Lincs - they are mostly located near Boston and Spalding. And many of the Gy fans would have been discussing the works of Tennyson with their fortified ales on the train home...

Always has been as far as I can remember and I'm in my early 50's now. I often use that abbreviation. Probably stems back to when Grimsby was the main fishing port in the UK and GY was the prefix for trawlers from here.

Why does Davies not take free kicks for you? He's probably the best striker of a dead ball in the league.

Was one right on the edge of the box that I was convinced he'd score from and Bogle just aimlessly side footed it into the wall.

Davies has taken them for us before this season (and has scored before too) but as Bogle had stuck one in the top corner for his hat-trick against Stevenage last week he must currently have been on free-kick duties. Maybe it'll pass back to Davies now.

I think because Bogle scored one against Stevenage the weekend before. Positionally, I also thought it was nailed on to be Davies stepping up. He did score one on the opening game but has missed since. I just think Bogle was feeling full of beans and didn't really give anyone else the option. Davies needs to command that situation better though, if that's the case.

Was a few years ago now but he was ridiculously good from that sort of position when he was with us. Must've got close to double figures in that season just from direct free kicks. Still weird seeing him at right back, mind, although he seems to be doing a job. Not sure he ever made a tackle whilst he was here.

What annoyed me most about that was that Bogle's against Stevenage was taken on the other side of the D/box and on his left foot (if my memory serves me correct?). Unless, they're instructed by Hurst then as well as Davies instilling his value as one of the division's better deadball specialists, Bogle needs to have a word with himself. He was having a decent game and is on a nice little mini streak but he should know the strengths of his teammates and step aside when necessary. However, it was just one of many incidents in the last 25 mins that summed up why we threw away 2 points.
