I firmly believe ketchup can make any savoury meal better. That's not to say I have it every time though.

A meat madras?

You don't need a fucking card to prove your loyalty. Your continued custom should be enough! Amirite?

This seriously fucks me off, I was discussing it with the wife only the other day. The new law regarding lazy, idiotic middle lane hoggers is a good one, but needs to be enforced more rigorously judging by the amount I still seeing doing it.

Additionally, I reckon a new law should be brought in not allowing drivers who have just passed their test to drive on motorways until they have completed a fixed set of lessons showing them how to do so properly. It will pay dividends within a few years. Given that learner drivers are rightly not allowed to drive on motorways, It's a bit stupid that the first time a person does so can theoretically be on their own five minutes after leaving the test center.

This makes no sense - people who just passed their practical test should be the most aware of motorway rules given that they've just passed their theory as well, in which the motorway rules are repeatedly incessantly. I did my theory a few weeks ago (yes, I'm a useless 25 year old), my brain is pretty much the highway code at the moment.

Trust me knowing the rules doesn't mean you're ready. Experience is everything.

Yeah, I get that, but anyone who has just done their test and doesn't know what lane they're supposed to be in must have some sort of mental defect. That was more my point.

I remember my first time I had to drive on the motorway. I'd just passed my test and my manager asked me to do a delivery to Birmingham in a Transit van which I'd never driven before in the rain. I was a fucking wreck when I got back to our branch.

Statistically motorways are the safest roads to drive on, but being able to judge time and distances at high speeds is imperative and it's for that reason I'd rather be sat next to an experienced driver than a new one on the motorway.

Surely it's far easier for new drivers to drive in a straight line down a motorway as opposed to the twists and turns of busy streets with all the traffic lights, junctions, moronic cyclists etc? inb4pedalbikeweirdosgetmad

Soon as I passed my test I drove 150 miles to Blackpool, and I were far more confident driving on motorways than trying to get my head around complicated one way systems and shit.

Isn't it more because, like Red says, new drivers generally won't have driven at near motorway speeds so will lack experience of the observation skills etc. required when going that fast? I've got my test soon and I know I'll have a pass plus/motorway lessons at least with my instructor when I eventually pass.

Surely everyone drives on dual carriageways in their driving lessons? Motorways aren't that different.

We're talking about people that have passed their practical test, right? You go up and down a dual carriageway several times when you're learning to drive. Or I did at least. That's got to be standard practice for all learners surely?
