Bit of a no lose situation for him seeing as it’ll take nothing short of a miracle to keep us up and he won’t be blamed if/when we go down, and it’s better to be in work.

yeah, that's pretty much how I see it, I'd say that's a decent appointment. Nice one.

Though Harris does risk becoming known as the lower league Big Sam if he does keep you up (a title that Ian Atkins used to hold, when he was still a manager).

It's not a bad reputation to have if you are never expecting to progress beyond the bottom two leagues. There's always going to be clubs after you to save them so more likely to have work then many others.

oh for sure, you're always going to be in work with a firefighter's reputation, but under the most stressful circumstances possible, if you only get jobs at basket case clubs.

Seems to be gathering quite a bit of pace now though since the announcement yesterday …
Well that was nice to wake up to. Defoe and Matete. Never heard of Jay Matete but it seems he is sought after and rated highly.

I have a feeling this news will cause a revolt among some of our support who had their heart dead set on Keane.

To be honest the fact we haven't appointed anyone yet is wild. I suspect the "ownership group" expected us to just rock up and beat Doncaster and Cheltenham and probably Wimbledon at this rate. It's maybe, probably, perhaps going to be Grant McCann??? Neil Lennon??? Steve Evans??? The fairytale return of Simon Grayson???

Alex Neil in the frame.

Class manager who lost his motivation here during the pandemic, if he gets that hunger back then he's levels above any of the other candidates touted for this job.

Yep, looks like they're getting Alex Neil.

We've still been paying him since we sacked him a year ago, highest paid manager in our history too, easy £15k+ a week.

Makes you wonder how much Keano was asking for!

I agree. I think Sunderland have dodged a bullet with Keano turning them down. Alex Neil could finally be what they have been looking for.

Alex Neil must have got the Sunderland job off the back of his consultancy work with Crewe :hail:

Lost for words, this has come out of nowhere and it looks like Robinson is trying to push it through. So much for him being in it for the long run and being committed to the "project"

He's either been offered money he can't turn down or something has happened off the field. Getting 100k from St. Mirren does look pretty pathetic though.

I've no idea who we'll bring in but it's got to be the right call if we want to stay here. A big win for the teams around us.

If Adams comes in I can see Morecambe getting out of it. I also have a feeling Donny may yet get out of it with Crewe, Gillingham, Fleetwood and Wimbledon going.

That really didnt take long to sort, he clearly couldnt wait to leave!
Going by his comments about it being a great chance and big opportunity you'd think he was going to Celtic or Rangers.

How big are St Mirren? Know very little about them including level of crowds etc.
One of the smaller SPL clubs .

Average gate is about 4k - the gulf between the Old Firm and rest is massive !

Like having a Man U or Liverpool in League Two almost.

Their old manager just left for Aberdeen which is a step up.

Robinson was at Motherwell who are probably a similar type of club and did well.

I mean he probably just has to be mid table and have a cup run to be a success.

Shrewsbury are making a bid for one of the spots.

I see our old boss Kenny Jackett has been put out of his misery at Leyton Orient. He's steered them to 18th and under threat of relegation to the conference. Last 11 games W0 D2 L9 scoring 2 goals. Nice job.
