Campbell's aloof nature will put people off but I think he could make a decent fist of it if he was given a decent job, not basket case ones like Macclesfield and Southend were at the time.
Do you really? I haven't seen anything from him that would have me want him anywhere near my club.

There’s more chance of me becoming the next manager of Charlton Athletic than there is Sol Campbell.

Did a decent job at Macclesfield under the circumstances, Southend was very tricky but at both club's, I think supporters accepted he did as good as he could've done. I don't think many at either side had a bad word to say about him.

Not saying he should get the Charlton job, or that I'd have him at Lincoln, but it'd be interesting to see how he faired at a Club that's run semi-competently.

I agree. I can fully understand why some fans might not want him, but he actually made a good fist of the two basket case clubs he had. Think he deserves a chance of a non-financially challenged team.

Do Charlton fans want your caretaker manager getting the job permanently? Or are you worried it is the often happens caretaker manager bounce (for want of a better phrase) and it won't last long ending up with a poor appointment?

There’s not a Charlton fan alive who doesn’t want Jackson to do well and get the job full time.

He’s a Charlton legend and has a great affinity with the fans.

As a club, most of our success has been with a Charlton man in charge. Curbishley, Powell, Bowyer etc.

Obviously it’s about results at the end of the day, but I’ve never wanted a manager to be successful as much as I do Jackson.

I'm always concerned when a legend (as a player) becomes manager as it very rarely goes well and in some cases can affect the good memories of them.

I’d normally agree but it’s usually the complete opposite with us.

Same here, our two most successful managers were former players.

On a random note, Martinez was at the game Saturday. It never fails to amaze me how one of our own now manages De Bruyne, Hazard and co.

Probably nothing in it (although I wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t with us come the end of the season), but Evans is the bookies favourite for the Stevenage job downstairs.

Can see Moore getting the bullet soon.

6 wins in 17 is not good enough. 12 in 37 overall for him, 3 of them in the pizza cup!

Henry Winter tweeted Stevenage have requested to talk to Evans.

Any logical reason why Evans would go to Stevenage? Doesn't seem an obvious move, that's all.

EDIT - Just seen PuB's post in the FA Cup thread.

Stevenage are being taken over apparently.
Evans will do what Evans always does.
Swap players at every opportunity until the cash runs out and he gets found out.
He will then slope off to somewhere where he thinks he may get money to spend and will blame his failure on everyone and everything except himself.

happy to see him go personally.

Is the turnaround with you lot reflecting better on Jackson than it maybe should be, because of how much you were underachieving under Adkins?

Perhaps a little but the performances are a world away from what we were seeing under Adkins, we are completely transformed.

Something definitely wasn’t right under Adkins, there’s been interviews with players since who said things like “Jackson is a breath of fresh air”, “training has gone up levels since Jackson has taken over” “Jackson has come in and told us what’s expected of us”. All pretty damning on Adkins I think.

Whether he his or not we won’t sack him unless we are bottom of League 2 at Christmas next season, he will be given time to pull things around a luxury most managers don’t have

Well, it's almost Christmas and you are almost bottom of league 1.

Will that do? Just a season and a league different!!!;)

Ritchie Wellens hasn't really succeeded at any of his other clubs either. Got Oldham relegated. Got sacked from Salford after a few weeks. Was going to get Swindon relegated before he resigned.

I thought he was doing OK at Swindon but fell out with Power.
