Ritchie Wellens hasn't really succeeded at any of his other clubs either. Got Oldham relegated. Got sacked from Salford after a few weeks. Was going to get Swindon relegated before he resigned.
That wouldn’t have been his fault. Guardiola wouldn’t have kept us up with Power being determined to get us relegated.

Well, it's almost Christmas and you are almost bottom of league 1.

Will that do? Just a season and a league different!!!;)
Never thought we would but the players turned against him, you could see they weren’t playing for him. It will be interesting to see how many of the walking wounded suddenly feel better and those frozen out get given another chance. January is massive, who replaces him and if the board back the new man with the funding that’s desperately needed, even then I’m unsure if we can stay up.

The Dickov sacking shows that they are willing to sack when things are going very very bad, if only far too late. This is the case for the Wellens removal as well I fear.

Paul Clement is available as well if Ipswich want to appoint another manager whose given name is Paul.

From the outside looking in it seems a strange call. I can only guess Ipswich have done it now as they already have someone lined up to take over. Otherwise they’ve let Cook pretty much change up the whole squad and now back at square one.

They don't have anybody lined up to take over.

“At this moment, there is no one lined up to replace Paul. There will be an extensive search to find the best replacement for the club. I will communicate more to the media and our supporters on Monday.”

Odds on their owners currently being on the web googling "ex Wigan managers named Paul".

Only other ex-Wigan manager named Paul is Paul Jewell, who already managed Ipswich Town as well.

Across two seasons, he’s had almost a full season.

We weren’t overly far from the play offs when he came in, but we were falling away from a brilliant start and he straight away called the players not good enough/unfit. He’d shake the hands of everyone of the opposing teams hands as they left pitch at the tunnel, ignoring our players as they walked passed. As a result, it was clear they wouldn’t play for him and we didn’t make the play offs.

He said he would need a transfer window and pre season and he’s had that, with plenty of backing.

After all this, he’s got 13 wins from 44 league games. (7 are this season, and 5 of those are teams in the bottom 7).

He called the fans drama queens in the week I believe.

I wonder if he was told before the game as he didn’t do his normal ‘run out the tunnel clapping’ entrance before the team today

Daniel Farke!!!!!!! I doubt if that would godown too well. Deliah's cast offs. :gr:

Although he's obviously a decent enough championship manager.

Somebody on Reddit said that Ipswich "spent 3 years raiding League Two to win League One". I don't know how true this statement is.

Fuck. I'm stunned, whether it's the right decision or not I am worried, I don't see many talented mangers we can attract out of work right now. Someone cheer me up and name drop for me somebody not listed in above posts? None of them excite me.

I wouldn't be surprised if we try and buy someone who's well above the L1 paygrade... but I'm struggling to think of even who that would be. If we end up with Hughton, Adkins or Burley I'll be gutted. Logic clearly states we can't afford Lampart but I really don't want him either.

I wouldn't trust Ipswich to not announce Cole Skuse and Chambo being relieved from their Col U contracts to manage us. If that happens, I'm out.

Well don't come in for Manning please. You really don't want him. Honest.

Right decision. Had the players, had the talk, was backed and got the club but literally didn’t have any tactical ability. All the games we’ve won have been because of having good players rather than tactics. Came across as a poor manager for me, nice bloke mind you. What next? no idea. Whoever it is has a bloody good squad of players to work with and plenty of games to get us up the table. Glad everything acted rather than let it drift. First home game for the new man will be in front of a full house. Please no more Paul’s

Steve Evans seems unhappy...

Apparently Gamechanger wanted Michael Appelton as first choice post ME era.

Please, please, no.

I fear a big "marquee" manager signing on big wages who has no experience in the EFL. Praying I'm wrong.

Doesn't Michael Appleton have a lot of experience in the EFL? Managed Blackpool for an year, Oxford United for 3 years and is currently managing Lincoln City.
