Looking at his past record, he generally gets it right eventually. The only doubt would have been whether or not it was actually Leam Richardson who was the real talent?
I think that is a huge doubt, as Ipswich had something similar with Lambert who previously succeeded at other clubs (Norwich, Colchester) but had Culverhouse as assistant, and Lambert never succeeded anywhere (Aston Villa, Blackburn, Stoke, and Ipswich) after Culverhouse left. And seeing that Wigan is second in the table after battling relegation last season, it strongly suggests that Richardson was to Cook what Culverhouse was to Lambert.

It's commonplace isn't it. Brian Clough wasn't as successful without Peter Taylor for example.

Ryan Lowe 1/4 on Sky Bet for the PNE job. First bad run Plymouth have gone on this season and he's legged it. Shithouse move that if he does go, even if it is closer to home.

I actually thought he might be in with a shout for the Ipswich job.

Obviously i'd take him but betting odds usually mean jackshit.

The local rag says we'll have someone in by Saturday and he's currently in employment, so people probably making assumptions.

Reliable reporter says we'll approach the manager tomorrow and we're confident of getting him.

1/4 though, they don’t normally get it that wrong.

Must be something in it.

Yeah, maybe right.

He's definitely the type of manager i'd like.

Are there really that many people betting in the market though? Only reflects where the money has gone, admittedly they might know something, but it wouldn’t take much to change the odds for anyone else at this level.

I can’t remember a manager that was ever 1/4 for the Wigan job who didn’t end up getting it. They’ll have had a tip off no doubt. He’d suit a club like PNE well I reckon based on how he’s done at Plymouth.

Sacking McAvoy seems really harsh from a neutral perspective. You are 9 points clear from the drop. What are your expectations?

It’s a Fair point, I just think 1/4 this early on, there must be something in it.

Of course, it’s never definite but would be surprised if he’s not at least their number one target.

It's a full L1 and L2 match day tomorrow, so you'd have to be a bit of a tit to approach an employed manager on a match day.

Our director is Peter Ridsdale...

That said, I wouldn't really give a shit, it'd be good to have a new guy in the dug out by Saturday.

That might be the reason why they've gone on the bad run, Lowe's mind might not be at the club anymore. Same thing happened to Hartlepool earlier this season before Challinor went to Stockport.

Very reliably informed Lowe will be announced as Preston boss today. His Assistant Schuey to take over as temporary manager.

He's been with Lowe for a while hasn't he, so it'll be interesting to see whether he follows him again? Or will he take a look at how Leam Richardson has done since making the jump from long-time assistant to manager and fancy a crack at it himself?

We've got room for a few more staff to be fair, so probably just depends on Schumacher, if he fancies giving it a go.

Perhaps an agreement for them to stay on and take care of the next couple of games until a replacement has been found?

There have been a few cases where a manager has been appointed and some of his staff have followed a while later.

You'd have to question the managerial appointment process for Preston to go from Ainsworth (too expensive - when we sniffed around him he wanted all 6(?) members of his football backroom staff to follow) to Lowe.

If it does turn out to be Lowe, as seems likely, if feels like he's moved on whilst his stock is at the highest it's ever been given how well Plymouth have done so far this season. No too different to Cowley heading to Huddersfield from us. Location is probably a massive factor as well.

Not sure about the Ainsworth links, O'Rourke is poor when it comes to PNE info, seen some sources say that a move for Lowe has been in the works for a month.

That said, the recruitment process at PNE being a lottery wouldn't be something particularly new.

rather depends on whether Schuey wants to be a manager.

I have a suspicion this has been going on for a few weeks. What may be quite significant is a club podcast last week. It was all about Schuey, where he came from, why he and has wife have spent a year on a project house down here and his ambitions and coaching style. Once we heard it my wife immediately said “there’s our next manager”. We knew, at the time, nothing about Lowe going but it came across in such a way. It may not have been a coincidence.

I know now listening to our podcast last week that Schuey has only been coaching four years and that he is 37. He is clearly ambitious. and confident in his abilities. Not sure he is totally stuck to Lowe. Would not surprise me if the gentleman’s agreement is “you give it a go, if it does not work give me a call Schuey”.
