Robinson finally gone from Oxford. That should mean they’ll turn things round pretty sharpish now.

I wouldn’t be so sure.

In the interim we have Craig Short, Wayne Brown and Leon Blackmore-Such. I’d argue we’ve gone from a Manager who was working against the team to effectively having a voiceless, enthusiastic-less trio who will do little to inspire a squad devoid of any confidence. It’s still bleak but today was a huge step which is near 12 months overdue.

We are still doomed unless we appointment someone capable sharpish, or sides beneath continue to lose…

Cowley will fancy the Oxford job.

Works from a location point of view, a decent size L1 Club without being one of the big hitters but a budget that's a decent one for this level.

I think Oxford are fortunate in that none of the real relegation dogfight sides seem capable of digging themselves out of trouble, as the Cheltenham fans have noticed, wondering how they’re still outside the drop spots despite dire recent form.

But yeah, confidence is a huge factor in who falls to the drop.

You’d think that Oxford would want to go for someone playing a possession-based style like Liam Manning, say, but then Manning also struggled this season and you have to wonder how much of last season’s success with MKD was down to having Twine plus some quality loanees.

Will they want to go down the Cowley Road?

I'll get my coat

No way would the Cowley brothers fit the Oxford model. It will be a head coach, who plays a possession based game, can develop young talent, and quite possibly work within a structure.

Robinson had too much power and I don't think the current board will make the same mistake. New man will be very well backed financially. Fans were told on Friday, when some met the CEO at our training ground, that our budget for this season was fourth highest in League One, but Robinson didn't manage to spend it, and we ended up 6th highest, which is still a scandalous waste of money!!!

I can see him applying and annoyingly I can see him impressing Tim Williams, the likely decision maker in this process.

I tend to think the best candidate will likely come from a Prem side with a track record of performance with an under 23 side.

Sounds like you could do with Paul Tisdale.

I never wanted Robinson to go from us. He was shafted in our champioship outing. The team was a shadow of the one that got promotion (the Dele Alli team).

Sadly I think he is now a league 1 journeyman manager. Can do the job but will never get a higher oppertunity and I think he should have deserved that chance.

According to Alan Nixon looks like Grant McCann set to be the new Oxford manager. On the face of it that seems a reasonable enough appointment?

We interviewed McCann back in January before choosing Mousinho. A real sliding doors moment as no doubt Mousinho would be Oxford boss by now.

I've never been fully convinced by McCann, I think it's because he made such hard work of getting Hull promoted and his sides just seem a bit clunky and streaky.

He's had a couple of relegations as well hasn't he so seems a mixed bag. Peterborough were in real poor away form as well.

No doubt he'll take over at Peterborough when he and Ferguson both get the boot again in 18 months time.

Looks like Liam Manning is going to get the Oxford job, announcement tomorrow apparently.

Misread "Anderlecht" as "Aldershot" and was a bit surprised - only assistant?...(not least after all the rumours he was heading to be the Daggers' new manager)

I can imagine it may well work out for him there, if there's a strong team spirit working his way around him, and proper football-knowledge support from management, too.

Interesting to see whether Manning and Oxford end up a decent fit. On paper they do, but the issues there seemed deeper than Robinson (a lot of talk around recruitment being poor?), so if that doesn't get sorted then I can't see Manning doing much better than when he was at MK?

Recruitment was poor because Robinson ignored the recruitment team last summer and signed his own players. It was an absolute disaster, going away from our model that had been so successful (and profitable) for the last four or five years, and leading to the head of recruitment leaving at the end of January as he was pissed off with not being listened to.

Robinson has been an absolute car crash of a man this last year, with off the field personal problems, fall outs with players, ignoring any and all advice offered to him, and completely losing the fan base. This happened during our ownership hiatus and has probably cost us this season, and next season too. We now have a proper well funded structure being re-assembled (including recruitment) so I would think this will suit Liam Manning and should be a good fit.

But, fuck me Robinson has left a lot of mess to be cleared up behind him, and should have gone last summer.

Big Dunc coming under pressure?

Love to be a fly on the wall if/when Vince tells him..

Seriously it didn’t seem the sort of profile you’ve been going for but even so at this stage of the season it seems just rather pointless.

I agree it would be pointless.

My guess is this is being leaked by an unhappy player or someone close to him, we’ve actually had quite a few leaks on transfer targets this season as well which isn’t great.
