Im happy to see what he can do in the summer but not very enthused by the Rotherham fans summary of his signings there!
Its hard to attract players to Bristol without increasing wages as I believe we are the 2nd most expensive City to live in.
Apparently some of our northern based players have been training in the north west this season - hardly ideal but I imagine something Barton arranged. No wonder they look like strangers on the pitch.

Prior to Taylor coming Scott had produced some decent players with Paul Warne having the final say.

Apparently Scott produced a list of targets but Taylor wanted to go for experienced Championship players rather than raiding the lower divisions (though he did want Nombe).

So he gave contracts to Hall, Morrison, and Peltier, who are all good players but the wrong side of 30 and all were constantly injured at their previous clubs. He also gave Shane Ferguson another year even though he missed a load of games the previous season.

Guess what they all managed to miss large parts of the season.
That's why Miller's fans were not convinced that Taylor knew what he was doing, but then again maybe he was just unlucky?

Ultimately, the chairman was asked if we had a plan going forward in terms of building a new stand or generating commercial income. Something that wasn't just, hope we sell a player for a few 100k every season to see us into the black. The response was, how do I put it...... underwhelming. Clarke has said he's had a meeting with the board and intends to have more because at the moment, off the pitch we're not meeting the standards he expects of a football club. The training ground is not fit for purpose and he's unsure how the future will be financed.

One thing with DC if you ask him an honest question he will give you an honest answer. While with us he repeatedly took shots at the pitch and initially the medical staff and prior recruitment. Could make an argument he wasn’t long for us at the end of last January Carol Shanahan had done a interview saying how she was pleased with the transfer window and the following press conference he pretty much just called bullshit on it. Whether they want him to stay or not you’ll know more than me but if they do the Cheltenham board would do well not to think he’d be bluffing.

The board know they need to do all they can to keep him. At the moment, he's the only thing they've got right since Mickey Duff went two years ago (that's a bit harsh on the Wade appointment given last season, but the point stands really). If they let him go, they really will alienate a huge portion of the fanbase.

Derby, Sheff Wed and Ipswich, but if you can't live in Britsol on say £2.5k a week (£10k a month, so £6.3k after tax) then you need some help with budgeting. Most of these players won't have kids, either.

True, although if they lived elsewhere bar London they would have even more disposable income doing the same job. The saving grace is Bristol is also an ace place to live compared to other towns/cities in L1

Also, I think Cambridge and Oxford are more expensive than Bristol but this is actually quite a big issue for us and other lower league London clubs. Obviously players should be ok to get by comfortably on an average League One wage but Greenwich is such an expensive part of London that we genuinely need to offer quite a fair amount more in wages to be as attractive financially as other league one clubs, all with our ticket prices etc being on par with others in the league so we don't get much extra revenue from being in London.

Not so sure about that. Last home game went in the Forresters a local pub ( just been taken over ) and the lager was 6.30 a pint in a plastic glass. Went up the Welly and just over 6.00 a pint. Won't be drinking in either these pubs again.

One managerial position I think to watch over the coming weeks (or months) I certainly think will be ours, it looks like Wellens is planning his escape - Which isn't a big suprise to me personally, as he's been hinting since the end of January that he's not been happy with a few things.

Since last weekend's post game interview against Fleetwood, he said Matt Harrold would take the team against Shrewsbury at the weekend as a thank you for his 7 years service to the club, before he leaves to be Bournemouths new loans manager and that he would watch from the stands. Since then it is believed that he wasn't at the game on Saturday (no sign of him after the game with the rest of the squad clapping the fans) and hasn't done any interviews since - they were all done by Matt Harrold who hinted that the managerial situation "will be resolved soon."

Also it was our end of season awards last night and Wellens wasn't there - He also pulled out of a fans forum 8 weeks ago where he was the main guest and sent Paul Terry instead, he claimed he was at Oxford watching them play Northampton who were our next opponents but a few rumours were mentiond to me that he was pushing to get the Millwall job, which Neil Harris got. I myself went to this fans forum and because Wellens didn't go, it became a complete waste of time, he sent Paul Terry instead who couldn't get out quick enough.

After we beat Carlisle 3-2 at the beginning of February, Wellens complained about our January business in the post game insterview - which the club took down, only to put it back up again.

He wanted to sign Charlie Kelman but accused those above him of dithering to get the deal done and Kelman (who we had on loan last season) signed for Wigan instead.

We signed youngsters Khayon Edwards from Arsenal and Dan Adu-Adjei from Bournemouth (both strikers) instead and Wellens said in the same interview he basically didn't want them as they were first time loans and that they don't always work in League One, he wanted an experienced striker. Adu-Adjei scored on Saturday, but overall both haven't been good enough for us in the long run, both very raw players still finding their feet in the game.

He also complained in the same interview that he was unhappy that loan centre half Ed Turns was allowed to return back to Brighton (to then be sent on loan to Crewe) and that no replacement was signed at centre half, leaving us with only 3. A week later Dan Happe does his hamstring away at Barnsley - leaving us with only Omar Beckles and Brandon Cooper for basically 2 months, both suffered dips in form and we just about managed to cope until Jack Simpson was signed and his 6 game ban was completed. Wellens mentioned a few more times that this is what happens when you don't have any cover or competition for places.

After the said interview he said in his next interview he probably went too far with his words - he basically got a slap on the wrist it seems from those above him about what he said - So this point we've reached now IMO has been coming for the last 3 months.

I will be suprised if he is still here come July when pre season starts.

Would be a massive loss as he has done an excellent job for you, playing some really good football also. Been a little surprised there has not been more interest in him this season.

I guess either way you just want it resolving ASAP so that if its a new manger needed, you can get him in quickly and maximize recruitment time.

I forgot to mention that Wellens has been offered a new contract by the club, but hasn't signed it yet - he currently has one more year left on it.

He can certainly coach higher, he isn't afraid to make big decisions on moving players on if they don't fit what he wants - also he's made quite a few of our players better in the two years he's been here and the players have always seemed to like working with him, not once have I ever looked at us under him and thought "he's lost them" or "they're not playing for him." Even though he can really, REALLY over micro manage things on the touchline when he gets annoyed, I sit more or less next to our dugouts and he is always on at players!

Be a shame for Orient if he left. Get the impression he can be quite fiery and confrontational though.

This is probably his downfall, alot of owners will look at the way he can be sometimes and think he's probably a difficult character to work with if he doesn't get his way. The fact he openly called out our board and Martin Ling after a 3-2 home win about not getting players he wanted would've left a red cross next to him, because he has alot of credit in the bank with us it did kind of get glossed over.

At Salford he's always openly said that the support levels for managers aren't there, which was partly down to why he left, they don't have the backroom experience established league sides do to support their managers with the day to day stuff and that with us a big part of the reason he's done well with us is the structure we have in place. I think he'd do well at a bigger club with the right staff behind him for sure.

He has been tipped for the Barnsley job and I have no doubt he's probably pushing for it. But he'll have to wait to see which league Barnsley are in next year. They sacked Collins the other week for being 5th and ending the season on a bad run - they'd do the same thing to him in 12 months too if he was to go there, so he'll need to understand that if he performed poorly there they'd have no issues sacking him too, whereas sticking with us for another year he'd be given alot more time.
