what was the score mate? can't quite remember...

3-0 to Crewe. Inman scored twice and Leitch-Smith got one. Here's a match report:

Crewe produced a wonderful away display to take a three-goal advantage into the second leg of their Johnstone's Paint Trophy northern final against Coventry.

Stephen Elliott twice forced Alex keeper Steve Phillips into smart stops as the hosts looked likely to score.

The Alex took a 52nd minute lead when Brad Inman struck from inside the box.

Inman then scored a superb second late on when he ran at the defence to fire into the bottom corner before AJ Leitch-Smith curled in the third.

Crewe soaked up a great deal of pressure from the Sky Blues, but will now take a large lead into the home second leg in a fortnight's time with a great chance of reaching the Wembley final on 7 April.

Coventry, handicapped by the loss of keeper Joe Murphy at half-time with a hamstring injury, were unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.

They came close on a number of occasions in the second half as Elliott was again denied by Phillips and Carl Baker struck the post from the edge of the area.

But they could not find the net in front of a near-capacity crowd of 31,054, the highest attendance in the competition outside the final - and the second highest in the Sky Blues' eight seasons at the Ricoh Arena.

Was it Coventry that had those fans ring up their local radio and complained about their loss even though they scored two goals in injury time and drew 2-2? Don't think it was in the JPT but I'm sure it was around about the time of the Cov-Crewe game.

We have sold our initial 20k allocation out today apparently. A decent effort with a week to go until they are on general release.

From Wembley we get 45%, Bristol get 45% and the other 10% goes somewhere else I can't remember.

So the more fan's Bristol bring, the more money we get to waste on Hereford rejects next season :D

FWIW, I enjoyed our jpt final against chesterfield, even though we lost and didn't play well it's an enjoyable day out because at the end of the day it really makes very little difference if you win or lose. Have a few beers, mix with the opposition, try and create and atmosphere (you won't be able to) and get home safely.

This is after expenses have been deducted though, hiring Wembley won't be cheap, neither will the stewarding etc.

I believe you can look it up on our website, should be fairly easy to navigate.

Fair play to you - enjoy the day :)

I've just had some secret information given to me by a Bristol traitor. When the horde's of farmers sit in the fancy Wembley pitch and talk about how nice the Wembley pitch would be to grow cabbage out of, they will sign this just before kick off.
