Nearly 30k sold now by City. Good effort for a JPT final IMO!

Should get a few more thousand too with 3 weeks left to the game.

I agree but where are all these people for the rest of the season no way would we take anywhere near that many for a jpt final yet we get a lot better crowds than you year after year. 2 ways to look at it its a cracking turnout but It just goes to show you have a hell of a lot of so called fans that dont go throughout the year

It shows that if we had sustained success then we'd sell out. Sadly we haven't had enough of it during our history!

There's also the fact that some of those cant make most games, for various reasons.

looking like its going to be a good 60,000 plus..............its a great experience with them numbers. I have been very fortunate to see us twice at Wembley with 76,000 fans (well we were lucky Southampton and Birmingham took 50,000)

Not surprised to see Walsall have taken 25,000 if I were a Villa fan or Birmingham fan right now I think if I had the money I'd nipped along for an enjoyable day out during a terrible season. plus walsall seem to have that feeling of a club I can see in that area having as their 2nd team.

We got 31k two or three seasons ago against Chesterfield in the final and then struggle to get 8k in the top two of L1

Possibly so what would you class as sustained success

In regards to the crowds here to normal I think the best examples are say Wigan or Swansea or Leeds etc, etc

Wigan who could not get more than 6-8,000 suddenly get 16,000 plus each season in prem, now down to 10,000 and dropping possibly back to their old levels of the 90's.

Swansea who could not 10 years ago get more than 4-6,000 now want to expand to 30,000+ as they sustain prem football, but could easily collapse crowd wise if relegated. Leeds who years ago could get 40,000 plus now cannot get more than 24,000

people latch onto top flight football or big days.

They do which makes me think who are they going to watch and are they actually genuine fans il watch us in any league do we not all go to watch our own team not other premier league teams.

Not in a 27k capacity stadium no, but we'd surely have more fans than smaller City teams like Cardiff, Swansea, Stoke, etc.

Hard to say.

I think some of it is down to them thinking football isn't worth it financially for this level but are willing to pay it to see top flight football, some probably pay it because the publicity and hype will be higher if you hit top flight, some will just latch on as you play some big clubs.

then others yep are not there to watch the home side, probably just there for the opponents.

but I think cost is biggest issue, if lower league football only cost a tenner at most I'd think most would see bigger crowds, paying £20 to £25 for L1/L2 football is a thing only for loyal fans.

Before we get too carried away here, I have heard of free tickets for the final being given to school kids on the north side of the city, which seems a bit odd. I thought they would go pretty quickly, so surprised to hear they're being given away in places.

No dig, but genuine curiosity.

Only way this would happen is if bristol city are buying them off wembley/football league and giving them away which i highly doubt

Sigh. I'm not being a 'troll' or anything like that, I have good conversations with the City fans on here. Just a family member mentioned that their kids' school had been offered/were giving away free tickets to the game. I was surprised by it too, but it'd be a weird thing to lie about.
