But why 5 specifically, and why does it only apply in the EFL.

I mean last time Fulham were in the Prem under Scott Parker they often used 6 or more in their matchday squad as loans from abroad don’t count. Seems a bit unfair.

No idea to be honest but I wouldn’t necessarily call it unfair as the rule is the same everyone in this league, Premier League clubs being allowed more than 5 doesn’t really affect any of us.

Can L1 clubs not loan from abroad then?

DC was asked this at the fans forum tonight and apparently no we can’t as loanees from abroad do count. Also mentioned we have seven players on loan so can only presume McCarron is still technically with us.

Yes, you're right. I got my info from someone on ExeWeb, but this has subsequently been ridiculed and the Wednesday night incident looks to be the cause. Sounds serious.

He is only contracted until the end of the season so probably, yes.

Plymouth GK Cooper out for the season… wow. That could seriously derail Plymouth. Best gk in the league and his stats are ridiculous this season. Wish him a speedy recovery and hopefully he comes back the same as before. Cracking gk.

I think keepers are more replaceable than outfield players. Dan Scarr could be missed more if he is out for any length of time

Completely disagree. Plymouth are where they are mainly because of Cooper. He kept them in both games against us but in top of that have you seen his stats for this season… On xg alone Plymouth would be 5th not 2nd (and 6 points clear of 3rd). He’s got the best stats in the whole EFL … well he did when I checked a few weeks ago anyway. He’ll be a huge loss.

Our keeper James Belshaw was our player of the season last year but id have rather lost him to injury than someone like Connor Taylor.

Well this season statistically Belshaw is one of the worst Gks in the league with save % of around 63%, which is pretty terrible for a decent shot stopper. Cooper’s is 78%. Plymouth have conceded the second most shots on target in the league this season yet are second. He’s conceded nearly 12 goals less than he should have based on the chances Plymouth have conceded. He’s miles clear of an average competent gk. Im
obviously not a Plymouth fan… I’m just going off the stats. If you want out of this league you need a good gk… not an avg shot stopper.

Need to add as well that if we lost Trafford and had to play Dixon we’d be nowhere near as solid. He’s the worst player we could lose this season to injury because our back up is nowhere near his level.
