I feel this TV deal could potentially effect season ticket sales and overall attendances by next season with so many kick off times changed.

Agree.

These 12.30pm kick off's doesn't allow enough time for the kids football on a Saturday morning to make it to the home games, let alone away game.

Ruins my idea of a weekend in Shrewsbury, we missed out the last two seasons too as it was midweek.
Thanks Sky you muppets

This sky deal will get re-negotiated otherwise it will kill football as a spectator sport

Thirty years of stupid o' clock hasn't killed off the Premiership, not sure it'd kill off lower league football either. Though it may undo the boom in post-Covid crowds.

Controversial, but maybe removing the 3pm blackout could be a saving grace. After all, streaming hasn't killed off attendances like plenty were convinced it would.

Easy to fill grounds when you're in the Premier League, a lot of them are filled with tourists these days anyway.
Can't see Shrewsbury v Exeter on a Thursday night being much of a pull to be honest.

I’m still pissed that 3pm becomes 530pm on the opening day. It will affect some attendances by a couple of hundred at each game I’m sure.
Stop fucking about with the times for god sake.

Just had a trawl through one or two forums which i like to do at the beginning of each season mainly newcomers to the league.
Birmingham quite rightly confident, all does not seem well at Huddersfield but on the whole nothing major just peeved they have missed out on a signing or two. Rotherham seem to know what to expect with a Evans team.

Now the teams that came up. Mansfield seem to see Clough as his dad, but he will never lace his boots but seem to think mid-table is a fore gone conclusion which i will go along with. Likewise Stockport they seem confident again with the the team and manager again top half seem most expectation. Crawley some seem doomed but others say it is only the same as last season and could get in the top half..........Now Wrexham fuck me they are deluded got two or three who come on here who post some great content but my my head has been shaking and i have had a good laugh at some of the things i have read.
Promotion to where they belong in the Championship is a Formality once they sign Two top, top forwards for this league........There first away against us has its own thread some classics on there Bolton have only sold 21k tickets because they are playing Wrexham, Wrexham will get less tickets than any team in the league at other places again the Wrexham factor........The best one was when they was discussing Owners wealth, they could not believe the Wycombe owner had more money than there owner but it was the way they said it.....They had more money than Wrexham................Sorry your two owners will only put a percentage of their wealth into your club. Wrexham and every other clubs do not have Carte Blanche to spend everything the owners possess.

Quite a funny mini-rant there tbf!

FYI though, I'd say the vast majority of Wxm fans think our 'level' has always been around Level 3. If you've been reading Red Passion, it's got a shit load of young uns on there who've never even seen us play in the EFL, and now we've become 'rich' (compared to living hand to mouth for the last 15-20yrs)..have let the hyperbole go to their little bonces, bless 'em!

Yep, we've got a chance of going up...but no-one I know, thinks we'll realistically get top three, and most think PO's will be a big ask - but we've still got a chance, like many, many others.

Also I personally, wouldn't want to one day end up going all the way to the promised land of the Prem as our owners quite rightly say... "is possible.
I'd be quite happy just playing 'proper' teams all the time, after so many years in the wilderness!

That indeed was what i was reading........The best Thread... was to our new fans 25 pages long.. I thought wow i will have a look at this. Turns out it is about five mainly Canadian sport fans who ask some great questions like why do away fans hold up blow up sheep and why do the players not wear helmets. [dementia may eventually ban heading] but that is a discussion for another day.
No it was not a rant, like i say those Wrexham fans here seem ok, just your wider fan base seem a little deluded

If this was football manager and Stags fans was being asked for the expectations for the season the most common answer would be ‘avoid a relegation battle’

The Premier league are getting Billion pound contracts fans/att Do Not matter
League 1/2 million pound contracts Fans are their main source of income.
I stopped going away when the pandemic started..........Not a chance would i be going to London at 5.30 in the Evening with inflated trains/hotels and not a chance i will be going to games on a Monday evening now at home
I will see how many games i miss this season and have a re-think next

What revenue is each League 1 club getting from the sky deal this season? I guess it depends on whether that offsets any reduction in ticket sales.

Darragh MacAnthony said on talkSPORT it’s ‘£100k odd grand extra’

He doesn’t think it represents value.

Well if you assume £25 per ticket then you’re talking 4,000 tickets across a whole season so a few hundred per game. I have no idea how much it’ll wipe off ticket sales.

We still have over 1400 tickets available for Saturday. Given that we sold out the last half dozen home games of last season (despite being safe) this represents a backwards step.
Course, it could just be down to being August and people on holiday, and it's moot ad to whether the change in kick off time or the TV showing is more of a factor..

We have got a load of deluded fans who don't seem to pay any attention to the rest of the league. They are the ones who will be booing the first time we lose at home.

How does that stack up against lost revenue from things like ifollow? not to mention potential loss of gate receipts.

The whole thing seems like a really poor deal for Leagues one and two

Have your admission prices gone up this season at all?

For our first home game of the season on Sat vs Wycombe it's sold out. But the the club have introduced this new FanZone behind the Temp stand which is £10 on top of the normal ticket price....and there's an absolute shit load of them left for our 2nd game vs reading. Maybe something to do with the fact there are FREE fanzone's in the Turf and across the road in the Maesgwyn Hall...

I think it’ll be hard to judge until about half way through the season when we’ve had a load of games moved and fixtures on sky - hard to judge on one off games.

Not trying to defend it however - moving games from 3pm on Saturday is shameful whatever the reason. It’s sacred.

On Saturday our capacity is reduced ( and for the season ) as there is a stupid fucking camera gantry in the middle of the terrace behind the goal - reducing it by 500.
Given we have sold 4500 tickets already for Saturday and Lincoln will bring 1500, that’s 6000. Our capacity was 7000. So we have room for 1000 left.
But now there is only 500 left due to the gantry. And it’s only Thursday. So the chances are, walk ups on Saturday won’t be able to get in
So the club lose the ticket price / food / drink / programme revenue all for 100k a season to have a camera there so some prick sitting at home can watch the game live.
It’s stupid.
Our owners are talking of increasing our capacity and it may have to come sooner if we do well this season.

We too have had to move a few supporters from their seats because of this. When down like a lead balloon.

We've had the same thing, kept selling out alot of games last season including against Bolton in January in the same fixture, but don't appear to be anywhere close to selling this one out. We announce crowds on tickets sold, so will be interesting to see what the figures are.

Even Bolton haven't sold their whole allocation yet, but are close to doing so.

The 5.30 kick off IMO is the problem.

5:30 kick off is not bad when you have to travel to the game. Completely crap when you have to travel back.

I've not checked when we are playing them but as an example could I get a train from Wrexham at 10:30pm to get me to London(trains all night to Crawley/ Three Bridges) in time for work on Tuesday morning?

Doubtful but if it does get me home by 3am what state will I be in at work the next day.
