IF (and still a pretty big if at this stage) we get promoted I think Cotterill given extra spending power wouldn't be a bad thing, look at his signings this season for example, he or whoever is currently helping him have a great eye for a player.

I'd have a great eye for a player if I had that much money. *tin hat on*

It's more a case of getting Freeman for a rumoured £750k ish, Korey Smith in a swap plus some cash, Luke Ayling in a similar deal, Wilbraham on a free. There is a difference between being able to spend money, and having an eye for getting value for money which is what has happened this year while having a net spend of around ...... 0

Luke 'I won't play below the Champio...wait, you're offering me how much?' Ayling. Signing Freeman, Ayling and Wilbraham is not having an eye for a player, pretty much every league 1 manager was probably looking at them thinking 'I'd fucking love him'.

Conveniently forgetting wages again........
Not really, players to depart last summer: Stephen Pearson, Marvin Elliott, Sam Baldock, Louis Carey, Liam Fontaine, Brendan Moloney, Liam Kelly, all would have been on championship wages more than likely, the players we have signed this summer won't be so we've actually decreased our wages.

And being able to attract them over going to the championship? It won't all be due to wages offered.

Nah its not like we can offer first team football where there was a good chance of being in the championship the season after... can't be that and that Wilbraham gave an interview as that was the reason he chose us over Birmingham as well.

I'd choose Rovers over Birmingham

I'm not sure what's worse - us biting all the time, or the people that get their kicks out of baiting all the time.

It's funny that it's even an argument to be honest, it's genuinely a fact that your players earn a lot - and it doesn't even really mean anything, no-one complains about it, they just state it and dummies get spat out all over the place.

Hopefully next year we'll have one of the Middle/lower wages in the league we are in.

It's just annoying that the same people bring it up over and over and over and over (you get the point) again.

Yes they probably do earn more than some other players in this division, no they probablŷ aren't the highest earners in the division.

Must be shit being a tin pot club. Only able to offer players a tenner and half of snickers. Luckily we pay mahoooosive wages which means we will storm to the championship and leave all you peasants to see who has the biggest half.

From Cotterill: “I think our budget gets mixed up with the players we can potentially purchase. I’ve always said how lucky we are that we’ve been able to go out and purchase the players we have thanks to Steve Lansdown. However, that’s not part of our budget. What gets lost is when we sold Sam Baldock, we were able to cover for all our purchases and have some change. I don’t know why teams have to start talking about our budget…it’s not the biggest. I imagine we’ll be up there, but certainly not the biggest. I think it’s important to put the record straight sometimes when people talk about things when they don’t know the facts. It’s more fiction."

From SL: "The mission statement is there: we will develop and grow and won't spend excessive money on wages going forward."

No one said we do have the biggest, which we don't... Sheffield uniteds will be the biggest. Who cares now anyway, clearly we have one of the bigger budgets in the league and for once we are using it effectively on a smaller, but more full of quality squad.
