Smurfs tweeted the jigsaw will be complete tomorrow with a signing. Hopefully that means the return of the one player we all want back in Ryan Inniss.

Seems Torquay are set to sign someone from us too. Possibly Colin Daniel which would be a suprise as he's actually done alright for us.

According the Dutch press a young psv winger called Ryan Hiwat has turned down trials with Newcastle and Birmingham to come on trial with us.

According to a poster on a Sheffield United forum Richard Keogh was at our friendly Vs Newcastle. 30 minutes later and someone's heard a rumour we're going to sign him.

We've offered former Bristol City goalkeeper Dave Richards a contract to be our backup GK.

Stephen Kingsley and Swansea will decide on a loan switch or not in the next couple of days.

And we should have a CB in the side for the Chester friendly. I hope to god it's Alan Tate but you just know Dull Davis will sign a young CB on loan with limited experience.
I really doubt it tbh. If he signs a young CB, it will be with the intention of playing him. And whether you believe he picks Harry and/or George because he is biased towards them or because they are actually worth a place in team, I can't see either sitting on the bench over said loanee. Surest way to get himself sacked is to start getting loanees in that will block our own youngsters. Its what spelled the rapid end of Gudjon.

Those pair in the back were rudderless before Tate came in. So either way he's on a hiding to nothing, play a pair that by themselves will concede a ton of goals or block out one of the pair.

They've had a few years to prove themselves and they fail to deliver by themselves so we need someone whose waiting in the wings ready to grasp their place should they fail. That old head at the back will work wonders for the club because Davis and Ray won't play 46 games next season and neither will Tate, so it's more for depth. Tate would be outstanding on the pitch and get them to improve and would accept not playing every game I feel. We really need some depth at the CB position but I feel experience is necessary as well, the squad could do with a second old head to accompany Fox and then it will be well balanced in every way I feel.

Brown 'Noel Hunt has come back to me now, it's still ongoing and I hope we can announce something this week' :2thumb:
'Its up to Joe(Pigott) what he wants to do now'

Seems we are Noel Hunt's preference over Chicago and just the contract to be sorted now. Charlton must of accepted our second bid for Pigott just a matter of him agreeing a deal so hopeful of 2 new strikers being in by the weekend.. Was beginning to panic

In response to my original post, playershare have been approached to sign Ryan Hiwat so maybe not bollocks.

Hearing Hibs are in for Kingsley now. Ive got a feeling we will regret sending that grimshaw lad on his bike.

Same with Coulibaly if he scores bucket loads for Posh and they sell him for a couple of million.

Grimshaw I'm disappointed about. We have no LB, no guarantee to get Kingsley in and turned down the chance to take what probably would have been a cheap option which could have been developed. Now Davis looks set to have to frantically scramble around to find a first team LB that realistically might not have played any friendlies, had any pre-season fitness work(and we've seen all too often how badly lacking fitness some of these PL/Championship youth team lads are) and will only have a week or so to get used to his new team mates.

Hey, thats not a major issue, Leigh came to us and hit the ground running pretty much. I'd have just liked to see us avoid these last minute deals and get the squad sorted several weeks ago.

As for Coulibaly, maybe he goes on to be a hit for Posh. But I just don't see how we could have taken him. Budget is tight and I can't imagine he would have come that cheap. If we'd have signed the 2 defenders, spare keeper and 2/3 midfielders and still had some room, then yeah, try and get him. But we clearly don't. So I'd rather we addressed the gaps in defence. Also, Coulibaly was just bad timing. Had he been available 12 months ago, I think we'd have signed him up no question. Because at that point, we didn't Haber or LDV, Pogs was about to throw a hissy fit and head to Italy and we all knew Clayton was out the door. Coulibaly would have been a perfect fit. This time around, I just don't think we have the room or the budget. Hopefully Saunders can step up and help LDV and Haber.

Not a clue, hence the bullshit Karl Pilkington meme. As it goes, the head of playershare( basically monthly contributions from fans towards a certain players wages) has confirmed that they have been approached by the club to ask for money to be released to sign Hiwat.

Chuffed to bits! Best signing we've made this summer and our defence is now far better than last seasons!

Clucas gone officially.

Shame it was only a 10 month stay but good luck to him, should do fine at that level.

Amazing that muppet Cox couldn't fit Clucas into his god awful style, We let go for a pathetic 70k and 10months later Chesterfield go and make £1mil+ on him. How embarrassing.

The sell on clause money will be good for us, Pleased with Clucas aswell. He is a talented football but and no matter what any Mansfield fan says he was streets ahead of anything else we had.

Don't worry, Saunders won't see much of it I wouldn't have thought! I think that's nearly £3m in players sales over the last couple of years isn't it? good for a club of our size. It's a good sign of our club that we can keep getting players in for free or negligable fees and making big profit on them, and to be honest probably of Paul Cooks system that allowed players to shine. I'm scared shitless of Morsy and Darikwa leaving now though, because we don't seem to be adding anyone!

Nathan Clarke will be a good leader on the pitch. I think he'll do fine in our more attack minded team this year.

They paid 100K for him and we get 260K from this sale. Not bad when chesterfield will only see 280K because their chairmans already said they need to pay their debts off... Can see chesterfield struggling big time this year

I don't really care what Chesterfield do with the money, whether it's invested into the squad or not. Just hope we start to hold onto players in future instead of losing them for peanuts then 10 months on they're being sold for 7 figure sums.

Nice 1.3mil for Clucas, hopefully some add ons too. Now we just need to sell Morsy and Darikwa and we can complete the decimation of our squad.
