We've just signed Darius Henderson on a one year deal.

Fuck off.
He's not a bad player but you just need to get him interested.
I wonder how much you are paying him. He was reported to be on around £11k a week at Orient.

Assuming he's taken a wage cut to join you, is it really that bad a signing?
He's just a big lump really though. I just feel like he'll just be here for a wage and not really show us what he's capable of.

All of the fans are really excited about this but they'll be complaining like mad when we start playing long balls to him.

Henderson might be big but he's not a lump in the traditional sense. Great finisher and good touch. Not as good in the air as you'd expect him to be. And of course, shit attitude.

Fairs, have to question his motivation at this stage tbf. One of our local journos is a Scunny fan and he's creaming himself over your strike force, which he thinks is the best in the division. :ffs:

Don't rate that signing at all, Orient are probably glad to get him off the wage bill though.

Our strikeforce is alright but I wouldn't say it's one of the best in the division. If Robins plays Madden and Hopper up top together though it could become very good.

Fuck off.
He is a good player, but his fitness is shocking.

One of the many reasons we went down last season was because he missed 5 months of the season through injury. He was also on £10k per week here plus £3k goal bonus.

If he stays fit, you have a good signing there, he scored 8 goals for us last season in 18 games I think and he'd have got more had he actually stayed fit.

I'd have kept him in League Two, but our chairman finally realised that you can't pay someone £10k per week in League Two, who is 33 and injury prone.

A good player, but only if he stays fit.

Some of his target man play for us last season was decent.

I'd have kept him, but not for the money we was paying him.

That and his injury record meant a lot of our fans didn't take to him very well.

Make sense, we looking for a defender, he's a London lad and I see he spent time at Newport so guess Edinburgh know him quite well.
Wiki says he won Wimbledon's young player of the season award last year so looks another decent prospect if it's true.

Mixed feelings about signing Darius Henderson among the Sunny fans. He most definitely is not just a big lump come thug. He has some footballing talent, but I agree that the years are against him now. How we play him might make the difference between success and failure. His injury record may mean that he doesn't play a full 90 minutes and as a sub, I can see him making an impact in changing a game. Also, there are times when a game needs to be played out and having someone up top who can hold the ball up and fend off defenders will be advantageous. I'm hoping he can pass on some of his experience to our young lads. Having an ex Premiership player in the dressing room can be a fillip, if the attitude is right. Wait and see on Henderson me thinks.

If you've given him a sensible contract (pay as you play) then he's a good signing in my eyes. He has a decent record when he plays, and as said further up - definitely not just a lump.

We supposedly have given a trial to Paul Anderson who last played for Ipswich.

I see the initial report by BBC Radio Hull has now been countered. Anderson himself has stated that he is not on trial, just training. I can see that being the case with Ned Kelly and Nottm Forest connections. BUT having him with us means that we might have more chance of signing him than not. Difficult to see him dropping to League 1 though, but I certainly would welcome him on board if he feels like it.

If Nelson leaves we'll sign another keeper and maybe another mid field option

Always rated Clarke, wants a move back up north. You could do a lot worse.

Gutted that Oshilaja went to Gillingham. I know you are in the league above but in terms of quality there probably isn't a massive difference, and his connection with NA made me hope we would get him. Alas....

He also has a connection with Edinburgh though as he played under him at Newport.
He will probably get first team action as JED likes to play 3 centre halves and we currently have 2 with Egan and Ehmer. We also have Davies but he has been out for a while with a broken leg and the jury is out on him anyway.
I doubt if there will be pacier back line in the division though with Jackson, Garmston, Egan, Ehmer and Oshilaja.

Must remember not to be optimistic for the season.
Remember.

NA brought him to the academy at Cardiff though and gave him a chance, which I thought might help us.

He was always going to be tested at higher than league 2 this season. Its worth noting that he had several choices and signed for a club where he was guaranteed (pretty much ) a first team starter position.
Mordon - as for not much difference in quality I think you are a little deluded there.

Gillingham were at the lower end of L1. Lower L1/L2 isn't all that different.

We finished 12th, our form under JEd being very good. Also there's quite a big difference between the two divisions, we won the L2 title then had to rebuild the squad.
