Difference being, Dack has 2 and a half years left on his deal, is the highest scoring midfielder in this league (and probably the best one), up there for the most assists, is integral to a team flying high and most importantly of all - we aren't pushed to sell. If we sell for just one million then that'd be ridiculous.

He is certainly up there but yet to be proven at Championship level (sure he would do ok mind). The main fee will likely be much below what the fans want and expect but the add ons would be what may take it up over a longer period of time I.e. Sell on clause etc.

Bear in mind Bristol City could probably quadruple his wages from a player point of view its may affect him.

FWIW, our local rag are reporting that £1m is close to his asking price. Would be relatively happy with that.

I really cannot see why Scally would want to sell in January for a million quid.
It is not as if Dack's value is going to decrease between now and the summer.
The potential loss of income from not getting promoted would far outweigh any derisory bid like one million.
I do realise that it is still a big ask for us to go up this year but it will be a damn sight harder without Dack.
As has been said he is the top scoring midfielder in the league, he also has more assists than almost anyone else in the division.
He is only just 22.
He has two and a half years left on his contract.
It would take a silly bid for us to sell Dack in January, and £1 million would be nowhere near Gillingham's valuation of Dack, despite what some local hack in Bristol may think.

The prize of promotion is far greater than 1million and an equal replacement for Dack couldn't be found for that much so why would they sell? Would be daft and the kind of thing we'd do but the Gillingham chairman seems to have more sense than ours

Prepare for a City fan telling you you're wrong.

Even though you're spot on.

We have handed Bournemouth midfielder Josh Wakefield a 2 day trial in an attempt to find himself another club. Presumably a central midfielder to cover the loss of George Evans. Although I'd rather SOD wasn't taking risks on players that have managed 3 first team appearances in 10 years at Bournemouth and loan spells and Yeovil and Torquay and got a Premier League loan of some sort in.

Still, let's see what he is about.

Neat and tidy player is Wakefield from the bits I've seen in various pre seasons, and the odd sub appearance, but like many of our kids he's been on loan all other the place and needs to settle somewhere. I'd suggest a top end L1 side is slightly beyond his powers at this point, I'd say he'd be better starting off his first team career in L2 and building from there. But we'd obviously be very happy to let SoD take a look first up.

I don't dispute that Dack is worth more than £1m to Gillingham, but I wouldn't want us to go any higher for a player from L1 without a manager who wen appointed may not even be in his plans like I said in the other thread.

Leave him alone now.

Posh continually get mega fees for likes of Assombolonga,Mackail-Smith, Washington, Tomlin etc, but i say fair play to them. They are willing to pay decent fees for the top non-league players say 100k or 200k and then play them where they flourish. My team sign Jordan Hugill from Gateshead and sell him to PNE for about 80k and he now features in the Championship , yet again Vale giving assets away. Washington is a top player and huge loss for Posh in trying to get top 6.

I actually don't think he is a huge loss. He has been decent the last 3 months and has scored a few goals.

He is worth nowhere near 3 million. Actually, he isn't even worth a third of that, and if you said 3 months ago that Conor would leave for 500,000, I would have been reasonably happy.

When the others left (CMS, Boys, Assombalonga, Gayle) I was devastated. Conor is replaceable.

Ryan Colclough linked with some unnamed "Championship clubs".

Agent talk I presume, seeing as he is Byron Moore mk 2 when it comes to desperation to leave. I'm sure plenty are watching him but he's not been anywhere consistent/effective enough this season for someone to want to pay for him.

I dunno, he's scored 8 goals in a shite team with zero service. He's on course to finish with around 10-15, which is pretty good given how wank we are. Half of his goals have been scored off his own back and even in his poorer games, he still looks lively and capable of doing something. 21, still loads of potential, would probably flourish under a better manager and with better team mates.

Wolves were interested in the summer and that was with him just coming back from an 18 month lay off and issues surrounding his off field behaviour. He's had a quiet 7 months on that front, has proved his fitness and has been the one bright spark for us this season. Whilst I think this particular 'rumour' is agent talk, I doubt it'll be long before the real rumours surface. I do think that he will go pretty soon as well, most likely in the summer because we're forced to sell him.

Port Vale fans, Jak Alnwick any good? I.E. could he step up to the Championship.

We've been linked, all be it on that HITC site which is generally a load of shite.

I'd be surprised if we sold him so quickly if I'm honest

Certainly a decent keeper, seems to have lost a bit of confidence on crossing recently but then again I rarely see a goalkeeper command his area at our level.

Potential to be very good in my opinion though.

Watch the highlights of his debut for Newcastle in their win at home to Chelsea last season!

Been superb and probably a player we could afford to lose in that we have two top keepers at this level with Neal in the wings... however now we have got him on a 2.5 year deal i'd want a decent fee for him!

Fair enough, cheers, no idea if there is anything in it and I have a gut feeling that we'll keep Johnstone until the end of the season anyway.

A lot of talk of Spurs or another Premier League team snapping up James Maddison and loaning him back to us for the season. No idea on the fee, a lot of our fans are expecting £5m but I get the feeling it won't be that high.
