Well, we are fucked!

Sawyers, Demetriou and Lalkovic all confirmed as having left...Paul Downing rejects his contract offer.

The club haven't heard a peep from Sam Mantom, Andy Taylor or Jordan Cook.

Still in talks with Anthony Forde.

In short - we are absolutely fucked as Bradshaw still has to be sold yet.

I will take them all please. Thanks.

(In truth I suspect they are looking a bit higher now, is Demetriou due to geography? Was reading Saffend and Portsmouth earlier...)

Signed Shaun Hutchinson on a free from Fulham. Clearly a direct replacement for Beevers and from what I've heard sounds very similar. Good in the air, decent feet but slow and liable to drop a bollock. Harris has wanted him for a while, so hopefully a decent acquisition.

Demetriou's having a medical at Southend, leaving us to be closer to home (Essex boy) ..

Lalkovic is decent but inconsistent and thought he was worthy of a pay rise/longer deal after 8 goals last season.

Downing is steady for about 7-8 games, next to a commanding partner. Then has at least 5-7 games a season when he looks like a rabbit in headlights. He won't be expensive and will go anywhere on a 2 year deal for security IMO.

Mantom is good at this level, reportedly needs a change of environment - Coventry and Barnsley link.

Taylor and Cook are handy squad players at this level, but both rarely stay fit for extended period of times and Cook doesn't know his best position.

Both would be very decent at the level below.

Sawyers is far too good for this level when on form.

Felt a bit sorry for Clarke as he never got a look in, when he signed he must of expected to be number 1 but to be fair Smith was excellent last season.

No idea how good Cornell is but hopefully he will just be back up this season.
Cornell?

Fuck, I feel for you lot.

Florent Cuvelier signed on a 1 year deal.

Very happy with that. He is an upgrade on Mantom IF we can keep him fit, and that's a big if with his record.

That's a risk, but one massively worth taking. No team has probably seen him fit since he left us after his loan spell.

IF and it's a massive IF he returns to playing week in and week out, we genuinely have one of the best midfielder in the division.

One of the best I've seen play for us.

He and Oztumer are, POTENTIALLY the 2 best pre-season signings we've made in years.

Ryan Clarke - opinions please Oxford fans?
Not an Oxford fan obviously but a few years ago when we were in L2, Ryan Clarke was one of the best keepers in the league. He, Slocombe, Bentley and Tommy Lee were in a real clean sheet battle I remember for most of the year and he was excellent in both of the games against us.

Far too much optimism there, bud.

Can you please revert to pessimism mode?

Surely a formality given how alike Burslem and Monte Carlo are....

Looks like Dicko is definitely leaving, unfortunate as he's been a really solid pro and done a great job as captain.

Oztumer? Midget fella from Dulwich hamlet? Neat and tidy player but not suited to the third tier of English football.

Will be interesting, their wages are more than our whole budget apparently! Notice the manager at Monaco has spent time in Portugal so maybe links with him and Bruno.

Disappointed Dicko has gone, although replaceable.

He did very well for Peterborough last season, so with respect I cannot agree with you.

Perhaps so mate, but he's quite highly rated. We normally sign Hereford's cast offs late in July after a trial so to compete with players who have a good reputation, still in the middle of June, with competition from other clubs is a big step forward for us.

They may not raise eyebrows for the rest of the league but we've seen Cuvelier at his best and if he recaptures that, he's very good. Oztumer sounds technically good and was tipped as Posh's next best non league gem, he should fit in well at us.

Of course he could be a total flop and Cuvelier might not kick a ball in anger, so.

Paulo Tavares rumoured to be signing in the Portuguese press from Vitoria Setabul... 30 year old midfielder.

The Vale fan who hates our left back so much for play-acting last season is going to have a coronary at the histrionics of all these Portuguese players that are coming in, they are probably the worst in Europe for it!

Ryan Clarke Northampton no 2 keeper supposedly coming to us. Any good?
We had him at Oxford for a long time. He was, in my view, better than either of the keepers we now have. Mind you, he sat on Northampton bench for a season. He is a great shot stopper, commanding in his area, brilliant on penalty saves. His problem is that he cannot kick to save his life! Wish we still had him to be honest!

The Monaco ones that appear available seems to be from Africa. Imagine we will raid Setabul though as that's his main club (player and manager) Porto Vale!

Reliable poster on our site has linked us with Kieron Freeman.

Fairly certain he is under contract though right?

He's free to a good home. We've transfer listed him, plenty of others you can have too :)

Our best ever import was a Dutchman to be fair.... Robin Van Der Laan!

Our last big foreign signing that came with a fanfare was Austrian Andreas Lipa... meant to be the dogs... looked ace against Forest, QPR etc but awful the rest of the time... culminating in him racially abusing a Plymouth player on our anti-racism day...
