Just that you're scrabbling around the bargain bucket just like the rest of us - yet you've got the world's wealthiest owner (allegedly).

No matter what logical gloss you put on it you've got to be massively underwhelmed.

Sheff Utd offered a contract to Fleck apparently, would be gutted if he left for another league one club

I'd be annoyed if he left to another league one side because it's just a sideways step. He's not an irreplaceable player though. We already have Rose, Gadzhev and Vincelot with Lawton/Finch (though I rate neither) as deep cover if needed.

Not really, it's the 6th of July and we've still got recruitment to go. We're debt free, everybody ( apart from the obvious one) we want signed up to new deals, kept hold of our manager and have just offered Taylor the best deal our club has ever offered. Taylor might well be off but that shows that Clarke has significant backing. We'll surprise a few next season, don't worry about us.

Hopefully, having read the reports from fans of Charlton, Millwall and Northampton, he may be one of these players that plays better with better players around him.;)

Lets be honest, if he can play wide or number 10 then we know which position he'll be in for us seeing as we don't use the other! Also, he's currently 3rd choice in that position (Dack > Knott > Martin), so the question really should be 'Is he better than the squad options we had last year?'. Seeing as we had literally no-one else who could play that position other than Dack last season, then yes, he is better.

Deji is Deji, we know what we're getting there. Solid enough.

LJ isn't "bargain bucket" - the deal to go perm won't be cheap. We spent a lot on the kid.
Just cos you spunked money on him doesn't mean he's worth fuck all. 2 goals in 2 seasons says it all.

I don't think it is the best contract we've ever offered to a player (people are getting confused as it was announced that the contract Darrell signed was the best we've ever given to a manager), but it would definitely make him the highest paid player in our squad if he was to sign it.

I am expecting him to leave now as he is clearly holding out for a deal from a Championship club, but I do think he is replaceable. He is undoubtedly a good player and he has been a big part of the reason we've earned back-to-back promotions, but he has only played one season in the Football League and may not make the same impact at a higher level. For similar wages we could sign a striker with a track record of scoring goals at this level. Probably not somebody who scored 28 goals last year admittedly, but a player with League One pedigree.

I think we're going to surprise one or two. I'm pleased we're going under the radar and that people are underestimating us because that's when we produce our best football, so hopefully we will be able to hit the ground running and show that we can compete in this division. We already have a good squad and with a few more additions still to be made, I think we have every reason to be optimistic.

Yeah that's what would be annoying, would be happy for him to go up to the championship, he probably deserves it. Gadzhev being talked about like he's the second coming of Zidane by that Kieran Crowley so I have high hopes for him, sounds like an adequate replacement.

Yeah, I was getting a bit mixed up and carried away there. My main point still stands though. We're in a good place financially and I expect to see a few more decent signings before the window closes.

Kieran Crowley thinks the Kelly-Evans twins are Cafu and Roberto Carlos.

I always take what he says with a pinch of salt

Ended up a car salesman before being in the National League North...

The only reason he was a car salesman is because we wrongly sacked him and after 2 sackings from his last club he would struggle to get a league club, so considering he doesn't have an ego he did that, and now his career is back on track.

If you think MacAnthony will write that off on a 20 year old with potential, you're not all there.

It's got fuck all to do with what he wants. If James keeps up his recent nothingness, he'll be worth nowt.

That's down to Luke, but having actually watched him play for a year, I know he won't.

There's a player in the kid, for whatever reason it hasn't worked here, and Hartlepool is the only place he has settled.

If he gets firing a Bristol Rovers, they've got a good deal when they buy him permanently.

I liked Kennedy when he was here but our left back options were so shit at that point that even Exodus Geohaghan would have looked capable.

I didn't hate Lee Martin, he ran a lot and wasn't afraid of a tackle but ultimately better players eased him out of the side (and some of those were bang average, like Chris Taylor). Without any pressure on him to succeed he might just turn out to be a fairly competent player at this level.

Loved a yellow card from a stupidly late challenge as well.

Luke James is the absolute kind of player I'd expect us to sign at some point and finally get 20 goals out of him, such is our record with that kind of young player with potential.

bang average and Chris Taylor don't belong in the same sentence. Long live the ginger Prince.

That's exactly my point - if. If he doesn't he'll be worth fuck all. When he went back on loan to Hartlepool he scored 1 in 20.

God knows what he would have done if he hadn't settled! Started scoring OGs?

Even when he had his 'golden' spell he only scored 1 in 5 - that equates to 9 a season, roughly. And you paid £750,000 for him?

Crofts is a championship level player, who has had a couple of really nasty injury's in the last few years. He did not perform that well during his loan spell, and I could not tell if the injury's have finished him, or if he just needs a good pre season.

Suspect he will want good money and that is not a risk we could take.

We've had a lot of this kind of dismissal of our signings the past couple of seasons. All of our players have been written off as past it/ untried/ bad attitude/ can't hack league football ,yet we're coming off back to back promotions. I've got every faith in DC to bring the best out of James and turn him into the player that he has threatened to become in the past.

Where did I dismiss him. or say any of those things? I even said he didn't get enough chances here as Parkinson had his undroppable favourites.

Guess the only route with him is to see what happens, City fans were all sat around jizzing themselves saying we've got a real player on our hands at this time last year and it never happened.
