We wouldn't let McFadzean go to a league rival for less than £500k and reeves is a lot more valuable to us, £750k plus at a bare minimum I'd say

It's all bullshit, then.

Mind you, we've supposedly bid £500k for Josh Cullen.

The bottom line is, all the signings we've made so far haven't been touted/leaked - so I think it's fair to say that no one, really, has a clue who we're supposedly after.

What sort of striker is he? We are desperate for one and he seems the right age for us.
There is a decent player in there somewhere I believe but he can be lazy and does switch off in games.
He doesn't win anywhere near enough balls in the air for a lad of his size.
Also his goal scoring record isn't great, something like one in four I believe.
If we get a fee for him, which obviously we will, I wouldn't be disappointed to see him go.

Apparently we have bid €200k for Anorthosis Famagusta striker Andreas Makris...

:eyes: We've bid money...

Nah that's harsh, he isn't shit.

People don't like him cause he doesn't run about like a blue arsed fly, but he does have good attributes. He's very strong, and has a very good touch. Also, he has no problem attempting shots from anywhere, and although the majority of them don't come off at least he has the confidence to try. A lot of Gills fans moan about him not winning enough in the air just because he isn't a midget, but considering the service he gets then most of the time it's such an unfair label. Plus he isn't even 6 foot tall so it's not like he's a proper target man.

If you get the ball into his feet then he's very capable. Unfortunately a lot of Gills fans have no patience with a kid (he's only 23!) trying to learn his craft as a League One player because he hasn't managed to score 20 a season since he arrived. First season he scored 7 in 46 (all comps), and last season he got 8 in 35, so that's progress in anyones books. Add in the fact that we have so many wankers in our crowd who love him to fail, and it's a surprise he hasn't wanted out before now.

I think it's incredibly sad that our fans have abused one of our players so much if I'm honest, I hope his next club has fans who won't do the same.

I know he's injured a lot but he's so important I wouldn't even except £750,000

Vale will do well to stay up, I reckon.

Based on? We haven't a clue how we will do so how an outsider can know is intriguing!

We look like we will dominate games possession wise and be technically good judging by pre season but the concern seems to be goal scoring (all be it we've played 3 Championship clubs which we've failed to score in)

Shit manager + players who have never played in this league + seemingly no goal scorer = I think you'll go down.

Any club who gets rid of Lord Gannon doesn't deserve to stay up

Why do Vale fans always bring up Gannon? It's your own fault you got rid of potentially the best manager you've had in years.

Because we live with the constant regret of getting rid of him

I think Vale will struggle.

Vast overhaul in the squad, who will still be gelling, a lot of those haven't played in the English leagues, and an unknown quantity as manager too.

Going to be interesting, for sure.

To be fair, irrelevant of what we seem to do in the summer, we are always fancied for relegation so this negativity towards us is nothing new.

Should this masterplan go tits up, I am confident that there is enough dross in this league this season to give us a fair chance of surviving

To be fair Fleetwood and Oldham are still worse off than you, so even if these guys don't settle, you only have to put together a better lot of results than 2 others which is viable.

Interesting approach from Smurf, but I wouldn't be comfortable if MacAnthony was doing it.

Football becomes boring when teams keep doing the same things just to finish in mid-table. I'd much prefer to see us going down trying something different than suffering another boring season stuck in mid-table after signing the same type of average lower league player.

And am I right in thinking that our 2 chairmen are quite good friends? Wonder if smurf will be offering Mac some advice ;)

I know you're taking the piss but the way you forced Gannon out was ridiculous, it's a good thing you won't be getting any success cos you don't deserve it.

Seems we have bid between £150-£250k for this Makris. Nothing official on our end, but they have practically confirmed the transfer/departure of him to us.

Club record fee..:eyes::£

Really? Took a side that was top of the table to mid table by overhauling the team and upsetting most of the players and staff. Him randomly playing youth players at Crewe for example who were never heard of again.

You say this but you have signed multiple non league players as a huge gamble which have come off and built your recent success on that... Smurf actually states he's based the idea as a tweak on what you do.

We trialed it a bit a couple of years ago and got Enoch Andoh in a similar scenario... had he not done his ACL away at Colchester in October I genuinely believe we would have finished a few points better off as he was quality and developing into a top player with Spurs rumoured to be about to table a 2 million bid.

We have got a solid core from last season... arguably our four best performers last season in Alnwick, Grant, Foley and Purkiss as well as JJ Hooper who (after signing from Havant) really started to shine through towards the end of last season and we have high hopes for this season.

Nathan Smith has looked a level above a highly rated youth product centre half who we loaned to Torquay (won player of the year there) along with the signing of Jerome Thomas who should be very decent at this level and we actually have a solid core of English players. (Can add Forrester to that as well if we can get the potential that he had prior to a bad injury out of him).

If three or four of the 10 (soon to be 11) foreign lads come through then we could have a really good season adding to what we have.

So far it looks as though Tavares and De Freitas look like they might be very good signings, Tavares playing top level in Portugal and De Freitas come through at Monaco with French U20 caps... the rest remain to be seen but whats the difference signing players from decent youth academies such as Monaco, Sporting Lisbon/Second division players in Holland and France to signing players from Gravesend etc.

It is a gamble of course but with the core of English players we have we should at the very lest avoid a relegation battle.

Although if we are not top six at Xmas... Smurf has a plan B apparently! (I assume this involves throwing more money at it probably!)

So you have the Port Vale fella going from Monaco to Burslem and now the Cypriot fella moving from Famagusta to Walsall?

They must have amazing agents or just hate life in general.
