If you took your post and went back a year, swap Morris for Dack and Wallace for Egan, it's scary how many similarities there are between our 2015 and your 2016!
Can't wait to finish 9th :(

He has had injury problems so missed a fair bit of the season. Recently back in the team and is looking better and better. Starting to look commanding and forming a decent partnership with Chey Dunkley.

I think the issue on the fee is so much upfront. That said if there is no sell on clause that might soften the blow.

A tribunal has ruled that we will receive 200k compensation from Oxford for Curtis Nelson, rising to 280k based on appearances. Probably a fair sum, though if it was a transfer fee I would like to think we'd have held out for more than that. It seems Oxford are not pleased with the amount which seems strange. What price were you expecting for our captain who made almost 300 appearances for us before the age of 24 and was offered a vastly improved contract?

The main disappointment is that it doesn't seem we have a sell on clause in there. That's a major blow as I can see him being a multi million pound defender in future. All the attributes are there, Oxford just need to continue to develop him well. How has he played?

Now been revealed that we do in fact have a 20% sell on clause (on anything above 200k). Which I think is appropriate considering how much time was put into his growth as a player here.

Surely the additional £80k for appearances would also go on the £200k for the sell on % if they are triggered?

Ranger signs 3.5 year deal. Very smart play from the chairman if he keeps it up and improves his fitness further he'll be worth an absolute chunk

Smart or brave?

I'd be astonished if that boy keeps his nose clean for another 3 and a half years.

I genuinely think he will. Seems like he has turned it around the time out of the game at Blackpool seems to have made him notice he needs football more than it needs him. He hasn't put a foot wrong so far here and so far has been one of the signings of the season. Long may it continue.

Wasn't he the same in his first few months at Swindon before going off the rails? 3.5 years is suicidal based on his past.

All I can see here is Southend hoping he has a decent 6/12 months and sell him for a decent fee. There's no way he'll stay consistent for 3.5 years.

Tbf he had already started to go off the rails at Swindon and Blackpool by now. His one year deal here had clauses about his behaviour I'd be pretty surprised if this deal didn't. Ron Martin is many things but stupid is not one. General feeling around the club though is that he isn't going to start missing training etc he seems to be loving it here and he is a favourite with the fans, management and players.

The record we have with him starting says it all about how important he is to us.

Ranger starting P8 W5 D3 L0
Not starting P12 W2 D4 L6

Southend do seem to be rather reliant on one player.
A pretty unreliable one at that.
Risky.

£400k fee set by tribunal for Egan's move from us to Brentford. Various add ons as usual

Nothing like what he is worth but then again we did only have him for two seasons.
A little different to if he had come through our academy and we had invested a lot of time and money into his development.
£25k for every 20 appearances and 20% sell apparently.

It's the 20% sell on that will make us big money really. Especially with some of the fees going around for far lesser players - Mawson (£5.5 million) and Tarkowski (Undisclosed, but thought to be around the £4 million mark) spring to mind from recent years and in my opinion neither is anywhere near the level of Egan.

We have signed Rhys Sharpe a 22 year old Norn Iron left back who has a handful of first team appearances on loan to such football giants as Notts County and Shrewsbury.

What is it with you lot and signing players who we've released and barely ever got into our matchday 18?

Balmy, Traore and now Sharpe.

We signed him on a 2 year deal last summer and then released him after a year without him managing to get a look-in despite us having about 3 or 4 terrible left-backs last season.

It is odd how we don't keep learning from our mistakes. Not got a clue why we signed Balmy. Traore I actually thought looked ok, but is now at Forest Green. We have seen potential in Sharpe so I guess a short term deal won't hurt. We could do with numbers and especially at LB where we are light on bodies.

Silly season has begun. Christopher Samba from Panathinaikos to Swindon. Which apparently is a rumour from some Greek rag.

Fleetwood fans, you may well be getting De Girolamo on loan from us in January. Ex Sheffield United and has done really well for our 23s this season, hopefully he has the same effect that Wes Burns did for you.

It is strange with Power signing these clones - and he thinks he's a football man. Maybe they'll be packed off to Waterford. Simply miles off being good enough.

BOO, Barry, Sharpe, Balmy - not forgetting Bangoura. Furlong doesn't impress me. Seems Power is after that attacking WB who can defend ad costs nothing in fees or wages!

I know its the Swindon way to write someone off before he's kicked a ball but lets give Sharpe a bit of time eh? Can't argue about the others though, I have completely forgotten who Bangoura is! I think Furlong is decent personally, definitely has something about him.

That wouldn't surprise me actually. I was at the match on Sunday and locals say that the new manager doesn't rate him.

He played 90 minutes against Luton and was abysmal by all accounts. It's not really the player, per se, it's the repetition of the same sort of player.

Someone with half a dozen first team appearances over a couple of seasons isn't what we need right now.

He is only 32 and has played most of his career at a pretty good level. He was on 100k a week in Russia, I doubt he is going to come to little old Swindon for circa 1k a week.

The offence was committed in February 2015? That's a bloody long time to investigate and charge isn't it?

He hasn't been found guilty as yet so perhaps we shouldn't pre-judge but if he is found guilty of defrauding a 'vulnerable' person surely that's it for him as a pro footballer.

Southend must have known about this so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Half of our first team would most likely be found guilty of defrauding vulnerable people by impersonating being a professional footballer. Some people actually pay to watch their attempts!

I did see that on twitter but your never sure, its the type of player we would go towards though and Burns did well here, there was rumour locally we are trying to get him also again as believe hes stalled at Aberdeen.

Rumour for us is that an ex premiership forward has signed terms for January but that could literally be anyone.
