Well I haven't seen any mention regards Vaughan or Madden either Social media or anything else. Regards Paul Taylor -- A big fat No.
Where? I've seen nothing about Madden or Vaughan, you're more likely to resign Luke James.
Whatever you like lads. I've seen it and I shall be expecting a big apology for these implied slurs on my character. UTG.

We've signed Matt Gilks on a free from Wigan. Seems a solid signing but he is getting on a bit. Hopefully McArdle to come soon but it's all gone a bit quiet on that front.

Having heard anything about Madden to Bristol Rovers but I wouldn't care too much if he left. If it means more game time for Van Veen then i'll be happy.
Decent replacement for Daniels on the face of it mate. Rejoin the WA btw.

What's Mark Marshall like?
Gone to Charlton as expected. Sad to see him leave but was always on the cards so we should have been looking for a replacement.

It's City though so probably been sat around with their thumb up their arse.

Mark Marshall to Charlton confirmed, inevitable as he wanted to move back down south but annoying as he was easily our player of the year last season

Peter Hartley has moved on to Blackpool. Bless his socks. Good bloke and we'll miss his goals. Turning circle of a artic and slower than a glacier though. Good luck Peter.

We offered Marshall the most we've paid anyone whilst we've been in this league and we're hopefully signing two early next week (although the club have started following Josh Law, released by Oldham, on Twitter which is incredibly uninspiring), plus we've made two six figure bids today (Friday)

You have an apology from me -- seen we have made an approach for Madden.

Am I going blind... where does it say we've made an approach officially?

Don't know what to make of this, either it's a load of bollocks to dampen fan anger or we simply cannot compete financially with Scunny and a Charlton side who have a leeching owner. Either way it's not great.

I wonder if the signing of Wilks is a stop gap move. I would question signing a 35 yr old, but he is a keeper and they tend to stay around a bit longer. A 2 yr contract sounds right. Here's hoping he can stay fit and his co-ordination doesn't waver.

Bantams - Is McArdle capable of playing at Championship level? If we are to go up, we need to have players who can make the transition. He is 30 yr old, which is a flag for me. I think we have talked to him and it's whether he wants to come onboard. I read Millwall is interested. If so, I think he will go there for Championship football.

Madden wants Championship football. Wouln't be surprised if he has passed a note to his agent on that line. Is Bristol Rovers more likely than Scunthorpe United to go up this season? If the money is right though, then we may sell, but I doubt it.

McArdle is good enough in a defending sense, he's decent aerially and he reads the game well to cover his lack of pace. He'll happily put his body in the line if it will save a goal and he scores about 3-4 goals a season too. But he's never been a decent technical footballer and the Champ is a step up in terms of strikers he will face.

If the rumours are true that you are offering him twice his current wage and a three year deal then that's mental to me but it's a question of whether that's true. I understand you have a wealthy chairman but for us to be comprehensively blown out of the water like that is worrying to me.

He sounds good so I hope you don't...

Seems we've opened up the purse strings a bit this summer.

For me, Wallace was our stand-out player last season. He has proved to be very good at L1 level after being let go from Championship side Huddersfield. He has some Championship experience, but not really as 1st choice CB. He is 24 yr old and ambitious (Scotland) and might make it at Championship level, if given the chance. He's known, as a Premier League scout told me, but there is a question mark about his distribution when under pressure. Technical stuff, but the scout was adamant. I have seen it on occasions, but it is not common. How many millions have you bid? :£

Thanks, bantamigo. Pretty much what I am thinking of McArdle. Our Chairman has a bit of money, but if the rumours are true, then I would agree about the mental bit. We'll see what unfolds. No need to worry, you'll be up there next season. If we take can 4 points of you as we did last season, we'll be up there too.

One of our directors (the Chairmans son) came out and said that us offering him double his wage wasn't true at all unless Bradford were offering McArdle pretty much nothing, didn't mention anything about a three year deal though.

And after all this, Appleton's leaving your small club not even to manage another club - to be assistant at one.
If you believe the papers then a 500,000 pound salary as an assistant with the promise of being the next manager can hardly be compared to another League 1 tin pot team ;)

Clearly he is doing something right at Oxford to be touted for positions like this.

The rumour was that we have offered him a wage increase compared to his current wage and you have doubled his current wage. He's been on that wage for three years so it's probably lower than expected but I doubt it's small. The rumour was posted by our journalist who wouldn't post stuff he's made up, he will have got it from a trusted source. But whether it's been exaggerated I don't know.

I saw the Twitter convo with the Scunny director and I didn't really get it, if you've got enough money to offer that sort of deal then fair play to you as a club. With all due respect to Scunny you must have offered him more than us, or else why would he move? Both clubs will expect to be around the top of the table, the bonus here is the crowds etc.

Bantamigo is spot on above, McArdle is an old school centre half who'll win 99% of headers but get done for pace, in our league he's ideal, in the Champ I would've thought you need a lot more strings to your bow as a centre half more so than just being a very solid L1 defender, as you say he's not getting any younger either. If he went and Kilgallon stayed on we wouldn't be any worse off in terms of the starting 11.

We're due to announce our number one goalkeeping target "shortly", meant to be a leader.

Rumour is that it is Jon McLaughlin, i'd be very happy with that.

Wouldn't have him down as a leader as such, but he's experienced and solid enough. Personally I wasn't a fan, but he's better than Doyle and Williams. Initially we replaced him with Pickford on loan so quickly forgot about him.

Should be a decent enough signing, but I always thought Neil Etheridge was class at this level I don't think Mac will be his quality.

Excellent signing. A 100% effort player. Needs to play RB imo to see the best of him.

Wish him well. Him and his brother, Louis, were a credit to STFC.

We're rumoured to be after Jonathan Obika from Swindon.
As long as you're not after a scoring forward he's fine. 25 goals in 3 years not a great return. Good hold up player but needs a clinical striker alongside - Ajose scored his goals in tandem with him.

No offence, but Id have thought he'd be after somewhere slightly more 'glam'

That's good then. We had a very good right winger playing RB all season so hopefully he can go to his natural position again!

Had a wonderful knack of letting in a sides first shot on target, came back with Burton the other year and did the same again when Kyle Reid scored past him. Plus even I scored a penalty against him on Sky in front of our Kop which I never get bored of mentioning.

Wouldn't be happy if we resigned him, tbf he's proved himself to be good enough at this level but he doesn't have any X Factor about him, under a few different managers he'd play a bit, get dropped, come back, play a bit more, get dropped... We haven't had a decent full time (as above we had Pickford on loan) goalie for years so JMc still ranks up there and certainly there are fans here who would take him back but I never took to him, always thought Matt Duke was the better keeper here before they both left.

Hmm well he's been rumoured fairly heavily to be coming here but he doesn't seem to fit into the criteria that our GK coach Neil Cutler usually looks for in a goalkeeper in both ability but also age in particular, which is far above what he usually goes for (23-27), so it might not be him after all. Jonathan Bond has been linked too who fits the bill much better, as well as Mark Gillespie, but it'll be announced soon enough anyway. If it is him though, then it might not be as good of a signing as some of our fans were hoping he'd be.
