We're closing in on Fleetwood's Conor McLaughlin. I don't know much about him aside from that he was in the L1 team of the year.

Conor was rejected by Preston as young lad and came to Fleetwood initially not as a regular and it was touch and go, but hes a grafter and stuck at it and thats how he is as a player really.

McLaughlin is also quite adaptable slotting in at centre half and midfield at times which often goes under the radar.

Hes not supremely talented but is a sold reliable right back who will give you 7/10 every week and if he is having an off day hes very quick to put it right and works out what he needs to do. He does venture forward but is conservative in his play higher up, knows his limitations.

Thats in L1 ofcourse though hes faced very talented players for Northern Ireland and not been over run far as I know, as I say he just sticks at it.

He's awful, truly awful.

Yea I just had a quick browse on twitter-not the best reviews I've ever seen.

I'd be asking serious questions then, where on earth is the money going? It's not like you're in any serious debt and you've got 20k paying customers albeit on discounted season tickets.
They've only been here 12 months so I'll wait a while before I start worrying where money is going missing

Apparently ourselves and Peterborough are interested in taking Kevin Toner on loan from Villa.
Any good, Bradford/Walsall fans?
Only played once(?) I think for us, scored though, can't give an opinion as his time here was almost entirely spent on the bench

Rumours we are signing Christian Walton on loan from Brighton. I saw him a few times playing for Luton, but how did he do at Southend? Cheers
Will get into the England senior squad at some point in his career

So Peterborough now have Marriott, Mackail-Smith and Miller up front. Neither apart from Marriott really shined here.

As mentioned, they haven't been here long enough for us to be seriously asking that question.

So far it looks like this;

Vincelot - £100k+
Wyke - £250k
Jones - £35k

Sold Hanson for £200k.

In the last 3 months we have received:

£400k from play-offs and Wembley.
Sales from 19k ST sold.
£100k from Charlton for Clarke
£250k from Huddersfield for Wells and their promotion.
Circa £400k+ from the Wisdom deal.

I keep clinging on to the fact that our business isn't done by a long stretch, so again, I'm gonna just have to reserve judgement for now.

Looks like we've taken Ryan Brunt on trial after Argyle released him.

He was quite well liked wasn't he prior to a bad injury?

So we've heard! I take it he would be a decent signing?

Apparently the bid is £150k - is he worth more and do you see that figure set to rise?

Yes he was, pretty universally. Was knocking them in for fun, then got a long injury, but got more injuries before he ever got back on the pitch.

So I am not surprised he has a trial with you, but I would say he is more of a gamble for you than say Yeovil or FGR. You have reasonable expectations of being top seven plus, and no one really knows how the injuries will hold up. If he had not got injured I am pretty sure we would have got promoted automatically that year. So if he has recovered, you have a real league two player on your hands. I do have one doubt, and that is I don't think he had a great goal scoring pedigree before us, and I do wonder if it was just Adams set up suited him, and your style is different. But really nice bloke, worth a punt for someone and I hope he gets a contract and succeeds.

What's your view about Grant, while I trust Adams, I am surprised we went for him?

Cheers. It's worth giving him a couple of friendlies I guess to see how he does.

I just struggle to see us needing him really with Reid being our main out and out striker and with McAlinden expected to play plenty too. We do play a different style for sure so he may have to get used to us not hitting the front too quickly, which may not suit him. Time will tell as to whether this has any legs but being out since March 2016 is a long old layoff.

As for Grant, he's an odd one. Definitely talented and at times looks very good but other times he really looks wasteful and selfish on the ball. He never really nailed down a starting place so we didn't see the best of him so maybe he will shine under Adams. There must be something there as he's played plenty in L1 and some in the Championship.

Our local rag have just confirmed that we are close to signing Billy Clarke's replacement. Namely, Shay McArten from Accrington. I've never heard of the lad, but he's just recently broken into the Northern Ireland snr squad, and notched 11 goals in the last 20 games last season by all accounts. Secondary striker/CAM/Number 10 .... whatever you call 'em.

Well loved by the Accy faithful, and they seem to think that should we sign him, it'll be a club record fee. The currently record being £304,000 for Bobby Grant sold in 2010.

Could be announced tomorrow or Friday.

After a busy couple days signing a Dutch keeper, Gregg Wylde again, ATS from Doncaster and Gary Sawyer signing a new deal... our best signing of the summer has been completed. Graham Carey signs a new deal.

Brilliant. That could honestly be the difference between us finishing 16th and 10th. The bloke is different class on his day.

Can't believe Carey has signed on. Undoubtedly the biggest signing of the summer. I had accepted that I'd be seeing him on the Channel 5 Championship Show bending in 25 yarders next year.

Begs the question why he hasn't gone to the Champ with all this said ability that he showed in League Two.

Possibly because he was looking for more money than what he's worth, or Champ clubs couldn't give him the game time - which makes you question what ability he could show in The Championship anyway.

Listen, ive never seen him play, but we'll see how it gets on in L1 first.

Brilliant news, this will have a very positive effect on morale in the club if nothing else. Being level-headed though, I am slightly concerned that we may appear to have one egg and one basket. I have not been too impressed by the signings so far, and I wonder if we have had to go for cheap/risky/potential because we have put so much emphasis financially on one person? That said, I am much happier that he has signed, rather than gone somewhere else. I hope the birth of his child goes/has gone well.

Carey signing a new contract's a massive deal for us, he was ridiculously good in league 2 and looked nailed on to go to a championship club, I'd pretty much given up on him staying so it's like a brilliant new signing

Inclined to agree, but in truth I'd much rather have my eggs in a quality basket that we know well, than an egg in a couple unknown dodgy baskets that could turn out as scrambled omelettes in the bin, if you know what I mean

Indeed, I do. I am absolutely delighted and never thought until early this week that he would re-sign. We are much better with him than without him, but I just have this concern that we fans should not expect too much this year as a result. Some of the comments on Pasoti are over the top a bit, his signing does not mean we should be looking at playoffs.
Every time I tell the kids about a new signing, my ten year old has just said "I don't care dad, come back when we have signed Carey." I've told his mum to get a message to him today at school.

sure the other signings so far are not exactly inspiring, but then in saying that I started last season thinking we'd bought in a load of mongs and most turned out decent to be fair so I've decided to just trust Derek this time and see what he does with them
