Begs the question why he hasn't gone to the Champ with all this said ability that he showed in League Two.

Possibly because he was looking for more money than what he's worth, or Champ clubs couldn't give him the game time - which makes you question what ability he could show in The Championship anyway.

Listen, ive never seen him play, but we'll see how it gets on in L1 first.
It is a fair question you ask. We'll never know, but my guess is that a) we have offered him something decent b) he was not guaranteed game time at Championship level. c) maybe the difference between what we were offering, and what was on the table elsewhere was not eye-watering.

I asked the league two forum who the outstanding three players of the season were, Carey and Enda Stevens were the most frequently selected. Stevens is in the Championship. I think Carey will do well at league 1, Championship I am less sure.

Is anyone else thinking that Carey could be pretty crap after all this hype?

Most goals and assists outside the prem over the last two seasons. Watch some of the goals he scores. He single handley wins us games when were up against it.

sure the other signings so far are not exactly inspiring, but then in saying that I started last season thinking we'd bought in a load of mongs and most turned out decent to be fair so I've decided to just trust Derek this time and see what he does with them
I do feel exactly the same way, he has proved himself to be an astute judge. But it is counter-intuitive to be cheered by people that others poo-pooh, or their record does not stand up. That said so many of those he has signed have clearly played their best with us, so hopefully the latest tranche too.

I've seen a montage of him someone put it on our forum when we allegedly spoke to him.

He looked to have a very good shot and can take a set piece, however I can't see him getting as much time on the ball now and some of the keeping was dreadful. I'm sure he'll do a job at this level but the way some of your fans are going on talking about expecting to see him scoring every week on channel 5 in the championship.

I just think he's probably been over rated somewhat. He was poor in Scotland which I hold in about as much regard as Sunday league and hasn't pulled up any trees out side of the basement division in England. He has a lot to prove at this level and he's getting to an age where he is likely to get one chance at championship level, if he's lucky and has a purple patch.

Carey been spoke about as if he's Messi.

Can't wait to see him go toe to toe with Lee Frecklington and Joe Newell. Fresh and fully fit for the first time in 18 months.

See if he lives up to the hype then.

Carey is not the messiah, but nor is he a naughty boy. To us out in the boondocks of the South West he is a talisman, a sense of hope. He won't be the best in this league, but he will win us some games. After a summer of uncertainty, today is a good day, no more no less.

No he's not. But he is important to us, you will also have players key to you.

I am more interested in how he will do against Ben Purrington when he switches to the right.

The thing with Carey is he's not your typical flimsy airy fairy attacking midfielder, he's a dynamo in the middle that's all over the pitch, hustling, tackling and sprinting back to track a player, and next thing you know he's pulling the strings and conjuring up some magic at the other end, so he's an all round footballer that is massive for us as a team, it'd be very hard to replace him

At last we have activity at Stadio:MK
26 year old Mali international defensive midfielder Ousseynou Cisse signs a 2 year deal. Seems to have spent most of his career in Ligue 2 so isn't a world beater, but at least at 6ft 4 adds the height we've been sorely lacking. As we've previously found out (with Benevente and Aguza), adjusting to the pace of the FL game takes a while - but at least it seems that he's got the physicality to make a good fist of it.

Cue scorn.

Posh sign Michael Doughty and Jack Marriott, from QPR and Luton respectively, for undisclosed fees.

Im pretty excited by the Doughty signing. Its been a long time since we signed a central midfielder who has played over 100 league games across the Championship and League 1.

Marriott was seemingly Luton's 4th choice striker going into next season but will be given times he's still young.

We've signed Michael Doughty from QPR. Theres's also a right back about to sign according to Darragh. That should see the squad pretty much sorted unless players depart.

Had an offer from Middlesbrough according to our 'itk' guy, and all rumours going around saying he passed a medical at Sheff Utd before bottling it. Those will have been at least double what we're paying him. The fact that he's settled here and his Mrs is due to give birth this week probably had a major impact, there's no way we are paying him anywhere near what he had on the table.

Looking forward to this season and springing a few surprises on these grim northern something holes.

Stephen Hendrie confirmed on 2 year deal with option of third. Was a great loanee here couple seasons back. Don't know how he was at Blackburn last season but only 22 and West Ham spent a million on him so he could be great

Lawrie Wilson (RB) training with Pompey today, any good? Played a few games for Bolton last season, and Charlton and Rotherham before that.

We have Lawrie Wilson on trial. What was he like Charlton fans?

'He used to be shite but now he's alright'

I like Wilson, he started off slowly but ended up being one of my favourite players (and many others favourite hence the song) from that side. Versatile player who can play in a number of positions in midfield and at fullback. Hardworking, can get up and down the wings. Not only that, he had a good relationship with the players and fans, a good character to have around. He's a good player, he's not spectacular by any means but a good, solid addition to most sides in this division. I would have liked Robinson to have taken a look at him to be honest.

Doughty was class for us. Scored at London Road for us when we beat you 2-1 as well. (think Ajose got the first).

Had we not got relegated I reckon he would have come back to the Country Ground permanently. I wish him well.

We've signed 6'5" Mali international defensive midfielder Ousseynou Cisse from French Ligue 2 side Tours.

Don't know much about him but he's bloody massive and has a decent left foot.

Carey sounds like this year's Matty Taylor. Him and his agent spend all summer touting himself to numerous Championship and League One clubs with higher aspirations. Finds out no one is willing to pay him the wages he wants as he hasn't proved himself at a higher level and shuffles back to his parent club.

Plymouth fans are really building Carey up for a big fall here. He does have very good quality but he isn't up there with the like of Joe Newell or Peter Whittingham.
