Nope would not want Poleon in any way or form. Would take Reeves though.

I think there’s a decent player in there somewhere, but I just feel it’s his attitude that lets him down.

RE: Lyle Taylor - we’re probably better off leaving your players alone. £225k we gave you last season, and let’s be honest, we’ve been left short-changed!

Poleon has got to be one of our worst transfers this century given we paid money for him. Reeves is just Billy Knott mark II. Looks like he might have something about him but then completely goes missing for long periods of the game. Can’t say he’s the only one last season though.

Poleon is one of those where he still gets signed at all these clubs despite all supporters of those previous teams slagging him off, he’s absolutely gash. On Reeves, he’s just bog standard bottom half/mid table at a push L1 player which this league is full of. I don’t know what extra qualities we’d seen to spend money on him in particular - when people praise the board for spending money on transfer fees and they end up with the likes of these two you have to say that that’s money not well spent.

Joe Riley, on paper he sounds a good signing, ticks the young player/potential box, would’ve had a decent set up at United and was captain there so hopefully an upgrade on last season at full back.

Not a transfer as such, but out-of-contracct young forward Matty Gillam has signed on for another 2 years.

Southend have offered Lyle Taylor a contract. Recon he would stay with is over them . He wants a big league one or a championship club.
Good player,I like him. But even better pantamine villein.Absolutely made my night when we beat you at home midweek. If you are going to wind up the home fans when you score, you’d better win. Okaywise you look silly.

Someone on our forum reckons we are in for Giancarlo Gallifuoco from Dover. Maybe something in this as we were apparently in for him last summer as well

Blackpool have signed Harry Pritchard from Maidenhead on a 2 year deal.

Hardworking winger who is dangerous cutting in from the left. Was excellent in the NL last year.

Beat us to it i know we were looking at him and thought we would have a good chance being only 10 miles from Maidenhead.

He better do. I’m expecting us to pair him with Liam Boyce who will sign from Burton. Glad he’s not at Yeovil anymore. A horrible club

What brought that on???? What have we ever done to you? We let you have Paddy Madden as well. Bizarre...

I am not completely sure on this but I don't think that rule applies to Non-League teams.

Unless its changed in the last few years the rule is there. We offered Godfrey Poku terms but he left to go Mansfield and we got compo.

Josh Wright apparently set to sign for us, any good Gills/Southend fans?

Reeves was/is an excellent player and half the reason we went down hill. Poleon I agree with you

Josh Wright is an average league 1 player. He is a very good passer of the ball and a decent athlete, but to balance that his tackling and defensive awareness is horrific.

His main issue is that his passing is mainly done from deep taking the ball off the defence, but that leaves him in a holding role where his faults get exposed time and time again.

If he needs to track a runner he will stop and point, if we should jockey and slow down an attack he lunges in. If he needs to go and win a tackle he follows a non threatening runner leaving the player on the ball a free shot at goal. He then shouts at the defence for letting in a goal and our fans lapped it up (badge thumping stuff etc).

He showed he could score a goal from a knockdowns or pens in his best season with us, but don't be fooled by his POTY award. He was the best of a very very bad bunch that year.

Getting him further up the pitch would be the best bet, with a mobile holding midfielder behind him. We had Dack during his time with us, so he was never going to get that role.

Can’t say I’m enthused about being linked to players like Josh Wright. Also flies in the face of getting young prospects in who can develop here.

All the young players at Gills worshipped him, although this may have been to do with the phalanx of blond Essex girls that would come to the games (See Dack's love island conquest).

Somehow can’t see all those Essex birds making the trip up to Costa Del Bradford for a February Tuesday night game!

Reading some Southend comments on Twitter and Andrewbooms comments he sounds like a less technically gifted Nicky Law (good passer, can't really do much else), so why let go of Law (unless he was on a fat wage). We've not signed him yet anyway so see what happens. I'm surprised he wants to venture so far up north.

I'm sure Wright is a great guy and a consummate professional, but I'm surprised if that's the level of player Bradford are going for.

It;s a cunning plan to get all other teams over confident.

We have a transfer committee of Rahic our chairman and Greg Abbott who isn’t even at the club as he’s getting treatment for cancer at the moment. I guess I should be happy we haven’t signed any unknown Germans from the German regional leagues yet.

Bang average L1 player is the first box on our new recruits check list so sounds like Wright will be a perfect fit.

Just throwing it out there, but perhaps Wright will arrive to provide strength in depth.

Apologies if this post was just way too sensible.
