We’ve been linked with a move for Matt Gooden by Alan Nixon today. Haven’t heard anything about Peterborough looking to move him on, thought he was quite highly thought of?

He's been given a monthly rolling contract, which and I quote 'has many stipulations included in it.'
He's been with us all pre-season and Bond seems to like him, says he's been a model pro so far and the penny might have dropped with him.

So if he is here at the start of each month you'll know he's been a good boy but if he's dropped like a stone he'll be off to beg another club to take a chance on him.

The 'obvious talent' line has been trotted out more than once by Bond on why he was signed. Just got to see how it goes I guess, he was on the bench yesterday and he's going to have to go some to shift Nathan Ralph out of the team if his performance yesterday was anything to go by.

He played for us in THAT championship season and was utter turd. Not even non-league standard.

Has never been 100% fit whilst at Posh but when plays he gives his all , scores goals at start of season & then goes on long barren spell ( did same at Stevenage ) not the quickest of players has just lost his Mum to cancer so maybe slightly behind fitness wise & most definitely game time.

Wish him well , really good pro , not quite sure why we've sold ( only 2 true strikers ) left in our squad but if we got £750k that's a £350k profit in 12 months for a 28 year old at this level is good business FFP wise for us.

£750k seems OTT for Godden?

We came up against him a few times in the NL and latterly for Stevenage in L2 and to be fair to him, he's a very hardworking striker who'll chase things down, be a nuisance and also surprisingly good in the air. Obviously had a good scoring record over the last 4 seasons, albeit 3 of those in lower divisions but £750k seems crazy to me.

I doubt it'll have been 750k up front tbh, but we also weren't in the best position as a buying club seeing as everyone knows we're A) desperate for a striker and B) are sitting on £3m from the Bayliss and Chaplin sales.

Very good player. We wanted him back but are apparently towards the back of a queue of clubs, with Man U allegedly wanting him to go to a championship or top end L1 club, so a bit surprised at the Southend link - nothing against you but was thinking he'd end up at somewhere like Blackburn/Barnsley/Millwall/Pompey/Ipswich...

I don’t think we will be helping you out with that one I’m afraid. We are already well stocked in midfield and it’s looking fairly certain we are bringing in George Thorne from Derby next week.

Stay well clear unless its a loan with a recall in Jan. He's a talented player, but he's started less than 90 games by the age of 26. That is worse when he was playing first team games at 16/17. Jack Whatmough is on his third long term knee injury at the age of 22 and has played the same amount as Thorne.

Yeah I’ve seen the quote. It’s Thorne that Robbo is referring to though. He came down for a medical last week but we were concerned about something so he’s gone back to Derby but should join next week once he’s proved his fitness.

Agree with your points, but would add that I think Jordan Rossiter could well be our star find. He has shown real class in pre-season games, should he stay fit, he and Coutts can dominate games.

Centre mid he turned down Peterborough a few weeks ago wanting to play in the Championship, he was instrumental in getting us to the playoffs and if he’s available for League 1 I would be disappointed if we didn’t try to get him back
