3-3 draw Vs Bristol City this afternoon. Another couple of goals for Gassan Ahadme who we have on trial from Norwich. Surely we'll take him on loan now as be seems to be scoring for fun.

Julian Borner looks to be off. Deal almost agreed with Hannover 96. 6 figure fee reported.

He looked brilliant when he first signed but that soon changed. Too slow and error prone but might have been okay in L1.

Looks like Sean Clare is off to Charlton. I imagine this has only materialised in the last few days as he played much of the game against Oxford City.

The experiment of playing him at right back was horrible. However when the ball is at his feet he is lightening fast and glides past players with ease. He looks like a winger to me, however played in the holding role for Burton on loan.

Happenings at OUFC right now are… Odd.

He played right midfield and central midfield for us probably 3/4 years ago now for a few games when we had a lot of injuries and looked a really good prospect only to reject a new deal with us expecting a better move. He ended up at Hearts getting relegated.

Surprised he’s playing in League One still, fully expected him to at least be a top Championship player.

Signed gassan ahadme from Norwich on loan. 20 old striker looks decent in pre season. Got 7 goals so far in pre season. 2 today v Bristol City. Also ex brum forward jayden Reid after a trial. Apparently was pretty average on loan at barrow. Think he's more of a prospect rather than first team as we released all our 19/20 year olds

Jayden Reid looked decent in his handful of appearances, but we were dreadful at the time and he barely got a start. No idea why he never played at Walsall.

He's a strong and skillful centre forward though his finishing looked a bit iffy. Should be a good option off the bench.

So that’s Portsmouth, Oxford and Lincoln where things don’t seem to be quite on track for the season start in two and a half weeks?
You can add us to that list, we are woefully short on numbers, need a gk, 2x dm, plus another winger on both the left and right side

An expected takeover was (at least we all presumed) was due to go through some weeks ago and I gather that has halted our plans.

Everything just stopped ticking about 10-14 days ago with no investment following a coordinated press release a few months ago to: the impending takeover.

Over the last few weeks, Atkinson and Clare sold for a little over £2 million. A VERY last minute kit release (a video package a few hours before the first pre-season game) with no fanfare or marketing. Dead silence from board level and a cryptic interview from KR. That’s all we have to go on.

I actually liked what I saw… Just not at right back!

Looked like he had real quality on the ball but was massively thrown under the bus publicly upon his return from Burton.

Sorry pal, but you're speculating on most of what you say.

You're guessing on the takeover halting our plans and guessing on no investment, and you even quote a specific timeline (10-14 days ago) which is just not true. You're way off with some of these suppositions.

Atkinson was always going once he got into the team of the season. He's a young man who's ambitious and his agent was doing what agents do. We got £2m for a player we signed for £100k a year earlier. I'd have liked to see another year out of him but you can't say it's bad business. We sold Clare, who wasn't going to be first choice in midfield, for a similar sum to that we paid for McGuane, which I think is excellent business.

There is a good and valid reason for the shirt fiasco, which may come out in due course, but it's hardly a big deal, and worth beating the club up over. Dead silence from our board is normal and KR's recent interview is what he normally does every transfer window!

Tariq Uwakwe played for us on trial yesterday. I don’t think there’s any Accy fans on here but has anyone seen him play?

The takeover was widely speculated to have been announced by now. At this point it is guess work, however it doesn’t take much to work out at this point that something is amiss. KR even alluded to it, so I’m unsure what your point is exactly? You also aren’t going to be splashing the cash mid-takeover if there is a hold up. Yes, that’s conjecture however that particular point rather holds up unless you can state otherwise?

I also haven’t said the Atkinson and Clare business wasn’t good. Incidentally I said on this very thread the Atkinson business was excellent business early on, despite many saying that it wasn’t! My point, centred around different aspects of both transfers. Atkinson - there was a good chance he would be sold, you would readily assume there would be plans afoot that early signings would be made in this key area. We had the luxury of knowing this well in advance.

Clare - It was obviously a quick turnaround too considering he played against Oxford City - No club would allow that if the transfer was imminent so something has evidently materialised quickly. Not unheard of, of course. However considering the less than stellar praise he received in the press makes me think that isn’t the warm welcome you’d hope for as a player! In summary, it proved to be an odd transfer which follows a strange time for him at the club. I’m surprised you think otherwise?

Right now, I’m assuming every supporter and KR himself would have expected more from the club in the last two weeks.

I am personally not panicking quite yet, however you cannot deny that if we went say, another week with no activity that you are suggesting the behaviour of the club is 100% normal? Heck, if we have a terrific week - Everything is hunky dory!

Bishop off to Lincoln, that's one more of the dross gone.

Never really been fit and never kicked on.

Midfield is one of the areas we're pretty well stocked up on. Bridcutt and McGrandles are pretty much guaranteed starters so he'll be battling it out with Jones, Sanders and Fiorini for the other spot.

Not sure what kinda midfielder he is, though?

My point is that you expressed all of these things as a negative, when in fact they're not at all unusual, particularly at this stage of the season, and particularly at Oxford United.

You have absolutely no evidence that KR should have expected more from the club in the last two weeks, you're just putting two and two together and making the number that suits your narrative.

So Karl did one of his weird cryptic interviews, he does it all the time, it means nothing other than he's feeling contrary at that particular moment. He's just done one this morning where he says he's delighted, it's what it is, and fans shouldn't hang on his every word. I would have thought people would have realised this by now!

Rumoured to be back in for Teddy Bishop from Ipswich. Really thought MK were getting him?

Edit, sorry didn’t see above posts.

Injury record makes me nervous especially since how much injuries hampered us last season.

Unless you are denying the validity of the possible takeover (reported by The Telegraph and accepted by other news outlets as factual), I can only assume you're denying it is having any impact whatsoever? Do you not think it is having any influence whatsoever? That must be a first for any football club!

It depends as to what you quantify as unusual. It's an unusual pre-season off the back of one of the most unusual seasons, ever. So by that yard stick, it's unusual.

Should we have expected more transfer activity by now? Probably, considering our last signing was 30th June and we have lost several players and under KR we have struggled to start seasons strongly and this had been identified. I don't think that's particularly controversial comment, nor conclusion to draw to have expected off the back of two play-off games (back to back seasons) and selling our prized asset to have anticipated more activity. It sits somewhere in the middle. It's neither exciting, nor time to panic. However it is reasonable to question considering the noises out of the club point to something. We just aren't sure what that something is.

As previously quoted I'm actually not all that concerned right now, I'm merely responding to your points which you have blown out of proportion a little. I even summarised with 'that's all we have to go on'... I.e. draw your own conclusions, which you have.

Brendan Galloway could be excellent if we can keep him fit.

Where have I said I deny the validity of the takeover? It's a takeover by people who are already shareholders and directors, not complete outsiders. They have already increased their shareholding in the holding company to give themselves a majority stake, so it's done other than Tiger has not yet sold his 26% to them. He's a dead man walking and that's the hold up in announcements etc. but it isn't affecting the current funding of the club.

I haven't "blown anything out of proportion" I'm redressing what I view as your negative spin on things where you responded to a comment about things going wrong at Portsmouth, Lincoln and Oxford by listing what you considered were problems at the club.

In respect of signings we are looking at five more according to KR. One of them is Seddon and that has been held up by the Birmingham COVID situation, but will happen. Two or three will possibly be loans, which may be later in the window. So we're looking at one or two permanents, one of which will be a centre half. We are in a much better position than this time last season and will only sign a player if it's the right one, as we're not desperate for any old signing.

Anyway, I've got work to do, so let's wait and see what transpires.

That's his type of signing. Local lad from Cambridge so he will know him well. Not a negative post just saying I think it will be him pushing/suggesting that one.

Fair enough, I think Jez George and all the backroom team work hard on constant transfer targets.

The market does seem very very slow at the moment.

Players holding out for the bigger offer but at the expense of no pre season with a club.
