Hakeem Odoffin confirmed signing from Hamilton for undisclosed fee.
Originally a defender but played mostly as a defensive midfielder last season for Accies.
Hope he is as good as Ajayi turned out.
It's been known since Saturday but our media team have been on a tea break.

Any Cheltenham fans care to give an opinion on Chris Clements? We have him on trial tonight.

We’ve just announced George Byers on a permanent deal from Swansea.

Any good Pompey fans?
You could see he's got quality, and was heralded as a game changer. Had a great game v Bristol Rovers away, got subbed and then dropped. Not sure he fitted under a more direct play under Kenny and his fitness was poor when he came to us. Got tons of ability and can do things and see passes no other league one player can.

Cheers. Sounds like a midfield 3 of Wing, Byers and Bannan could be pretty exciting then!

I honestly think that the squad we’ve got at the moment is at least on par with the squad we had at the end of last season. More creativity and pace. A striker, winger and centre half needed for a bit of depth and we’ll be good to go.

Cook has come out today suggesting we will sign "four, five, or six" more.

GK, CB's, another LB, and another winger perhaps?

He loves spending other people’s money doesn’t he

To be fair, we've made over £2mil from player sales and countless 10's of thousands from shipping out the entire first team. We won't have any issues with FFP/60% salary cap.

A decent midfielder who can count himself unlucky to have not been offered a new deal in the summer, though he would have only been a squad player if he did. He got injured in December/January time and was ruled out for the rest of the season.

He's quite creative, plays a nice pass, and is also not scared to get stuck in when required. Decent dead ball on him as well. Exeter could do a lot worse.

Cheers. Maybe he could end up being a solid addition. Taylor said after tonight’s game that he will assess whether we offer him a deal, and I get the feeling we will know one way or another this week.

Will Mannion signs as cover/competition for the no.1 spot. Formally of Hull City, Wimbledon, Plymouth and Pafos FC in Cyprus.
I actually felt a bit sorry for Will. Back in the season when we had 7 or 8 different keepers we had to sign him on an emergency loan, so that he could play in our EFL Trophy game against Yeovil.

He even tweeted the usual crap about being buzzing after signing etc.. then after the game we sent him back!

Rarmani Edmonds Green CB signs on a season long loan from Huddersfield.
Played 20 odd games in the Championship last season and won promotion on loan at Swindon.
Seems like he is a decent young player, it's a pity it's not permanent but who knows, it might be come January.

REG was a handy loanee for us. A steady eddy really, that said i cant remember his attributes but he came in and did a good job from memory.

Oxford fans, I believe we have Liam Kelly training with us after he was released by Feyenoord. Any thoughts on him as a player? Likely to be able to do a job in L2 or too lightweight?

Ask Reading supporters and they will tell you he is a technician and they can't understand why it hasn't worked out with us. He was a good Championship midfielder and played in their play-off campaign not all that long ago... He evidently is/was an excellent player and still reasonably young.

Without speculating, something went badly wrong with him. Looked to be carrying a bit of timber when we first signed him and didn't play much; Feyenoord supporters referred to him less affectionately as a 'garden gnome'. They weren't massive fans of his and in the end despite much patience, neither were many here. He scored a cracking freekick against Newcastle in the cup in one of his first outings... Thereafter? He runs around a lot to give him his due, but he is little to no impact on games which has left many confused as to what happened to him to decline so quickly.

He was fairly awful for us in truth and was the farthest thing from being a technician with us; he didn't display anything remotely resembling that description with us and I don't say that in jest. He's become, sadly the butt of the jokes on our forum such was is lack of anything during his stint with OUFC.

Just totally non-existent and didn't look capable of League One football which is odd, because his decline looks to be very significant in such a short period of time. In reality he should be nowhere near League Two based on his experience and age. He wasn't anywhere near the team in the end of the season with us, failing to even make the bench. Considering we had him for 18 months, management in effect gave up on him eventually and lost patience.

It sounds as though we’re close to beating Cheltenham to signing Saikou Janneh from Bristol City on a permanent transfer.

If that comes off then Salop would have beaten Cheltenham to a signing for the 4th time this summer (Leahy, Nurse, Bowman). They must hate us!

George Hirst on loan to Pompey. Stats arent great with 31 apps and 0 goals or assists for Rotherham in the Championship, but most appearances were from the bench.

Hopefully he’s good!
The Cowleys have meant to have been keen on signing for ages, linked with us when they were at Lincoln in both 2018 and 2019.

Cheltenham seem to be missing out on an awful lot of players but have kept all their team together from last season so will still cause teams problems (especially with the long throw). Have you signed a new striker yet?

A six figure fee has been agreed with Rochdale for midfielder Ollie Rathbone.
It's not been announced at our end yet but we have replaced 6ft 4" Crooks with 5ft 7" Ollie.
I hope he can jump.
One thing's for sure, he will enjoy playing at the AESNYS all Rochdale players do. We always lose to Rochdale.
Any thoughts 'Dale fans

Confirmed today.

We haven't, but Andy Williams has found his shooting boots in pre-season.

To be honest, the only player that was practically in the door was Nurse. We were linked with Bowman because we made a bid in January, but there was nothing this summer. Leahy rings a bell, but I don't know how much we looked at him. Same can be said for Janneh.

Crowley we pulled out of when his agent moved the goalposts. Timmy Abraham we rejected, the same for Vince Harper.

Duff has been extremely open about the fact that we could go out tomorrow and sign 4 or 5 players, but it doesn't mean they're the right ones. I trust him more than those shitting themselves on Twitter and demanding every free-agent going be signed on.

I looked into it yesterday to confirm my suspicions - in 2006 we won the League 2 playoffs. Our first game of the following season we shocked Swansea by beating them 2-1. There was not a single summer signing in that squad. We finished that season 17th in League 1 - our highest League finish in our history. In the last game of that season, the only players involved who weren't at the club in 05/06 were Craig Reid and Paul Connor - both late substitutes and neither of whom we'd consider a good signing.

Now that's not to say we don't need reinforcements, evidently we do. But we really don't need to panic either.

Watch Andy Williams score his customary goals against us on Saturday then do sod all for the rest of the season now.

In all fairness though, and I've said it before, could genuinely see 2 or 3 of the promoted sides dropping this year. The bottom 4 last year were of a woeful standard compared to the other sides in the league, and even then Wigan have improved off the pitch this Summer. I know Plymouth and Doncaster had terrible second halves of the season but I'm sure they'll be stronger this season although I dunno if Wellens is a good manager without Eoin Doyle up top.

League Two looked awful last season as well, and with the 4 sides going down not looking strong next season, I genuinely think it'll be even poorer in quality next year. Which would obviously make things wide open and chaotic...

I would have agreed with you on a normal season but i dont see us or Cheltenham being down below half way
Cambridge could even scrape out of the bottom 4 .....The reason being the are too many teams completly rebuilding. I dont see anything special in this league Ipswich apart

You absolutely don't need to panic - you've been bloody good for the last couple of years and everyone in your team knows his role. Also, there's gonna be a lot of free agents who are gonna have to massively rethink their demands in a week or two...

This is exactly it - the continuity we have in the squad is phenomenal. On Saturday, at least 7 of the starting 11 will have been in the starting 11 against Northampton in the playoff semis last year. Of the players not in that team, only Ryan Broom will have gone upwards from us (although he's now on the same level again).

Duff knows what he wants, attitude is at least as important as ability (if not more so), and he's quite prepared to wait for it.

I am happy that we have kept the spine of our team with Jackson, O’Keefe, Dempsey and Oliver. We have added a few so I reckon we should be fine. Top ten for the past couple of seasons but this year looks a stronger league to me.
It’s interesting that people are saying that rebuilding the entire squad is a disadvantage, which I agree it is, but are then tipping up Ipswich who are undergoing the biggest rebuilding job of anyone in the division.

Completely agree but I am concerned in the lack of depth to the squad, it would only take a couple of injuries to those you mention before we’d be down to bare bones.

Definitely need more up top too.
