Two players (a midfielder and a forward) expected in before Saturday with one likely to be confirmed today.

The expected midfielder is Calum Wright on loan from Leicester. Which will be a great signing as he was with us in the second half of last season so will know the squad already and is certainly capable of the step up.

We have been linked with a loan move for Bristol City player Ryley Towler, can play midfield or centre half. Can only imagine were looking at him playing at the back. Cheltenham and Rochdale are also interested.

Our twitter admin may have been hinting towards a local butcher. Matt Butcher from Accrington who is a local Pompey lad

Been mentioned on our forum that we and Cheltenham were interested.

Edit - and Hartlepool if the lad really wants to go a long way from Bristol!

Lee Gregory has supposedly had a medical and is nearly a done deal. He’s 32 now but still got the legs from what I saw last season. Had 2 good seasons in League One with Millwall a few years ago. Would be happy with this one.

Confirmed at lunchtime. Very happy with this signing.

Never heard of the lad, can only assume our link is due to him being a Bristol City player.

Alan Nixon and your manager in his Q&A.
I was there at the Q&A and there was no mention that he has rejected the contract on offer by us. Robbo only said a very good offer was on the table for him. He is currently considering his options though, wouldn't be shocked if he did leave.

That Ryley Towler link is bullshit. No way do we need another midfielder.
Probably right, he's played left sided centre half mainly over the last 18 months though. Not the dominant experienced centre back i feel we need though.

Second signing of the day - Taylor Perry from Wolves.

A midfielder who got into their teams for a couple of League Cup and Europa League games (including the 4-0 win over Besiktas) in the last couple of seasons, so sounds very promising.

Brought in Mustapha Carayol, who has most recently been playing in Turkey and before that Cyprus.

Confirmed along with Marvin Johnson. Looking forward to the season a lot more now than I was a few weeks ago!

It's surprised me that DM has signed another two players over 30.

Gregory is 33 come the end of August and Johnson is 31 in December.
Add that to Palmer (30 in Sept), Jack Hunt (31 in Dec), Bannon (32 in Dec) and Hutchinson (32) that's quite an old core to the team.

Don't get me wrong, their experience could be invaluable but Moore usually builds a team of mainly youngsters.

Those 6 all look like starters to me so the other 5 are going to have to do a lot of their running over 46 games (and not forgetting, one of the 5 is the goalkeeper).

I agree mate, after the first 3 signings of Shodipo, Brown and Adeniran I was expecting a window of younger players although some experience was well needed after losing some of the players we have over the last couple of years.

I suppose the plus side is that none of them have ever really had the blistering pace to lose once they got older. It’s looking like Hutch has dropped back into centre half this season as well so less running for him.

Hopefully Moore has realised part of falling short at Donny was lack of experience.

We’ve signed Jubril Okedina from Spurs. Was part of the promotion squad last season on loan from Spurs.

Captain of their U’23’s and I’m surprised they’ve sold him to us as I was expecting a loan. Really pleased with this signing.

Great player for us . Trouble is that was 10 years ago. Hopefully you've got a good'un there.

I've just been checking the ages of our players to see how we compare.
Woody is the oldest by a country mile at 36 but he won't be capable of playing anywhere near the full 46. He does offer great leadership and scores a few goals but we have to accept it's his swansong season.

After that Joe Mattock is 31 and Ferguson is 30 but as they play in more or less the same position, there will be few occasions when they are on the field together.
Curtis Tilt has just turned 30 but he hardly ever plays (either injured or loaned out).
So it's unlikely we will have more than a couple of 30 + year olds playing together. But Icky is 28 and MacDonald 29 so that's where our experience is.

All our midfielders are between the ages of 22 and 27 so we will be a young fit team in that area.

Up front, Smith is 29, Ladapo 28, Kayode 21, then 18-19 year old young uns to fill in.
We could do with another striker in his middle 20's with a bt of pace but as things stand I think we can be hopefully aiming for the play offs.
We do need to hang onto Smith though.

Seems to be very well thought of at HTFC

We're looking to bring two more in - defender, probably someone who can cover RB and CB, and also a striker to fill in for Hopper.

We were interesting in young striker Lee Bonis from Portadown but his fee is too high for us. Still being linked with the LB from Dundee United as well.

Luton and Posh have apparently made bids for Tayo Edun. I'd be disappointed to see him leave, I think he would be best served staying here for another year under Appleton, although I think he's out of contract next summer. Mind you, if the fee means we can go out and solve/upgrade a couple of areas of the squad then...

Really knobhead. We are owned by a former CEO of the FA and previously one of the top business rescue experts in the UK and his ex business lawyer wife, not forgetting the owners of a multi billion Indonesian company who own around 20-30% of the club. We are also sponsored by a massive Indian company who have a turnover of around £14bn a year.
We made a loss of £700,000 last year because we had to spend money on a new pitch and because of the pandemic. Bolton lost £3•5m.
Losing money is habitual for your club because you constantly get away with it.
we have not published figures for last year.....keep up the abuse la

Don't really get the Robson move unless Tayo is off or moving into midfield which I can't see.

Really don't want to lose Tayo, I really like him and from seeing him in his first game he just looks a player - the way he moves, the way he controls the ball. Yes, he gives the ball away on occasions and can have a bad 20 or so minutes possession wise but he's progressive, positive and can spot a pass. I really hope we can keep him beyond this season. I'd be looking at high 6 figures at least, not many competent, young left footed full back/centre midfield.

Bonis - for a low fee sure take a gamble.

Marvin Johnson's whole game was about his pace, and crossing ability, when he played for us. If he loses his pace then he wouldn't have much to offer.

Bit of an Oxford United reunion going on at your place with Dunkley, Shodipo, and now Johnson playing for you.

That was the only one I was unsure of to be honest! I’m not very familiar with him but going off Boro fans’ comments he’s not lost it at all.
I had high hopes for Dunkley but he hasn’t really got going here, probably because we signed him during recovery from a broken leg so he was always playing catch up. He will be starting as 3rd choice centre half this season by the looks of it. Shodipo done his hamstring in the first half on Sunday but has looked lovely in pre season.
