I'd hope it's us in for Owen Dale but I don't think we'll be spending a fee this window.

Blackburn would be my guess, expect them to be busy now they've sold Armstrong.
Better not be, we need to keep some of our young talent

Sheffield United bid for Kirk confirmed. Can't see him going anywhere in this league now. They'll blow any side in this league out of the water when it comes to wages.

We've had a bid rejected for Brandon Hanlan apparently. Bristol Rovers want the £150k they paid Gillingham.

Not sure we'll go that high for what will be a second or perhaps even third choice striker.
How much was your bid ?

Lightning pace but one of the worst finishers I ever saw in a gills shirt
Well maybe your club could give us a cut price figure of 250K as you valued him at 750K at the tribunal.

Charlton have a good one in Kirky. He can frustrate at times. Alot will depend on your formation but he's best on the left of a front 3. He's not exactly the quickest, nor is he slow. But he's got fantastic technique and great movement off the ball. Will chip in with goals and will get tons of assists.

Look after him and sell him on for millions please.

I'm actually happy he's joined you lot because at least he'll play for you regularly. Real good talent who will be missed. Hope he does well.

Yeah, to be honest I didn’t think we had much chance if the Sheffield United link was genuine. I did suspect at the time they were being used to either hurry us up/get more money.

Either way, pleased to have signed him and on a long contract.

How can you be happy he has gone to a team in the same league and possibly helping to take 6 points off you?

Probably because him leaving was inevitable and he’d rather see him playing regularly and develop further rather than stuck on someone’s bench.

Also increases their chances of a decent sell-on, if he has a good couple of years here he may get another bigger move. He goes to Championship and barely gets a look in, he may well just end up back in L1.

Moving to a club in the same league isn’t ideal. But it’s the club’s model to produce our own and sell them on, it’s why we’re never in any danger of going bust. And if he plays well for Charlton there’s a very good chance we make even more from the sell on and add ons.

Good luck to Charlie. Charlton have got a great player and a great lad.

Surprised Blackburn weren’t interested, the Pickering & Kirk double act was insane last season and they played a big role in each other's moves.

Looking forward to seeing how Artell responds to this last week or two. If the new ownership are good to their word, Kirk’s fee shouldn’t be swallowed up and never seen again. We should at least see some re-strengthening, which we never saw in the late Hassall years when we sold players, and no pleading poverty. Full faith that it isn’t going to ruin our season like some on Twitter are suggesting.

We’ve lost NG, Pickering, Wintle, Lowery and now Kirk in the space of 7 months. I’ll remain hopeful but surely you must see that as a cause for concern? The league seems a bit stronger this year, but thankfully the promoted teams are weak.

Agree with the Blackburn point though, they’ve missed a massive trick there. 500k for what would be one of the most lethal left wings in the championship.

Any Wimbledon fans able to tell us about Terell Thomas? Just signed for us, another measly 12 month contract though.

It's definitely concerning but kinda exciting too. Looking forward to the next batch coming through in a year or two and we have got some good players in our team already and I trust Artell to get it right.

Really surprised Lincoln are in for Hanlan, didn’t set the world alight here or at Rovers, I’m very confident there are better options on frees or loans.

Would be a waste of a fee in my opinion.

I think my point was that we should fare better with the losses than in recent history regardless. For the last 15 years the club have not wanted to or been unable to act when we’ve lost players due to Hassall and co. This is the first test of the new regime. I’m not overly concerned with the losses as they were all nailed on to leave in this 12-18 month period. It’s have been amazing to keep them but we are Crewe innit. Like pies, just excited to see how the club react and who is next in line. I feel the club have done a bit more forward planning than when we lost Powell and Westwood. I still think our starting 11 is competitive at this level. What’s backing them up leaves a lot to be desired but still a couple of weeks to bring players in. We won’t cause any massive upsets this season but also don’t think we’ll go tumbling down the leagues yet again.

Although apparently he came on in the charity shield at the weekend so I dunno if it's just someone winding me up...
That shouldn't make a difference I wouldn't have thought. They were very low on numbers for the game, he will be nowhere near the 1st team.

I wonder if that's where this #igotafeeling (Black Eyed Peas song, tonight's gonna be a good night etc etc) is coming from? Club did it announcing Thomas before, Mcgarry did it the other day...

To be clear I've not heard anything about signing him. But it does fit.

You will have to be quick as Gills valued him at £750k so surely they will be after him for a knockdown price?
That’s two of you mentioning that.
What do you think clubs do when going to a tribunal? Ask for what they think he is worth or inflate it knowing that whatever they ask for will get reduced?
It is common practice and sensible at that.
You lot are in danger of becoming as bitter and twisted as your manager

Exactly my thoughts too, doing anything else before a tribunal would be plain stupid.

Yeah, I guess all of that is true. If memory serves, "I've got a feeling" is McGarry's go-to phrase when we're about to sign someone. McGarry said before that he's not expecting any more movement before early next week anyway.

Apparently, Tommie Hoban has called Artell to ask if he can sign for a non-league team.
