I really hope this strategy from Ipswich blows up in their faces in all honesty. League One seems a nightmare this year.
Other than the Prem, I do feel League One has the greatest disparity in financial positions for clubs. Ok in League Two we had Pompey and Bolton who looked way out of place and were much bigger than the smaller sides but they were coming out of big financial issues so were exceptions. Looking at Sunderland, Portsmouth now, Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton (all would look normal in the Championship) compared to us, Morecambe, Accrington and so on is like comparing chalk with cheese.

Signed Nathan Thompsons brother Louis from Norwich. Had massive injury problems, but think he's on a performance based 12 months with an option. Low risk if Cowley can get 20 plus games out of him. DC seems to have good physio people around him and has a history of working well with players with previous injuries. Fingers crossed

Just been reading Cowley's comments about Jacobs, they're cringeworthy but hilarious. He's obsessed. Bitter, jealous, average L1 manager. Very entertaining but I feel for Pompey fans this season.

On another note, reported fee for Downes is £1.5m rising to £2m. Staggered if that's true.

Warnock has also come out and said he "didn't have a choice" in the Coulson move as Cook was ringing him every minute of the day for weeks & had turned his head. I'm loving the feathers we're ruffling after being a stagnant club for the best part of a decade!

We’re losing last season’s captain Ollie Norburn. I’ve heard it’s Bolton that he’s off to. Good player for this level but has a terrible attitude. Tends to get himself into trouble on nights out which is why Steve Cotterill has stripped him of the captaincy armband and has seemingly fallen out with him.

We’ll probably accept around 250-300k with a sell on clause.
There's a rumour that we were sniffing around, but he's turned us down. Bolton seems likely.

We are MASSIVELY below FFP regs. £2.5m in player sales & 24 senior players out the door. 14 in. We're nowhere near the 60% wage cap.
Remember that £2.5m is amortised over several seasons. I understand the wage bill last season would’ve been humongous anyway, but there is no way the budget isn’t outstripping income. You are spending more than some Championship teams. Didn’t you just spend £500k one one player? You offered our captain £10k+ a week.

As for FFP, not an expert in what happens below the Championship but you can lose up to £39m over three years, so that isn’t a ringing endorsement.

We've paid £1.2m in fees and now brought £3m+ in.

Cook wants another 3 players (please god let them be CB's). We are so far under the 60% cap its laughable. There's not even a debate to be had; 24 out, 14 in. +£1.8m profit from player in/outs. You don't need an A level in maths to run the numbers.

Oh, not to mention Sheeran sponsoring us for reportedly a "generous" fee. If we come unstuck for anything, it will be that as I'm led to believe there's regulations in place now to try and deter sponsors overpaying. Whether that's actually true is anyone's guess.

A new deal close for Josh Windass. Might be the best but of business we do this summer.

A really good player but he really is made of glass. He would be here if he had managed about 25 games last season I'm convinced of it. Apparently a deal was in the pipeline back in May but it's understandable that it didn't come off given his injury issues.

Why are you loving ruffling feathers? There’s a right way to do things and seems to me your doing anything but.
With cook in charge I really shouldn’t be surprised, the bloke is an utter bell end.

Really wish him well, as I'm convinced he'd have been good enough for us in the Prem if he hadn't been so plagued with injuries throughout his development: I remember he came off the bench for us once having just returned from injury, before having to come off a couple minutes later after he overextended into a tackle. He more than looked the part when he was able to briefly remain fit, so if you can keep him fit he should do a good job at this level.

I’m sure salaries play a part, if you are poaching players from championship clubs, they aren’t going to be on peanuts, nor will their signing on fees and agents fees, it’s not just about transfer fees in v out.

Although he does come across a bit David Brent sometimes, I think he's being pretty honest here, as he usually is. Jacobs was undoubtedly messed with. A simple phone call probably would have been in order.

No real need for the "bitter, jealous, average" nonsense. We're pretty happy with Cowley thanks, as you should be with Cook.

They definitely need to strengthen after Luton blew them away on Saturday
As do we now! We’re worryingly short. I’d be surprised if we’re able to fill a bench tonight. We need atleast 4/5 signings. You lads should beat us with ease tonight.

Similar problem for us, we are 4/5 light in terms of injuries and also need 3-4 more signings so nothing is a given tonight or the first few weeks of the season.

it’s going to be a while before we fully get up to speed I reckon, though we won’t be the only club needing to do that by the sounds of it.

Danny Cowley used to search his name on Twitter and block people with different opinions, something a modern David Brent would probably do

No chance would he have dropped down a level let alone two. He’s gone to Peterborough confirmed now
He’s from Bolton which is probably why there was a link but we are absolutely stacked in midfield depth wise. It’s our strongest position. At least 6/7 players fighting for 2/3 positions. No way we are in the market for a midfielder. Pretty sure we won’t be paying any fees this summer either. Frees and loans for us. Dont think we will add any more anyway unless we sell/Loan out first.

One area we are stacked in as well. I think we have 7 midfielders currently. It’s up top, keeper and defensively we are really short.

Appleton hopeful of as many as three in before the Bolton game, although I suspect it'd be highly unlikely any will feature for it.

We really need strengthening at both ends of the pitch. RB cover is a must because last night we ended with a CM playing there and we need another at the top end of the pitch as well. In my opinion we also need a CB. We currently have four but three of those keep picking up niggly injuries (although Walsh is out until October) and the other is transfer listed.

There's a bit of scope in the squad still, we've got four or five youngsters who'll have no trouble picking up loan moves to NLN sides if needed.

That'd leave us with a squad of 22/23 seniors, which is two up on last season I think. That seems about right for us.

Reports suggesting that we’ve beaten Wycombe & Sheffield Wednesday to the loan signing of Sam Cosgrove from Birmingham.

If this comes off then I’d be very, very happy. A striker that could potentially hit 15-20 goals at this level. Hopefully this gets announced soon!

I think he was our other option if Gregory didn’t come in. Birmingham fans laughed at how bad a signing it would be but he’s got a fairly decent record for one of the better sides in Scotland.

We’re getting torn apart. He’s worth double that at least, I can’t understand what’s changed so that our homegrown players are going for such measly fees compared to what they used to.

It isn’t just Crewe players, very few players from below Championship level go for over seven figures and the smaller the club the less likely they will.

Now confirmed on a season long loan.

Apparently beat off three fellow League 1 clubs (all of whom are promotion contenders). Extremely happy with this one, can see him scoring plenty for us.

I'd hope it's us in for Owen Dale but I don't think we'll be spending a fee this window.

Blackburn would be my guess, expect them to be busy now they've sold Armstrong.

We've had a bid rejected for Brandon Hanlan apparently. Bristol Rovers want the £150k they paid Gillingham.

Not sure we'll go that high for what will be a second or perhaps even third choice striker.

Lightning pace but one of the worst finishers I ever saw in a gills shirt
