Yeah, I guess all of that is true. If memory serves, "I've got a feeling" is McGarry's go-to phrase when we're about to sign someone. McGarry said before that he's not expecting any more movement before early next week anyway.

Apparently, Tommie Hoban has called Artell to ask if he can sign for a non-league team.
Ahh, I didn't know he did that.

In regards to Hoban. Let him do what he wants. He's obviously chasing the money, and tbh, I don't really blame him. Also, I think we've got a better CH in Thomas now anyway. Think it works out well for us.

I love McGarry, but he’s hopeless on social media.

If he announces a signing’s coming, you can guarantee it’s going to be at least 3 days until it happens. Then there’s the fact he’ll put #DavidArtell in a tweet, but has never used the “official” #CreweAlex for a single tweet. Peter Morse really needs to have a word.

As for Hoban, I find what he’s done to be pretty low. I imagine the announcement is delayed for legal reasons.

Probably because him leaving was inevitable and he’d rather see him playing regularly and develop further rather than stuck on someone’s bench.

Also increases their chances of a decent sell-on, if he has a good couple of years here he may get another bigger move. He goes to Championship and barely gets a look in, he may well just end up back in L1.

Nail on the head. Before Artell, we had almost a whole crop of Academy talent not utilised to their potential. Between 2013-2017 we sold two players for a combined £650K. That wasn't sustainable given the expense of our business model. The two players in question were sold before they were ready to go, such was our desperation for cash at the time. I think we got more money for Colclough when Wigan got promoted but it would've still put us under £1 million in sales for that period.

In a similar 4 year period, we've made over £2 million in sales (including Cooper and Nunn) and that's before you factor in any add ons for the last three we've sold. We've also been taken over since then so we're on a more solid financial footing to establish ourselves at this level, which is our current priority.

Too many clubs think short term, we can't go out and spend £5K a week on a player or spend a seven figure fee. So we have to do things differently.

Terrell Thomas looks an excellent signing if we can keep him fit. As for Hoban, I hope that's a part time non league club he wants to play for and not a sign he's about to do the dirty and go for a fat contract at Wrexham or Stockport. Such a strange saga, we'll find out all about it in Inside Crewe I'm sure!

Unless we sell anyone now we need another centre half and two wingers. I assume both wingers will be PL loanees (Lloyd-Bennett and Knight?). The centre half will probably be a veteran winding down their career which would make sense given Thomas and Offord will be our starting CBs and we could do with some more experience in our young backline.

Any Wimbledon fans able to tell us about Terell Thomas? Just signed for us, another measly 12 month contract though.

Player of the year 19/20 and certainly decent for this level. I think you've done well there because he left us thinking he'd get a Championship gig or be snapped up by a "bigger" team than us, but has been brought down to earth a bit and signed for you rather than be left on the shelf. No disrespect but Crewe wouldn't have been his ambition when he decided to move on. Can look a bit languid and careless at times but overall pretty solid. Likes to ping a long ball out of defence.

Haha, I'm glad it's not just me that is annoyed by that! He'll always put @crewealex but never #crewealex! Someone needs to tell him how the hashtags work.

Charlton fans, we've signed Jonny Williams on a free. Is he broken injury wise?

Pretty much, he wouldn’t be in L2 otherwise, to be fair he wouldn’t have even been in L1.

One of the nicest blokes about though so hope he can get plenty of football.

Cameron Burgess on his was from Accy. We're also linked with their lad Butcher. Not sure we need another CM.

I know you probably won’t agree but I wonder if you will eventually regret Bishop leaving? It is early days but he already looks some player after a couple of very good games.

Never worked for him here as he was always on the treatment table and in recent seasons pretty invisible.

I'd like to see him do well in all honesty, keep him fit and he just might. I just don't see it.

Looks like defender TJ Eyoma is heading to Pompey. Really liked his last season and a shame to lose out on him but not worth breaking our wage structure for him. Really came on under MA so slightly surprised he's off to Pompey despite more ££££

Hopefully just a ploy to get a bit more money because he could solve two issues for us - RB and CB.

Realistically, should we be in with a shout of signing him? Probably not. Are we in Pompey's wage budget? Absolutely not.

Tom Carroll is our 16th signing. Would think that’s us pretty much done. Got rid of the vast majority of the players from last seasons squad and replaced them with better players (on paper at least). Would love to know the wages we’re offering but in terms of net spend it’s not breaking the bank. It’s now how Cook can get these to Gel.

Always liked Bishop but it just didn’t work out. In a better team he would have flourished. Hope he does well

If that is the case, he needs to be careful as it's a big move for him. Would I break the bank? No, as good as he was and the potential he has, he's not alone in that respect. Despite was DC says, no way can we compete with what they offer.

Tommie Hoban retirement confirmed. Bit of a weird saga but I’m uncomfortable with anyone giving him stick for it, in a situation like this there is always more to it and I highly doubt Hoban had any real intention of causing us disruption. And Thomas sounds the better player anyway.

Yes it looks that way. I've got absolutely no problem with what he's done. It's his life. He can live it how he wants.

Where did you hear that? I saw some efl hub tweet it, but if its not a journo tweeting it's usually not true. We do need another CB, but already have 2 senior and 1 decent young RB on the books although once our backup is back from suspension the youngster will go out on loan

Knight confirmed. Season long loan. Let's hope he lives up to the hype.

At least 2 more bodies needed. Probably get another in before the Accrington game on Saturday and see where we go from there. Lowery situation still up in the air and has to be resolved sooner rather than later else it'll only be to our own detriment.

It has come through an ex-agent on twitter, got a fair few things right Imps related especially when DC/NC were here so I imagine there's a link between them and him. A former players dad who has also got a few bits right mentioned that he's gone to a club down south for more money.

Hopfully Ben Knight will add abit of a spark and abit of creativity into the team. Seems highly rated by City, and came on in the community shield last week.

People are a little sceptical over the Ex-Agent account, but he's very clued up on Lincoln stuff and obviously knows people around us and I'd say 90% of what he calls on Lincoln happens. I'm lucky to get snippets and even in the 10% that doesn't happen, it's not complete bollocks and an element of truth to.

We’re resigning James McClean, no idea if it’s a loan or a permanent. Should do well at this level.

Really happy with Tom Carroll.

Can't see many more coming in now, 1 or 2 I imagine. Still very short at CB.
