I thought he only signed a 18 month contract with Cremonese in Jan?

Can’t remember the length of the contract but he has barely featured while there. Can’t imagine that will change in Serie A next season so be better for him to go somewhere he can actually get on the pitch I’d have thought.

great signing, we know what we're getting and we know he is part of the matrix.

this is the type of defender who is wanted by bigger teams so should he improve like we suspect he can, he genuinely could be a saleable asset at some point.

Done well to get him as there were clubs rumoured to be sniffing round him in January before his injury. Challinor at Stockport I reckon might have been interested as he played for him at Hartlepool. Did feel like a signing we’d make this summer as at Wembley they had a space for him in the dressing room even though he wasn’t here at that point.

They can make my summer now if get Dennis Politic home as well permanently.
Home? Home?!

If he swaps Serie A* football and Lombardy for League One and Stoke he needs his head checking

*okay, it’s not like he’s going to get (m)any minutes next season, but still…

Issue with Dennis was he doesn’t really fit our system. I loved him and he was a game changer when he came on and left us some great memories but if paying big wages as we would have to for someone who we use as an impact sub it isn’t ideal.

A few rumours flying about saying we’re going to sign GK Nathan Bishop on loan from Man Utd. I’d be very pleased with that and I believe he impressed on loan at Mansfield last season.

Exactly this. Politic was brilliant as an impact sub. It basically meant plan A hadn't worked. Can't remember a game he started where he had the same impact. If he barely started for us in L2, doubt he would in L1.

Yeah...I wouldn't bother pursuing Politic. He doesn't really fit in with our style. Even if he doesn't play in Italy, his wages and lifestyle must be far more appealing. If he's happy to not play and pick up a wage then I don't think he suits us.

i agree re politic, one of the most exciting players i've seen at vale and i would lose my shit if we signed him again, but i feel like the money it would take would be more sensibly spent elsewhere.

Fair comment. Only thing I would say is DC has said he builds squads not elevens and having a real game changer like him will be huge. Especially as the rule on the amount of subs you can make has changed now having that quality on the bench will be what makes the difference next season.

On another note Alan Nixon linking our midfielder Jake Taylor with Morecambe. I really hope we don’t let him go. Firstly Conlon won’t be back playing until the end of October I would imagine and secondly Jake has had horrible luck with injuries and finally shown signs of being over them and back to the player who had a lot of potential when he first came. Not sure there’s any package Morecambe could offer us that would be worthwhile letting him go not least as there is a sell on clause we have with Forest. Can’t see him being a Derek Adams type player either.

We've signed out of contract CB Paudie O'Connor from Bradford.

Already got options there so would perhaps suggest Poole being moved from CB next season back to RB.

I'd be annoyed if we let Taylor go cheap, he was outstanding in the play offs and looked back to the player from 19/20, he ballsed up against Bristol Rovers but was playing out of position and had been out for months.

If we have a better option lined up fair enough but certainly doesn't make sense to flog him cheap either.

Yessss

Saves us being linked with the shit fucker.

That said I'm hardly happy we've got Ben Heneghan instead.

Elliot Anderson the latest name linked. We have supposedly made a formal loan offer to Newcastle. That’s the sort of signing we should be making.

Brilliant player -- And if Newcastle are going to loan him out again ( Third Div side ) no reason he should'nt come back to us.

Ben Purrington is set to leave Charlton Athletic on a free wonder if we'll be interested.

Goalie Jay Lynch, released by Dale, has joined Fleetwood. Mostly pretty competent, and made some excellent saves, but not that big and occasionally dodgy on crosses. Don't know if he's signed as first choice, or as experienced cover.

Other than the fact Wednesday will almost certainly be in the top 6 and you will almost certainly be in the bottom half?
Totally agree with what you say -- But (1) He is used to our style of play & players . (2) He will almost certainly to be selected for every match we play (3) Barton is a mate of the Newcastle management and is a great developer of young players. (4) He loves the Gas.

Were Rovers paying all of his wages and a loan fee? Wednesday may offer a greater financial compensation to Newcastle which could have a major bearing unless you were already paying all his wages and a good loan fee.

From what I’ve seen there’s also Championship interest in him as Stoke are rumoured to be one of them. Think it’s unlikely he’s back at Rovers unfortunately.

As many have said in the past (but still happens), never get attached to a loan player.

I'd hope we're interested in him as our current assistant manager was heavily involved with the Newcastle youth teams before moving to us. You'd imagine he knows Anderson well.

I’ve known for a few weeks that it was unlikely we’d get him but I’m still a bit gutted. He was brilliant in those 15 games. Hopefully we can find someone else just as good. If Wigan (or whoever signs him) can keep him fit then they’ll have one hell of a player on their hands but it’s a big if as his injury record is horrendous.

Antony Evans signed a new 3 year deal with us yesterday.
Amazing to keep him as he would surely have had other offers being one of the best midfielders in the league last season.

Supposedly a RWB failed a medical at our place last week. Either him or Moses Odubajo.
