He about launched that poor Tranmere lad there with that cruncher of a tackle!

The one he sent that Stoke U23 flying into the Lorne Street in the paint pot game was probably his finest work.

Need to see what business we do now. All signs previously show the club has got it right so they’ve earned the right to have faith or trust the process as is the phrase that’s been used a lot at Vale in the last year. One crowd pleaser of a move to settle people would be sorting a Wilson extension. Think that might settle one or two of our more reactionary fans plus it would make sense to tie down arguably one of our two best players.

What you've got with Gibbo is a 100%. He always gives his absolute all and that adheres him to the fans. He's a decent wing back but has spent far too much time injured. Particularly hamstrings which is a concern. When fit, he's a good addition.

It's a strange sideways move in many ways but we have the inside track on his injuries and whether they're likely to happen again. Rovers have clearly offered him a decent contract and we've probably gone for an appearance based one. If I were Gibbo I'd have accepted the bigger package....although when you factor that most of his family live up here and Bristol is not a cheap place to live then suddenly the wage increase doesn't look so rosy. We've had too many players on the treatment table this last season, so you can understand the club's reticence to hand out big contracts to players who can barely play.

Good luck to the lad . I like Bristol as a city and Rovers are a good club.

Thing is we don’t know details of contracts, Wilson may have a clause we can extend like Smudge for example, Worrall somehow appeared in contract when we were expecting news on him.

Would be a settler, a lot are slating the club for not tying Gibbo down in January but what could they do? His hammy went again just after missing most of the previous season and part of the early season so would have been stupid, someone made the fair point that if we signed a player who had only started 27 times out the last 92 due to injuries we’d be going nuts about it so now the dust has settled and the actual reason he has left has become very clear (the offer we made being appearance based) it makes relative sense.

I wish him well, he’s a fans favourite and come through the club and hope he can move on from his injury problems, he’s part of a Vale side that goes into folklore now which he deserves after the years of shit he had to be part of prior.

News on Benning and a new signing or two to calm things down would be nice though!

Icky is 30 in November and Smith 31 in October so they have chosen to look after their families with a last decent contract, plus a big pay rise and who can blame them for that.

We apparently were prepared to break our pay structure to keep Smith but rumours of Wednesday offering him up to 15 grand a week has rightly blown us out of the water.
We shouldn't pay that, it would only upset the rest of the squad and he really is not worth that kind of money, he isn't worth the £8-9000 we are supposed to have offered but as I say good luck to him.
£15k a week is disgusting money for League One

I think only Bannan will be on anything around that figure. And he’s worth it.

We haven’t got any of the other ‘big earners’ from 4/5 years ago left.

Not as bad as first reported only £14,000 lol.
It's to be hoped that's only for Smith and not Icky, £14.000 a month is more realistic.

Tyreece John-Jules on a season long loan from Arsenal.
Made of glass unfortunately, he'll probably be back at Arsenal in January having cut his loan spell short because of injury.

Couple of good signings for Wednesday, them and Ipswich. Some decent signings coming into L1 full stop IMO.

Our first signing is a little less glamorous, as we've picked up creative midfielder Jasper Pattenden from Worthing. That's about as much as I know, but hey, we've done well with rough diamonds in the past so we'll see how he does.

Wednesday have done some cracking buisness. Pressure is going to be on Moore to deliver this season.

We're in talks with Mikel Miller who was released by Rotherham so I think we're now not after Ben Purrington.

Matt Taylor has said we’re struggling to compete for new signings and work is ongoing. Also he said the majority of our new players will be loans, although he only wants 4 or 5 new players in total.

Looks like we need to be patient but it is a bit concerning that there’s been no movement yet.

I think you'll find that should be whine but anyway it is true.
How Icky got into the team of the season is a mystery, he wasn't even the best centre back in our squad.
Most Millers would place him behind REG and Woody, he did however score one of the best own goals I've ever seen at Sunderland.

I know it should be whine but couldn't be arsed to change it.

Good luck to the Millers next season.

It seems like some in this league are spending stupid money on wages. Hope it doesn't come back to bite them.

Define stupid.....our Home attendance averaged 23k last year which gives us more scope for wages, we've also shelled 13 players so again we have space to add.

Thank you, we'll need it.

Looking at the players Moore has managed to bring in so far it would be a big surprise if Wednesday manage to balls it up this season.
Then again everbody thought that about Ipswich last year.

Smith and Icky are certainly top end League 1 players that tend to struggle in the Championship.
Vaulks is too good for League 1 and you already had a very capable team that should have done better last season.

I might have a bet on Wednesday going up, I never win owt so it'll be a way of handicapping you to give the rest a chance lol.

Yep the gulf in wages being offered by the big hitter vs ourselves is mental. I expect we’ve offered deals to a few but we’re probably 4th or 5th in line to sign them!

There's a rumour that Will Grigg is training with us while we decide if we want to sign him again or not.

There could be a big chance of that happening because we were nailed on to sign him but there's been nothing mentioned since the season ended at Gillingham.

Is he out of contract? I'd be happy with him on a free with our striker shortage but not pay Sunderland for the pleasure.

Good news for us that Mal Benning has signed a new deal. Slow start for him last season but once he forced his way into the lineup in the back end of last season was really good. One remaining question for our out of contract players now sorted. Can focus on making some additions now.

Mal Benning has signed a new deal so all our offers are sorted now with only Gibbons and Amoo leaving on a free and Hurst going York so keeping the main core of last season.

Pleased with Mal staying, he had a slow start with us but was superb towards the end of the season.

So what we need right now is a RWB to at least split time with Worrall, two forwards preferably one of them with some pace and a keeper as am still saying Stone is not a #1 at this level yet.

Might be others depending on any outgoings from the squad.
