I thought Derby weren’t allowed to pay fees?

Can’t remember anything of him when he played against Vale but as a general rule you wouldn’t go far wrong signing any defensive player from Northampton. As a group they were the best in L2 by a distance.
Strange how Derby get a free pass when Bolton didn't, we weren't even in administration and had a non fee embargo last season, bent sheep molesting c***

Sounds like we've beaten a host of clubs to the wonderfully named Zeno Ibsen Rossi from Bournemouth on a permanent deal.

6'4 center back that can play according to Cherries fans. 3 year deal for a 21 year old so I suspect they will put a sell on fee in the deal.

The Harry Darling sell on cash being spent!

We have signed Quevin Castro on loan from West Brom on a season loan.
No, I’ve never heard of him either.
Apparently an attacking midfielder.

Korey Smith signing to an already packed midfield - one or two must being going. Bielik, Bird, Thompson, Hourihane, Sibley and Knight.

I would guess Bielik is off and Smith will be his replacement.

Must be very exciting for you all getting to show off all your shiny new signings etc. Not jealous in the slightest :hypo:

Meanwhile at Vale… :tw:

Sadou Diallo has signed for Derry City. Didn’t play a lot but was usually on the bench and looked decent on occasions when he did play.

14th member of our title winning squad to leave, with none of the 5 players we offered new contracts/were in discussions with opting to stay. Pretty big turnover of players given how good a season we had.

Bielik hasn’t been given a squad number and isn’t training with the team, so I’d imagine we’re working something out for him. No idea on Byrne.

And Bielik is over 20 and under 30 so does not fit in to Derby team policy

Town have signed Marcus Harness tonight from Portsmouth for an undisclosed fee. Joe Pigott goes the other way on loan.

Superb bit of business for us on both counts. Signed what some of them are saying is their best player and managed to offload Piggott on loan who was on high wages allegedly.

Ipswich have pulled a fast one there, decent addition

Harness was always likely to leave this summer, but I'm sure we would have preferred him to go to a Championship team.

We've struggled to get a decent fee for a player since the Cowleys took over so whatever it is, at least it gives them some money to play with.

We finally have a striker, even if it is only on loan. We wanted Pigott last summer so it's good to finally have him. It will now be interesting to see if the extra cash helps us get our number one target, George Hirst back from Leicester.

Likely just to be financing another loan for Hirst, not permanent.

We’re after Hirst as well. Although we’re going for him as a permanent. Apparently was one of our top targets this summer. Who knows if we will get him though.

Had a great 2nd part of the season and looked more like the player we saw in the youth ranks, Leicester have to take a hit and pay him up to make it financially viable for any suitors.

I'm gonna sound like one of those usual fans who are bitter at selling their favourite player, so slate them rather than praise them....

Harness on his day is a class act. But he seems to be weighed down with confidence or motivational issues. My overriding memory of him will be picking the ball up and gracefully gliding forward beating a couple of players, before missing the opportunity to slide in a good pass to a team mate, being closed down, attempting to beat his man (again) which results in either a) finding space to put in a poor cross, or b) losing the ball, chasing down the player and coming in late on them in frustration leading to one of his numerous yellow cards in his time here.

The one standout game he ever had for us was against his old team mates at Burton where he was clearly self motivated to show them what they were missing out on. That was two years ago.

He seems like a nice lad so i hope that the move will bring out the best in him and he can kick on and fullfill his potential. Certainly playing as a deep striker would play to his strengths, rather than out wide how he's generally been used here.

As the big-money replacement for Jamal Lowe, he's failed to hit those same heights, or reach the potential that we thought we were signing.

I think it's a good deal all round. You get a Celina type replacement for not an extortionate outlay, and we get some money and reduce our wage budget significantly which allows the Cowley's more wiggle room to rebuild our forward line.

Selling our biggest asset to a divisional rival, and gaining a loan in the deal, is not a great look of ambition on our part though. It certainly doesn't ease the current animosity towards the owners.

Harness was dreadful at Vale albeit he was young at the time and in a pretty poor team. Amazed that he's made a career in league football to be honest, didn't look up to it. Just goes to show how some players develop.

We passed on Tyrone Mings for not being physical enough for league football...great decision that although Swindon also thought the same at the time

Yeah Harness couldn’t get much look in what was the worst Vale side in decades but seemed to go back to Burton and push on.

The word is that we got back what we originally paid for Harness - £750k. Apparently two Championship clubs made offers but didn't match our valuation.

Wish him well. Good player on his day. Good at beating players and knows where the goal is. Passing can be very erratic though, and it's probably that which has kept him out of the Championship so far.

I think this just shows how important the environment is to a player. Like you at that time I thought Harness was utter shite and destined for conference or lower but I think it was more a Vale problem than a him problem. If someone like him were to join us now with our current setup they’d be more likely to succeed than they would have back then when frankly they were always going to fail.

Under Aspin wasn’t it so always a big ask as we played so negative.

Obviously only have to look at Paddy the Baddy’s new mate Ben Garrity to see how different things are now considering he was shit according to Oldham fans before his wonder season just gone.
